This was an excellent story on forgiveness and love and recovering. I would recommend it to anyone trying to get over a hurt, and a death. It was touching to know her son showed her signs that he was near. Wonderful book.

"Nurturing Healing Love" is an incredibly touching and moving book about coping with grief and dealing with the loss of a child. But it is so much more than that. The theme of the book is "choose love" and Scarlett has such a powerful message for anyone going through a difficult time. Whether it's grief or anger or illness or heartache, there is positive message in this book for you.

This has to be the most compassionate, moving book ever written! I read it non-stop, from cover to cover, without ever taking a break. Never have I been so personally touched by a book. Scarlett Lewis leaves opens her heart and invites you to feel all that she has felt since the loss of her beloved son, Jesse. After reading her book, I am checking into starting a compassion class at the junior high school where I work. I want to be part of the change that she envisions. So, in order to help her dream move forward, I have purchased 6 other copies to give as Christmas gifts. I am sharing the love! Thank you, Scarlett, from the bottom of my heart, for sharing your journey of hope and forgiveness with the world.

It was absolutely beautiful. The loss of those little angels in Newtown has certainly awakened the love in our hearts. It is so sad that it takes something tragic to make us show our love for each other. Eileen Latham

Having chosen LOVE following the shootings of my own family, I am curious how others have walked this path. It has been 23 years since THAT day for me and yet some moments I'm right back.
I added new tools to my coping skills: 1) washing of the feet & the meaning, 2) burning frankincense, myrrh, and amber as the Native American tradition, 3) the Native American belief of the passing of a great spirit, Jesse.
I would recommend this book to anyone who watched December 14, 2012 unfold on TV, to one who is walking the path of grief, to one who is searching for someone to emulate hope, forgiveness and acceptance.
Thank you, Scarlett, for sharing such a realistic and personal expression of loss. I pray for your continued progress through grief and with Jesse's foundation!

This is an incredible story with lessons for us all. For as powerful a story as this is, it is a very breezy read, uplifting in the face of unspeakable pain, tragedy, and sorrow. Think of it--being forgiving having had your wonderful son taken away in the most horrible way imaginable and then finding out that Jesse was a complete, awesome, selfless hero. Counting Scarlett as a friend and having had the opportunity to meet Jesse (and playing with him and his beloved army men) definitely rate as a highlight of my life so far.

I saw Scarlett on a video last night talking about the book and was so fascinated that I immediately ordered it on Kindle. I read most of the book last night and was so bowled over that I then ordered five paperbacks, one for each of my five adult children. This book is what it's all about. In a nutshell. Six stars!

I found this book very uplifting to anyone experiencing loss, depression and hate. The author was so sincere in her writing her own experience in loosing her younger son to such a tragedy. She reveals how one can change their way of thinking and living to a positive energy. It has so much meaning to all this violence and hatred in peoples lives. I would recommend to this to everyone!

It was always my hope that something good would come out of such a horrible tragedy. Scarlette's story was that for me, so inspiring, hopeful, and miraculous. I could feel Jesse's presence while reading the book. It's true that love never dies and Heaven is glorious!

I read this book slowly at first, ready to shield my eyes from details of another gun tragedy. In fact, it's a page turner. How astonishing that I couldn't put it down. For anyone who has felt an unraveling of their life, the story of Scarlett's transformation is inspirational.
It is also full of LOVE. Thank you for your resilience and courage in publishing. Jesse is worth it.

Just bought this book to support Scarlett and her family. Saw an article about the horrible, delusional people writing negative reviews. We have to stand up to this craziness that people feel they can spew over the internet before they take us all down with them. the store should limit reviews to actual customers or at least divide their reviews between people who actually bought the product and those who haven't.

Ironically, I never would have known about this wonderful book had I not read about the review-spam attack on it by people who claim that the tragic events at Sandy hook didn't even happen. It's the hardest of all subjects. I did feel some of the emotions I knew I'd feel, including deep sadness. But there's also such a strong message of love and, incredibly, of hope that reading this is much more than an experience in pain and sadness.

I wanted to post my own picture since another reviewer was kind enough to add two pictures.. The picture I'm adding is the same one that person posted, along with the same picture after they changed the kids around a bit for a better picture..That makes sense, stop in the middle of a crisis and change the lineup of children being rushed out of a building to safety. Come on people.. Do your own research. There is so much evidence out there that this was a hoax, that no one died, let alone children.. Start by watching the documentary, We Need To Talk About Sandy Hook.... Why would this woman make this story up? Well, lets see.. She's making a big ole profit from this hoax, now isn't she, as did everyone involved in this story... Wake up America!!!

Turning a heart breaking tragedy into a mission to help the world is just an amazing task. You can feel the emotional journey of Scarlett and her family, and the love and amazing spirit of Jesse. This story makes me want to choose love every day, for myself, for my family, for all people. It's the best tribute we can give these innocent souls. This message can truly change the world one heart at a time.

Very good read. Every parent should read this book. Learned a lot about life from this book, and how a few shifts in attitude can make the difference between being fulfilled or empty. I will be recommending this book to all of my family and friends. Great job.

This story is told by the parent Scarlett Lewis, mother of one of the boys , Jesse(6years old) shot senselessly on December 14th 2012 in the Sandy Hook Elementary school killings. Not yet a year since this tragedy, I admire the enormous courage of Scarlett in bringing the reader into her personal and bitter tragedy. From the beginning of her account she emphasises that this is 'a love story'.Her 6 year old boy Jesse scrawled a message on their kitchen chalkboard some time before his tragic death, in his kiddie handwriting 'Nurturing,Healing Love'.So young and yet so brave. While the shooter stopped briefly in his rampage Jesse shouted to the kids to run and escape. Jesse's yell lead 9 kids to run and thereby escape. The story is raw, naturally in places as the family struggle in its aftermath to cope.Scarlett spoke at the funeral and urged parents if they wish to help to 'please choose love'.
This brief but profound piece of advice led Scarlett down a whole new path.and has led to the setting up of a foundation known as 'Jesse's Choose Love Foundation', whose aim is to reach out to young people especially and guide them towards compassion and love instead of mindless and destructive hatred and violence. A new kind of heroism is needed in our time, the heroism of love.

Scarlett tells about her journey in an unbelievable way. Be prepared to stay up late because her writing keeps you from being able to put this book down. Her message and Jesse's message is clear... When times are hardest put more love into it. The more people who read this book and do Choose Love the better a world we will live in. Thank you Scarlett for sharing such a touching book.

It's remarkable that Scarlett Lewis chose not to escape the unimaginable horror of losing a child in this way, but instead knew intuitively that her son Jesse would want her to urge others to transform thoughts of anger and hate into those of love and forgiveness. Less than a year after this tragedy, Scarlett was actively spreading this empowering our message. Now it's time for all of us, who felt the shock and sadness so powerfully when we heard the news on December 14, 2012 to take action and heed Jesse's message. Thanks, Scarlett -- and Jesse -- for sharing this important message with us. (And thanks, Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, for setting the tone so beautifully in your foreword to this book.)

Thanks Scarlett and Natasha. I was in the hospital recuperating from a burst appendix when I read Nurturing Healing Love. By reading about Scarlett’s loss and the bravery of Jessie I was able to forget my own pain. The nurses were concerned seeing my tears asking if I needed more pain killer but I explained that it was the emotion I felt reading about Jessie. I recommended the book to them!
