Christopher Moore has done it again! I love how he has, once again, combined characters from previous books ("Lamb," "The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove," "Island of the Sequined Love Nun") into this crazy Christmas story! Can't wait to read the next Christopher Moore book!

My first Moore book and a Christmas miracle story none-the-less. The first chapters of the book had me extremely annoyed - I had picked it up having read a review that read "Christopher Moore deserves acclaim on the Dave Barry/Christopher Buckley level, or even beyond that, for he's better than either of them."

Moore couldn't accomplish as neat and clean a twist and tie-out for a thought or story in 200+ pages - while Barry performs such tasks with skill in single paragraphs. Moore is no Barry.

Further annoyance came over the writing - which was hyper... frenetic - and the first chapter seemed especially plagued by the author dropping as many clever things as he could mash into the text - tripping over himself with obvious amusement at his own cleverness. And similes.

This tone calmed down as the book progressed - and made it possible for me to get to the last page. And to actually - begrudgingly - end up liking a lot of Moore's style and especially his characters and their relationships to and with one another.

No smoothies came out of my nose, and while some lines and ideas were smirk-worthy, there was nothing in this book of enough originality or sharp substance to get me howling uncontrollably...

So, instead, I will say that it was a bright and cheery read - and some enjoyable characters such as Molly the Warrior Babe, Tucker Case and his sidekick Roberto the Fruit Bat - who may or may not speak English with a slightly Spanish accent.

What an interesting read. I really enjoyed the quirky story. I've never read any of Moore's books before. But I will certainly read some of his other books. This small town was full of interesting characters that people can certainly relate to. The book is funny and entertaining. For a different kind of read, I highly recommend it.

Also if you like some different personalities with flaws this book is for you. A peace officer who is high, a B-rated movie queen, she steals the show not to mention the stupidest angel. You will love the bar in this book. If you like odd this is your book.

Somewhere in mid-December I get tired of the pretty lights, don't want to deck the halls, snarl at Salvation Army bell-ringers and refuse to give house room to the dispirited tree that was dragged home in an earlier fit of cheer. Reading this book while listening to Robert Earl Keen's Merry Christmas From the Family and swilling eggnog generously spiked with Bermuda rum makes the pain recede, I give copies of this book to friends every year just to share the joy.

Is perfect...in literally everything he does. Have not gotten to read this one yet but I will soon. He is an exceptional writer with a quick wit and quite the imagination. Getting lost in his head is truly a pleasure.

Christopher Moore is a sick, twisted, demented, person, and probably a communist as well. But he writes an incredible story... twists and turns you won't see coming, laugh out loud moments, and a strange obsession with whale genitalia.... Buy this book. Buy all his books. Buy his books and give them to your friends.

This is a great book. Christopher Moore has a great sense of humor and a unique ability when it comes to his novels. I enjoyed reading about all of the characters from Pine Cove. I would recommend reading this book to anyone who is looking for an uplifting Christmas Novel.

Christopher Moore is a very funny man and The stupidest Angel is one of his best books.I laughed so hard that my family members wondered what was going on in the back bedroom. Some familiar characters show up from some of his earlier books, giving a bit of an epilogue on how their lives worked out since their last adventures. As always, there is a lot of suspense and some romance mixed in with the hilarity.

Christopher Moore's irreverent writing style has always been wonderful and this book is no exception. I have no complaints regarding Christopher Moore, but I do want to point out that recent re-issued versions of this book (2.0) contains a hidden followup chapter for the book.

Sadly, this chapter is NOT available in the Kindle Edition of this book. Boo. So Buyers beware -- if you would like to read the followup chapter, you will need to get the hardback edition of this book.

I have enjoyed the author before and the title set an expectation that is not the story itself; the subtitle really didn't help. That is not really the author's fault and the deeper darker story was OK. Not as funny as I would have liked but a dark romp that would appeal to others who might not select based on the lighter title. No real details in this review because I don't like to give away plot lines and such.

This is my second Christopher Moore book. I LOVED "Lamb" read it in almost one gulp. This was good, just not as epic. I will keep reading Chris's books though. He is super talented. I think I may have liked this more if I would have read it in winter. I know that sounds weird. But its a Christmas book and I read it in Spring, Anyway....

If you have read any of Christopher Moore's books you know you can expect a funny story in the sort of way that only Mr Moore can pull off. This is a Christmas story with a twist of horror!
Always enjoy his books for the quick, funny read that they are!

The story was great until the end when it drifted on too long, became weak, and fell apart. I really enjoyed the quirkiness of this novel but like I said the ending left a bad taste. It would have been better if it ended sooner.

Although humorous, I feel the author tries to hit you over the head with how clever and aloof his characters are. If I was just told my girlfriend was almost killed by a psycho, I'd be less likely to say something pithy and cavalier. There needs to be a better balance between the humor and the ridiculous. Beating a dead horse to get the last laugh.

Could anything be more mundane than another Christmas story? Well, not when Chritopher Moore is the author!! This is a heartwarming tale of people coming together during the holiday season. If you have read Chris Moore you understand his version of heartwarming, if you have not read him this is a nice one to start with.

This is the greatest Christmas tale ever told. How can one doubt the power of zombies as a vehicle to convey a message about the real spirit of Christmas? I love Christopher Moore, and have never been disappointed by one of his novels. I just wish he wrote faster than I can read.

Just was not very impressed with this one. Ended up just flipping through many pages after a quick scan. Though there was some of the wit that I expected but I thought I would never figure out what was going on and was disappointed with the sudden upraising of zombies (though their wit was funny).

The story has some strange twists and the humor is not up to Chrstopher Moore's usual belly-laughing standards. If you are looking to laugh, like usual with his books, this is not the book for you. Overall, it is just OK.

what if...you saw Santa die...an angel returned...I won't spoil the plot, but all this happens in the little California town that Mr. Moore has already may famous with supernatural mayhem. It continues, and will keep you smiling.

For those of your who know Christopher Moore's work, you'll have a small idea of what sort of humor to expect. For those who don't, just know that this is going to be a fun read. ...Especially if you like zombies.

If you have no sense of humor about angels, fuggedaboudit! But if you enjoy rapier wit and some truly bizarre plot twists and character development, then this book is for you. Laugh out loud funny. Made my weekend!!

This book was hysterical. I have read a few other CM books, starting with Coyote Blue years ago, but The Stupidest Angel is by far my favorite! His characters are quite unique and make you laugh from beginning to end.
