Sounded like an interesting book to read and perhaps share with my daughter who is off to college. I was disappointed. Book is boring and uninteresting. The one star is for the book design and artwork. Don't waste your money

I requested this book because I thought it would be timely, in my house, where I have two teenage boys. We like funny books and it seemed like it would have good advice in it too. When I received it I found it is clearly a girl book, so that won't work, but I really do like it. I would definitely slip this into my daughter's suitcase, Easter basket or Christmas stocking if I had a daughter. It's a beautiful book, it's funny, it contains good ideas and excellent advice for what's important and how to navigate the world when you're just starting out and beyond. It has a section at the end where you could leave your own personal note. I wanted to give it away because I have a friend with daughters the right age but I think I'm keeping it. Possibly because I grew up without a mother and without all this advice, I find I can read it again and again. Thanks to Good Reads for the First Reads copy of this book.

Simply wonderful. I gave this cute book to my daughter the day she left for college on the other side of the country, little did she know I had already read the book and stared the pieces of advice that were special to me and wandered her to especially remember. When my daughter came upon my notes next to Blades' stellar advice, she called me crying. What started out as a fun little gift has ended up being a beautiful keepsake that both me and my daughter cherish. Thank you Becky for sharing your stories and advice. You've created an even more beautiful bond between me and my daughter. I'll be the first in line for your next book!

Ostensibly written for her daughter as she headed off to college, I secretly think Becky Blades's wonderful book, Do Your Laundry or You'll Die Alone, was written for my current 40-something adult self! A quick, captivating read, Do Your Laundry is filled with 272 important, easy to implement, thought-provoking tips for living a better, more meaningful, more fulfilling life and building lasting relationships with others. On my first read, I breezed through page by page... on subsequent reads, I find myself flipping to the lesson most needed at the time it is most needed. I'll be sharing this with friends of all ages.

Do Your Laundry or You'll Die Alone miraculously puts into words what every mother wants to share with her daughter before sending her off to face the world in clean underwear. This book is the perfect gift to pack away in a your child's suitcase before she leaves home for the last time. It will give her (or him) a loving nudge to do what would make you proud and them soar in life, friendship and love.

When timeless wisdom gets wrapped up in tickling wit.....well, that's an irresistible combination. Which is why I highly recommend this book. Sage advice from a loving mother packaged in contemporary and even ironic life lessons. My favorite? "A bad attitude makes your butt look big." What an outstanding metaphor when the world notices your negative energy from behind your line of vision. So order this already. In fact, buy five. You've got the perfect gift for Mother's Day, HS Graduation, College Graduation, Bridal Shower and Wedding all on your summer calendar. Congrats to this first time author. The buzzer just rang on my spin cycle, so I need to change loads. Signing off!

I recently received this book as a gift and immediately read it. It’s original design may have been to provide tips from a mother to her daughter, but it is truly a book is wisdom and life lessons for any person at any age. Today my favorites are #14 and #114. Fun to read but poignant. Buy two books and give one away!

This has arrived at the perfect time at our house as I prepare to take our daughter to college. Becky Blades has captured all of the wisdom that contemporary moms want to give their daughters but lack the words or gorgeous art work to illustrate. So much humor and heart is inside this small package! DYL is a must-by for the teen to young adult women in your life to help them on their independent ways.

Best Christmas present ever for our college daughter. Finally she has learned to do her laundry! The other lessons, complimented with adorable drawings, have her appreciating the "awe" in life. Thank you Becky Blades. She would never have believed us otherwise!

Laugh aloud funny and yet also full of wisdom, this book makes a great gift for mothers to give their children as they move on towards adult independent living. Clever, witty and a delight to read. My children have been living independently for 15 years and I still have thoroughly enjoyed reading and reading this humorous book of life tips.

My daughter, a Harvard classmate of the author's daughter, gave the book to me for my birthday, I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I just bought 10 copies to give to nieces, nephews and special friends. It is an amazing collection of life lessons, suggestions, must have and do's. I have read it many times and am humored, inspired and comforted by it. It is the perfect gift for not only the college-bound, but for all ages. It relates to every chapter of life. The book has inspired fun care packages, has initiated important conversations, and reminded me of what is worthy of remembering and passing on to the next generation.

The perfect gift for that special girl/young woman in your life who is graduating, celebrating or heading out on her own. This is a beautiful book full of great advice and wonderful artwork. I found myself smiling, laughing and nodding my head in agreement. And, when you think of things that you wish were included, there are note pages in the back for you to impart your own special wisdom. You will enjoy the book so much, you will want a copy for yourself! A great conversation starter.

I bought this book for my daughters, sisters and college-age nieces as a "favor" gift during a recent family weekend. We spent hours together laughing, telling stories and reminiscing about our family mantras and Grandma's advice inspired by Becky's wit and words of wisdom. Thanks Becky, for making our family weekend so very memorable. And, we all wholeheartedly agreed with # 36 re:bad attitudes...!!

This is a charming book full of great advice, both traditional and contemporary for the social media world we live in. The book is charming, witty, funny, and full of wisdom. The book is beautifully illustrated with the author's artwork. Many parents will find this a great book to give their children as they head toward adulthood and the real world.

What a delight! I gave this book as a graduation gift to 6 people this spring, and each one let me know how much they have enjoyed the laughter they shared, and also the practical advice - like not agreeing to donate a kidney to someone you met in a bar at 2 a.m. I'll keep buying this for all of my friends too. Can't wait to see what the author does next!

Loved this book! The advice sounded like it was coming from my mom but with a witty tone and the illustrations were so fun. I turn 30 this week and the book taught me that I still have some life learning to do, for sure!

Lovely little book of advice for college students. Would make a great gift for a high school graduate. Nice illustrations, pithy advice and real advice given by a mom to her daughter. I received this book free to review from Netgalley as a digital book. I think it would be best given as a gift in the paper book form. If you are looking for a fun graduation gift, this is it!

Love, Love, Love this! Funny quick read book. I'm giving it to my 20 year old daughter who is floundering to find her way in the world.
This is a quick great read. I inscribed the front to her and marked the pages with the things I liked the most. I highly recommend!!
