Passion Unleashed is book 3 of the Demonica series by Larissa Ione. I read the first book of this series, Pleasure Unbound, because I borrowed it for free from the the store Kindle Owner Library. Now, I am hooked to the series; I borrow the e-books from my local city library.

What keeps me engaged/addicted?

There are many reasons to why I love this series as a whole (book 1-3). First, the heroes are not squeaky-clean. They are tortured by their demon nature (or their fear of demons in some cases). It makes me yearn for things to work out. Also, the three books are similar in that they focus on one of the three brother finding his life mate, but their individual stories are different enough that it doesn't get old. Plus, there is SO much going on in the sub-plot, that you are constantly trying to relate one scene to the next. Little details from one book end up being a major factor in the next book (Runa becoming a werewolf, for example). All these (sub) plot point are perfectly paced with the help of the perspective switch (the perspective shifts from character to character through each novel). Not to mention, there is a plethora of character who are all unique in both species and personality. Although there are so many characters, they important ones are developed as needed. The character development is so good, that I became invested in their lives. I desire to know what happens next. The last reason for the addiction is the humor and fun dialogue in the text. I love a book that makes me actually laugh. Not just smile, but laugh out loud.

**Spoiler Alert (Books 1 - 3)**

I read the intriguing Wrath focused novel in only two and a half days (it would have been quicker, but I was ill while reading). During the read, I felt every emotion possible: joyfulness, giddiness, and concern. Most importantly, I was even shocked with several details. However, some things that should be surprising were actually easy to predict, such as how a main character will be rescued.

Book 1 follows Eidolon's love affair with Tyla as they become bonded. Book 2 follows Shade and his love, Runa, as they bond.
Book 3 continues to focus on the brothers as Wrath meets somebody, Serena. Can he overcome his anger and fall in love? If you read the first two, you will already know the answer without reading this novel, but it's a fantastic story to read. Plus, there are many story tangents that are very interesting and connect to the other novels, much like Desire Unchained (book 2).

The writing flows beautifully from one point of view to the next. The little tilde mark ( ~ ) indicates a change of point of view. Sometimes, the change is between characters who are near. This results in one character telling the scene followed by the other character's inner thoughts about what just happened or just what happened later between the same characters. Other shifts seem to be unrelated, just happened in a similar time frame. For example, there will be a scene following Wrath in Egypt followed by a scene of Ky in New York. Although everything that happens is important, the main focus in on Wrath's story, this is made clear in the beginning,

The switch of points of view really shows the plot (following Wrath and Serena) and the sub-plots (following other characters). These (sub) plot points are sometimes thrilling, suspenseful, heartwarming, and overall engaging. Not to mention they are thought-provoking as we try to predict the outcome or even how these puzzle pieces of plot fit together in the greater picture that is Passion Unleashed, and the Demonica Series. Although I was able to make some accurate predictions, I was hanging on to every detail as I tried to determine the resolution to the intricate storyline.

All of these emotions are delivered with witty dialogue and easy to follow, yet brilliant, writing that is engaging and keeps the story moving. I laughed so much at the way characters would speak to one another. The humorous dialogue really fits this book (it's more prominent in this book) because it complements Wrath's personality. "Good thing he had broad shoulders, because the weight of the world… sucked."

Background Character Analysis of Wrath:

If you have read the previous stories, you know that Wrath is a selfish, hedonistic Seminus demon (kind of like a male incubus) with some vampire characteristics who happens to have a serious death wish and a f*** life and f*** you attitude. However, he is also intriguing because he is the ultimate warrior with a code of honor and family values who is also cocky, funny, entertaining, and brutally honest. Due to his history as a young demon that is flushed out yet again in this text, Wrath has never has sex with or voluntarily eats from human or vampire women.

PLOT:

The book begins, "There were three things Wrath did well: hunt, fight, and f***. He was going to do all three tonight. In exactly that order." Or so he thought. We open up following Wrath as he attempts to destroy vampires and their lackeys, "Renfields" or "Swans," or the "Fakires." Instead, Wrath was poisoned by an artifact. Since the brothers no longer had the artifact, it was stolen by Roag in book 2, it was incurable. Wrath was dying slowly and Underworld General, which was built on the blood, tears, and sweat of the brothers, was falling apart bit by bit. With the hospital crumbling and the worrying about the unrest in Sheoul (the demon realm), the hospital becomes greatly understaffed.

