If you are new to the Forgotten Realms setting in D&D then this book might be for you. The majority of the content is backstory on the various areas of the sword coast and there is a very small portion at the end that has new class descriptions. Since this is the 5th edition and there has been similar books to this in previous editions, I was hoping for a lot more character classes that would work with 5e.

I don't recommend getting this book unless you are planning on DM'ing in this setting and are completely unfamiliar with the Sword Coast.

Mostly setting fluff, with some new archetypes and a couple spells thrown in. If you are looking for the prior edition's power creep keep looking. If you are looking for a book that helps fill in some of the gaps in your knowledge of the Sword Coast you have found the book for it.

Overall its an enjoyable book. Quality control on the products being shipped needs to be handled better. The book I received was printed backwards and upside down. The outside binding seems to have been placed on the book wrong. Aside from that, I have no other issues using the book so far.
Seduced by Power (The Seduced Saga Book 3) :: Seduced by Innocence (The Seduced Saga Book 1) :: Origin (A Lux Novel Book 4) :: Exploring Lifespan Development (3rd Edition) (Berk :: Captain's Fury (Codex Alera, Book 4)

Great Content and history of Sword Coast in the Forgotten Realms! I would have given it 4/5 stars but I just thought the book was little thin. Could have used more info on the rest of the Forgotten Realms setting. Cool PC background options and Class Builds. I just wish WOTC would pick it up on the D&D Product its been over a year since its "new edition" and there is a lack of GAME product ( I'm not talking about boxed adventures) like the classic campaign settings ; Greyhawk, Dragonlance, Planescape, DarkSun, Ravenloft, Al-qadim . WOTC you have the fanbase for it. Give your customers what they want. Make Gygax proud!

I thought this product was going to be one thing, and it was another. I knew it would be a Forgotten Realms supplement and I know that I don't like that world. That being said, I thought there were going to be a lot of crunchy bits that could be used in other campaign worlds. There was, just not enough for me to keep the product. I recommend this product HIGHLY for FR fans who are playing 5E. But if you take a look at how many pages are actual rules supplements vs the amount of pages are FR fluff, it was not the right product for me. I got more out of "Into the Abyss" and "Princes of the Apocalypse" in terms of mining things for my own game.

Ultimately, it's a fine product and well published, it's just not for me and my gaming crew.

Even if you're not interested in the Forgotten Realms, this book gives some fluff that you can put into your own game as well as some maps that might be useful.

As far as actual mechanical and game content, there's not much here. A few more options for a few classes, but overall not much meat to the product.

Overall unnecessary unless you're just really into Forgotten Realms.

I feel like this should be more clearly labeled. Especially for a person new to the game, I didn't feel as though I knew what I was getting. The content is good, but not what I was looking for (although as I become more experienced, I definitely think I will use it in the future. For now it will be collecting dust.).

Disappointed in this one. There's a few class options and a couple new spells but the rest is an update on the lore (which will be up on the wiki soon anyway). The book is also very small, the smallest yet while being limited to Sword Coast players.

Happy as usual to get more dnd books, more content is always fun. However, I was slightly disappointed when I found the books had a huge ding in the bottom. Don't think it was a shipping thing. This is a bit harsh for that. 5 star books, shame for the 2 star condition.

I won't purchase any other WoC products that partner with Green Ronin Publishing. I'll just reiterate what some others have already pointed out. This is a poor quality product compared to many other WoC D&D publications. The writing is awkward, as if it was written by someone whose first language isn't English. Maps presented in the book are hard to read and disjointed from the greater whole. The only map of the entire Sword Coast region does not include a good chunk of the areas discussed in the text. Some entity names on the map illustrations aren't spelled consistently with those same entities in the text (for example, "Dornall" and "Dernal" on page 68). This book seems like a first or, at best, second draft of the intended final product. It really, really needs some editing and an entire rework of the maps. Save your money and stick with the old Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting from around 2001. It is far, far superior to this.

If youre going to purchase this then just get the online version. The amount of material in this book is insubstantial and half of it is covered in Xanathars Guide to Everything. The other half of the content tells you to refer back the the Players Handbook for details.
