I wish the store allowed single word reviews, because "boring" is all I need to describe this book. It reads like a dry parental advice manual redirected to kids. A "Say Yes to No Club" with a detailed reward system? If this isn't the system at your child's school, who cares? And if it is, you don't need this book.

This is one of their most favorite books. We love Julie Cook and own several of her books. Her story telling style is very good and easy to understand. It actually really helped my kids and they even "quote" from the book from time to time when they are in certain situations. This book gets a 5 star from us.
PS: My twins are 5 years old but we have own this book for nearly a year now.

This book is wonderful! I'm constantly battling with my 6.5 year old son and his favorite word "no" when dad or I use it, but especially when he uses it. It's a great lesson and he loves to read it too!

This RJ booked helped our child follow rules, as it is specific to what to do when angry. I felt it was corny but it wasn't for me and it serves it purposes as we reference it if we see a tantrum or bad behavior starting up.

I would recommend this book to all parents. No child likes the word "no" but this book shows the child how to accept "no" rather than get more angry or upset. It was perfect for my 5 year old niece who can be a little stubborn at times. We are actually looking for more books by this author. Great message!

Julia Cooks books are always amazing- this one is no exception. My preschoolers love these social stories, and I am quick to adapt the activities in the back to do something with them that allow them to understand the concepts.

I have purchased other books by Julia Cook which have always been cleverly written to motivate a child to engage in prosocial behavior. With this book, I did have to change the words a little to make it more readily understood for my 4 year old child. I would recommend this book for children ages 6 and up.

I have been working very hard with my daughter who has ADD about being respectful and how to go about things the right way. Everything in this book reiterrated what I have been telling her and as she read, she would look at me funny and say something like, "it sounds like you wrote this". The pictures and fun tone of the book made what I have been telling her more concrete and we really enjoy reading it together. We have talked about reading it more than once because she says she thinks it really helps her. She can remember a story in a book more than a lecture from mom, or being told to do something so it helps her set good limits and be respectful. I have purchased more of Julia Cooks books and even though I was worried that they would be a little "young" for my daughter who just turned nine, they were written in a manner that did not seem to juvenile for her. Cook's books are an amazing tool for helping kids work through some behavior issues in a fun and positive way!

I purchased this book to help my "easily frustrated" preschooler. Not sure if it actually works, however he loves the book and acts to read it a lot. So, maybe he feels like he relates to the boy in the book in some way!

My son has ADHD & Disruptive behavior disorder. I actually make him read the rules on how to accept no each time he attempts to have a tantrum. So far I have much better results. Sometimes you just have to try something new that will show them how their actions look to others.

My five year old son relates to the character very well and loves this book. He instantly wanted to try to put the skills taught into practice so he can get a 'star' for the refrigerator. He also enjoys reading it on his own. It was well worth ordering the book.

My kid loves this book. She connects with it. Have read it almost every day for two weeks. Very child friendly. RJ has to deal with hearing "No" from his teacher, his father and mother. He learns what he can do to accept this with the help of his teacher.