Eidolon and Shade cannot find an antidote for Wrath, but the learn of a cure. This cure would come once he claims the charm of a Marked Sentinel (a being gifted by an angle with eternal life as they keep hold of a valuable artifact that must not fall into the wrong hands). To clam the charm of immortality, Wrath must seduce and have sex with a willing Sentinel.

Enter Serena Kelly, a beautiful, sweet treasure hunter who has a zest for life and a vampire fetish. Although she was charmed, she had a very strong personality that was up to the task of keeping Wrath on his toes. She is independent, curious, and will do whatever she needs to do to recover a relic. There is only one thing that she will NOT do on her quest; she will not have sex. Being bitten by a Mara demon as a child, she contracted a deadly disease. Unfortunately, the Mara demon was killed, so there is no cure. However, her charm keeps her in good health. Uh-oh, conflict of interest!

The irony is that the cure for Wrath's affliction is to seduce and devirginize a human female. However, if she give him her charm, which is done through intercourse, she will no longer be saved from her deadly, demonic disease. This wouldn't be so bad, except Wrath falls for Serena. As is the way with all Seminus demons in this series, Wraith falls hard and for the first time in his life and he has come to terms with the unfamiliar feelings: romantic love, protective, and possession of another being. Not only is he willing to give up his life, but he is willing to allow the collapse of UG and the death of his brothers if it will keep Serena safe from her Mara disease. So, he decides not to give in to his brothers' request or his nature. He only stays with Serena to keep her safe from the many demons who attack her and Byzamoth, who can physically injure Serena despite her charm.

Don't forget, Wrath is slowly dying all this time and his pain is visible. Serena, who is anything but stupid, sees his pain. Once it is revealed that Wrath is dying and Byzamoth already grabbed the artifact that she was to keep safe, she decided to save the man she loved (she knew Wrath as Josh, the human at this time). Their romantic could have been bittersweet as we want both parties to be saved, but only one charm is available. (The only bad thing about this was I predicted the outcome of this as soon as I saw the conflict. It was not difficult to predict.)

As you may have been able to tell, Wrath goes through a character metamorphosis. However, some of his changes are a little shocking at first, while others make prefect since compared to his breed (shown through E's and Shade's stories).

This love story is the focus, but it is intertwined with a complex sub-plot.

Byzamoth is the malevolent creature, who is far worse than one seen previously in the series. He acts like an unmistakeable hell spawn, yet he's not actually from hell! Byzamoth is a destroyer; his goal is to destroy earth AND heaven by using a piece of heaven to unlock the gate. There is graphic imagery surrounding this creature, especially during the final battle scene between the Aegis and "good" demons (those who live in relative peace with humans) against Byzamoth and the other demons (those who want hell on earth). The battle really surrounded the "boss battle;" there was no detail about what happened to the armies of humans versus demons.

Gem and Kynan are back with their roller coaster relationship. Gem is fearful of being hurt again while Ky is jealous of a new character, Lore. There was angst and heartache mixed with desire and passion. Not to mention Kynan is part fallen angel whose future is tied up with a prophesy within the Daemonica: "And he born of man and angel shall die in the face of evil and yet may bear the burden of Heaven..."

Reaver, the fallen angel, is fully developed. He is an integral part in the plot as he provides celestial information, although it is against his angel nature, and he is important in the final battle.

That's a lot right, well, Ione wasn't finished with her sub-plots. She introduced Lore. He is an assassin. Before Shade's curse was transferred onto Roag in book 2, he contracted a team of assassins to take out his three brothers. Luc killed the first assassin after torturing him into identifying what was wrong with Wrath. Lore, the second, befriended Gem (he would liked to have become more than friends if only his "gift" wouldn't kill her). He used the intell she unwittingly gave him to enter UG and grab E. This should have killed Eidolon, but it didn't. I don't want to give away the reason behind Lore's failure, because it was a plot twist that I had no idea was coming. Read the book to find out why he failed in his task after spending 2/3 of it attempting to kill the brothers. I believe it is possible for this character to be the next tortured "hero." I will have to read book 4 to find out.

