The Book of God

I found this book very easy to understand. It explained in an easy to read way stories of our Lord. Highest recommendation for anybody who finds the Bible a little hard to read. 5 star rating very well deserved.

If its difficult to grasp a clear and chronological understanding of the Bible or if your just a child at heart, then this is the book for you! Reading and understanding the Bible has never been easier than this. It's the Bible presented as a novel with characters and events that come alive because the reader becomes transported back in time to witness the greatest story ever told!!!

Wonderful and so easy to read and especially to understand. It is the Bible that reads like a novel. This was recommended to me about 1 1/2 yrs ago and I wish I had bought it then - I can see this as a book that will be read many times.

Walter Wangerin hit this one way out of the ballpark; a genuinely compelling read on the bible, stories, scriptures and characters all come alive with a total understanding of who, what, where and why! Real life and people who grab your heart and put their experiences into your world of understanding.

This book tries to humanize the stories of the Holy Bible by presenting them in novel form. What it boils down to, though, is a condensed version of the Bible. Every once in a while, a piece of good writing energizes the stories and the characters, but it is really just a rehash of what you've read in the Bible. Since there are no real insights into the story, it is more worthwhile to read the actual scriptures in the majestic language of one of the older translations.

Walter Wangerin, Jr. is an amazing writer, storyteller, and teacher. It is obvious that he does serious research. His stories in this book make one want to go directly into the Bible and re-read the stories.

Amazing!! I have many of his books. This puts "reading the Bible" into an enjoyable read instead of slogging through many of the usual translations. I have purchased mutiple copies of his books for gifts.

I highly recommend this book for anyone that really want to delve into the history of the Bible. the Old Testament is really shown clearly in everyday language which makes me want to read more but amazingly it makes me want to open my Bible to really feel the full affect of what I'm reading.

The author brings to life the characters of the Bible. The Gospel story was so beautiful I found myself missing Jesus for days after I finished the book. This is a book I will return to more than once.

relligiosly speaking it is based on belief of a story that happened in detail from spirits from bible times or the other side of the biblical story according to people in the afterlife. for one example Abrahams side of the story from his afterlife looking back.

Though this book is fiction, it really makes the Bible come alive. It is an easy and very enjoyable read. My Sunday school class is currently using this book as a Bible study. I highly recommend this boook!

This book is fantastic. Written as a story version of the Bible, the reader is immersed in a culture and story that comes to life in a way easily overlooked! I loved the portrayal of each characters emotions, the way they reacted...it made them far more real than the Sunday school cut-outs they can easily be reduced to. I highly recommend!

This is an awesome book. I struggle reading and understanding the bible due to a head injury. This book reads like a novel and is much easier to understand and get the concepts. Thank You Walter Wangerin Jr, for a book that is well written and fun to read.
