I thoroughly enjoyed this one. :) The author focuses on the masks we put on and the deeper sins we face as we follow our flesh. A very challenging message that encourages us to find our identity in Christ - completely.

THis was an excellent read. Emily put to words, in the first pages, exactly how I have felt. I am the good girl who has all kinds of masks and "knows" how to behave for outward appearance. But Jesus is calling me to a deeper real faith. The use of scripture (which is vital) was perfect along annecdotal information about her own life. Loved it - have started to re-read it. Can't wait for the next book!

Grace for the Good Girl was/is an excellent read. If you are struggling to get away from the YES person in you and want to know how to do it and still retain the God in you, this is the book for you. We, as humans, aren't perfect, but are striving for perfection in Christ, not in another human-being.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone!

I could not believe there were others out there with my "personality" or whatever I thought it was....This book offered so much insight into being a "good girl" and better yet, moving past the "good girl image". Absolutely LOVE this book, I have only had it a few months and I have read it through twice!!!! So much to take in..I think I need to read it again!!!! LOVE IT!!!!!

I thought this book was a fantastic picture of grace. Not only did it describe the try-hard masks we try to wear but also how to put them down and live free. Written in a very refreshing, conversational manner. I felt like I was sitting down with a good friend who was a little further along the path then me, showing me how to rest in God's love and grace. Loved it.

Excellent for me and my 19 year old granddaughter. She clearly describes the traps (I have been in them all) and shows the necessary right thinking to get out of the traps. God's unconditional love is clearly presented to transform and to guide us in walking as a Christ follower!!

The truths in this book have truly changed my life. When you go through life thinking that you're responsible for just about everything, that your needs and opinions are secondary (if they even matter), and that you have to do the right thing to make sure people like you, it's exhausting. And since everything looks great on the outside, you live in exhausted isolation because no one is able to get close enough to really know.

This book brings freedom - true life-giving freedom. It's not really about what you do; it's about how you think. Read this book, and allow its truths to change your mind about yourself, about others, and about Jesus. It's a beautiful place of healing and a lovely way to live life - in the grace of a loving Savior.

We are reading and discussing this book in my Mom's Bible Study, very much enjoying it. Makes you feel normal, that other women share your same thoughts and feelings. Very much learning how to accept grace.

freeman creates an environment that showers a good girl with the unconditional love she craves with the gospel of grace she so easily forgets to remind herself of. the ending chapter questions must be utilized and this is a must read for any girl who can relate to the summary of the book by the author.

For the perfectionist at her peak: high school. I was the worst around that time and have loosened my grip on Control through the softening effects of time...but this book...this book might have helped that healing process begin much faster. Beautifully written, funny, like you're talking to your best, smartest friend, the one who "gets" you. This is a go-to graduation gift for me.

Great book, life changing. Read about things I have struggled with for years and someone finally found a way to put my feelings into words. This book should me just how much grace is available for me too!

Emily Freeman has a unique gift for taking those things that so many of us feel and yet don't quite know how to express, and putting them into words. I saw myself over and over again in the pages of her book. It was as though she had a little window into my heart. It was a comfort to know I'm not alone in my good girl ways, but the best part was finding insight and encouragement to change. I finished this book quickly and then went back to read it again.

"Emily gets real about her own experiences, and those of young women who were gracious enough to share them with us as readers. These stories are incorporated into chapters such as "The Actress" and "The Judge" to help young women identify the self-talk and presumptions that are hurting themselves more than anyone else." more on my blog [...]

I highly highly highly recommend! I am on my second read and know this will be a book I come back to time and time again over the course of my life. The questions posed help to get at the root of what drives my "good girl." Grab a friend (or several) and walk this journey together!

Grace for the Good Girl truly helped me to realize that I needed to stop living life behind my good girl mask. Emily nailed the characteristics of a good girl in the first half of her book and I found hope and confidence to live a life mask free in the second half. An excellent read from this first time author!

I purchased this book for my daughter, but found that it wasn't really applicable to her, so I didn't even give it to her. Quite frankly, I think she has a very healthy self-esteem and if anything, doesn't try hard enough as it is. this book seemed to be saying the opposite of what I'd like her hear.

I think if you have a perfectionist, "type A" teen girl, it would be better suited to her, but that isn't my daughter.