By the way, the final battle in the boos is where war between human and demon-kind looms.

Reading these stories in order is important because the plots interconnect as each book builds on the previous.

This is a great continuation of the Demonica series which has it all, love, lust, heartbreak, lots of fighting and lots and lots of R rated sex. The book continues the story of the brothers' lives with the focus being on Wraith but also moved it to another level where the fate of the world is in the balance (and that is a description, not an exaggeration). I like Wraith and this book did him justice, it was entertaining while giving him an interesting story that fit his personality and backstory. Gem and Kaynan's story is also resolved and a new brother with interesting "gifts" is added to the mix so there are lots of different elements in play. I like the book, it tugged at the heartstrings with interesting twists and turns and I recommend it as a great novel to have fun with and be entertained by.

Review by Cassandra from Book Talk

My Thoughts
We finally get to read Wraith's story. Over the course of the first two books, we get a glimpse into the personality and the hidden painful past of Wraith that has made him into the vampire Seminus demon he is today. In this book, Wraith's evil brother, Roag, is still not done trying to kill his brothers. Thanks to a poisoned dart shot by an assassin, Wraith's life now has a time limit that is rapidly running out. The only way to keep him alive is a heavenly cure. In comes Serena, a charmed human. Serena is an adventure junkie who's life is literally charmed by the heavens. No harm can befall her, that is until a demon rips her cloak and exposes her to all who would steal her charm. Serena has kept her charm by denying her passions all her life and it has been simple, until a unbelievably sexy man claiming to be a Guardian walks in her life and vows to keep her from harm. Wraith is on a mission to save his life and the lives of his brothers by breaking some of the only rules he has ever followed in his life. He must take a human's virginity and her charm, thereby ending her life. While determined to see this through, Wraith never believed a human could captivate his attention and steal a heart he never knew he had. This relationship is doomed before it ever began. One is destined to die no matter the outcome and the fate of the world as we know it is now on the line. While reading this book you are both happy that these two have found each other while heartbroken that there is no way both of them will survive to be together. There are twists and turns that leave you hanging on and determined to keep reading. I love learning more about Wraith since he has been such an enigma to us in the previous books. We finally get to see all sides to his personality and not just the hardcore rough demon he portrays to the rest of the world. The side relationship that the first two books covered also continues in this book and it is at turns shocking and pleasing. This series keeps you hooked and wanting to have the next one in your hands so you can follow the lives of this demon family and their friends. Seriously, if you haven't started it yet, what are you waiting for? Warning: explicit content and violence.

In most paranormal series nowadays, there seems to be one character, usually one of a group of brothers, who is messed up. He's the one who doesn't care if he lives or dies because he was horribly abused. He can't feel love, only loyalty. And he gets the best lines, because he's usually a smart aleck.

Enter Wraith. From the moment he appeared in Pleasure Unbound, he was my favorite and I couldn't wait for his book. The book has finally arrived and it is awesome.

Wraith was everything I hoped for; witty, tough, determined, vulnerable when recalling his past, and a total goober in love when he found his lady. What I liked about that was the way they fell in love. He didn't meet Serena, growl "mine" and let fate roll right over him. No, he met her to take something from her, namely her life in exchange for his, and against his will, started liking her. As the stakes grew higher and things got more serious in regard to what he needed to do, he began to be unwilling to be as selfish as he'd always been. He began to put her needs first. And they started to fall in love.

This series is a winner. It is complex and interesting, with little in-jokes and characters that leap off the page. At several points through the book I found myself smiling. Who knew Shade would turn out to be the most whipped of the brothers? That Gem would grow a nice strong spine? But there was a great deal of sad stuff too, and moments where it just didn't seem things could possibly work out. But they do, of course, which is why I love this series. It's a romance. A lot goes on, but things work out. And smoking hot love scenes don't hurt, either, and there were plenty of those, and not just Wraith and Serena.

