Learn How to Make Soap at Home with Recipes - and Step-by-Step Instructions

Very easy to read and excellent instructions! Due to time limitations, I can't sit down and devour a book anymore. This book breaks everything up into nice easy sections to read so you feel like not only are you learning something, but you retain it as well. I only wish it had color photo's, but that's alright...there are other books out there that have photo's that I can look at. I am new to soapmaking and found this to be a terrific reference and well worth it to purchase.

This book was super-de-duper helpful for getting started making soap. *Nearly* everything you'd need...info on the ingredients, how they work, instructions for various types of soapmaking, charts for saponification rates of oils, various recipes, etc.

One note: the liquid soap recipe does not mention any thickener, but it desperately needs one after you dilute it. It's like water. It's not just you! You cannot just cook it longer to get rid of the water. It won't thicken. It just starts solidifying. You'll have to do research on thickeners elsewhere. There are a variety of options.

I recommend reading "Smart Soapmaking" first. This book has a lot of information however was a tad confusing to me at first. I read Smart Soapmaking, made a batch of soap and then retread The Everything Soapmaking Book again and refer back to it constantly.
