This book is told in a sympathetic and humorous way; Bradley, the boy no one likes, who never completes his work and drives his teacher crazy, is actually a lovable kid. Readers will enjoy his outlandish lies, laugh at the situations he gets into, and still be unable to keep from liking him. At the beginning of the book, everyone seems to have given up on him, though his mother says, "Deep down, he really is a good boy." The new school counselor, with her quirky clothes and apparent belief in everything Bradley says, slowly wins him over. Maybe he does care about making friends and getting his work done. A great read-aloud book for third grade and up.

I thought this book was really good. I encourge you to buy it or check it out at the library. The only thing I would like to say is that this book is for 13up+ There was some sex referances and some language which the book could have done without. But other than that it was great!

I am a 5th and 6th grade learning support teacher and I read this book with my 5th graders in class. I have never seen kids get so excited about reading than they did when we read this book together. The characters are relatable, there are underlying lessons that really make kids think, and it's easy to read. I think I enjoyed reading it as much as the kids did! I highly recommend this book.

This book is really good! It barely has anything to do with the title. It I add about a Boy who never does his work. Until the new counselor comes to school. Oh and he also meets a new friend named Jeff. Brian and Jeff have a big fight in the middle of the book ,but at the end everything goes back to normal.

I was in fourth grade when my teacher, Mrs. Burndt, read the class this book. I am now 24 and I still think about the book from time to time. It seemed mean a lot more to me than I'm sure the author meant it to. It's a touching acount of a boy that doesn't seem to fit in. But you see his other side when his counselor slowly draws it out. I loved it then, and I love it still.