In the end, Wraith got his happy ending, and I was extremely satisfied with that. It's always great when the extra-damaged ones find love, and Serena is worthy of him. They accept each other at a fundamental level, and to me you can't get more romantic than that.

After loving the first two books of this series so utterly, I never thought that it could only get better. I was so wrong.

Though I have been Shade Girl since the first book, Wraith always caught my eyes. I was always wondering and very curious as to who would be the woman to finally get through to him. Wraith is a broken man, born of an awful event and thrust into an horrendous situation. He suffered so much only to be saved by his brothers. From then on he has lived a wild life, not really caring about anything or anyone aside from Shade and Eidolon and in some level the Hospital, the three of them built together and his constant quest for the next thrill. However, his new quest is for life, his life. He has been poisoned and his life is in the hands of one human woman.

Serena was given a charm as a child. A charm that was not originally meant for her and has been the cause of many problems. A charm that holds the key to the future. Serena is aware of its importance, though not of the specifics, however, her nature compels her to keep active and always seek adventure and adrenaline, things she loves to the core. The only adventure she has never been able and can't go through is love. To be more exact, she can't have sex, lose her virginity or the charm she protects will be transfered to that person.

I loved this book so much. Wraith is an extremely complex and deep character. Yes, he is a bastard, rude, violent, selfish and pretty hate worthy a lot of the time. However, his internal struggles are compelling and you cannot help but feel for his pain. Serena is such a lovable woman. She is strong, feisty, adventurous and I could not have imagined a better match for our dear Wraith.

I absolutely loved the plot in this book. I don't want to give anything away, but it was so intense and awesome, I just could not put it down and even finished the book in less than a day. There were plenty of action and surprises along the way that just kept me at the edge and the sexiness of it just about got my blood to a boil. Wraith and Serena are so hot together and their chemistry was amazing.

I can't leave out the secondary couple in this book. Kynan is back and has decided to fight for Gem. Even thought they are not the main couple, their story is so sweet and tough that you can't help but get involved.

This series just keeps getting better and better and I am an unconditional fan of Larissa Ione. Her words just flow seemingly as though they were written without effort. This series is already in as one of my favorites ever and I recommend it to anyone that enjoys the paranormal and a lot of sexiness hehe =)

TBRJar Pull Thoughts: Passion Unleashed by Larissa Ione just should not have set on my audio shelf for as long as it did! Really enjoyed it!

Quick Thoughts: Love Wraith and Serena (knew that from the other books though--yep I did not read this series in order) but wasn't in love with the story surrounding them. It was entertaining but not my favorite in the series. Them as a couple though, close to the top!

Audio Thoughts:

Narrated by: Renee Raudman /Length: 12 hrs and 11 mins

This is one of those series with several narrators but really Renee, Cassandra, and Hillary are the best of the bunch. Well worth the listen!

Passion Unleashed is the third installment of Demonica and follows Wraith, the troublesome youngest brother of Eidolon and Shade.

Recently transitioned into a full fledged Seminus demon, Wraith, the only known vampire, Seminus hybrid, is out to satisfy his needs and live life to its fullest regardless of who he crosses along the way. That way of living eventually costs Wraith dearly when one of the beings he crosses happens to be an assassin with Wraith at the top of his list. Not sure who sent the hit on him, Wraith is incapacitated after being hit with a dart that he later finds out is tipped with a slow acting poison that has no antidote. Realizing the hit was placed on him by none other than his somewhat dead brother Roag, Wraith is determined to find a way to save his life. When he discovers that there is a Marked Sentinel that has been charmed with immortality, and that he can take that charm by taking her virginity, Wraith is ready to let his Seminus persuasions take over to win back his life. Masquerading as a former Aegis member named Josh, Wraith soon finds out that taking advantage of Miss Serena Kelley, the keeper of his prize, was much more difficult than he realized.

Serena Kelley has a gift. She is able to find just about anything she sets her mind to. While traveling the globe in search of artifacts may be a dangerous job for some, she is fearless as a result of her charm. Gifted with her charm at a young age, Serena was given the necklace and protection after being bitten by a demon and given only a short time to live. As the keeper of Heofon, an actual piece of Heaven, Serena was gifted with a protection spell that prevents her from being harmed or killed, thus preventing the poison from taking her life. The only way her charm can be taken, is if she gives it to another being which means giving her virginity along with it. Of course she knows that will not happen anytime soon and while she may have promiscuous thoughts on occasion, there has not been a man she has even looked at long enough to make her want to give up her charm. That is until Josh crosses her path. Devilishly good looking, Josh was confident in his appearance as well as his ability to help Serena find the latest artifact she is looking for. The problem was, Serena could not keep thoughts of him out of her head. She wanted him and knew that she shouldn't because he was irresistible and could threaten her prize that she has held so dear. Every time she is near him she thinks of kissing him or worse, having sex with him. What she found more, odd was the fact that in her dreams, he had fangs. Sharp, sexy ,fangs that she imagined would pierce her throat in such a way that she would never want him to stop. Too bad he is human right?

While Wraith and Serena are on their escapades in search of artifacts, all Hell breaks loose at Underworld General. Things stop working, Eidolon and Shade keep getting sick, and everyone is on edge. They can sense something bad is coming and no one can figure out why. As the truth behind the artifacts Wraith and Serena are looking for is uncovered, Eidolon and Shade realize that their illnesses and the hospital's problems are not coincidental. Someone is trying to open the gate between Heaven and Sheoul (Hell) and it is up to Wraith to save not only himself, but life as he knows it for everyone in existence.

Wraith is an emotional roller coaster in this story. After being tortured by his own mother and forced to take sex and blood from human females, he is disgusted with himself as a mature Seminus demon and refuses to feed on or have sex with humans ever again. Not only that, but he detests vampires, including himself. Living constantly on the edge, Wraith had not a care in the world until he realized everything his brothers had been doing to protect him throughout the years they have been together. Forcing his S'genesis transition along to avoid uncontrollable urges, Wraith does what Seminus demons do best, tries to impregnate females. Feeling alone now that his brothers have families, Wraith's abandonment issues are starting to take hold. When he is poisoned and finds out the only way to get well is to have sex with a human female, Wraith's past catches up with him and he if forced to deal with the horrors he grew up with. His relationship with Serena is a sweet one. When Wraith learns the truth about why Serena was given the charm, his compassion shows through and he begins to realize that perhaps there are more important things than his own life. As his fondness for Serena grows, he is constantly battling what he wants and what he needs in order to determine if he should help her, or help his brothers. Unfortunately, he also realizes his life is tied to much more than the body it is resides in.

I must make a side note that there is more to this story than Wraith and Serena. Throughout the ups and downs, we revisit Kynan Morgan and Gem who have been steady characters in the previous books. Kynan now knows he is somehow part angel and part of a prophecy dealing with the end of the world. What that means for his future, he just doesn't know and right now, he doesn't care. All he cares about, is fixing things with Gem. Kynan is finally ready to deal with his emotions and tell Gem the truth about how he feels but jealousy rears its ugly head when Kynan sees Gem in the hospital parking lot kissing a man he doesn't recognize. Confronting her at her apartment to apologize, his efforts go South (literally) when his desires take over. Finding himself yet again, with an angry Gem after a steamy encounter, Kynan is not sure how to prove to her, or himself that his is a worthy man. When the time comes to prove his worth, Kynan is ready to give up everything to save the ones he loves and finally find his purpose.

Between Gem and Kynan, and Wraith and Serena, there are a number of sexy scenes that will make you squirm. Sex aside (although the sex is inspiring) the tender moments between all four characters are touching. Wraith's determination to be gentle with Serena will make you melt, and his awakening to what it is to be loved is heart wrenching. When Wraith realizes someone as precious as Serena can love a demon like him, Wraith will stop at nothing to save her, his family and perhaps the world itself to prove he is worthy of being loved. A nonstop roller coaster ride, full of surprises, Passion Unleashed is a paranormal story that is not to be missed.

Serena is a treasure hunter and archaeologist with a divine secret. She has been charmed by angles so that no physical charm can fall on her and no demons can know about that charm. Unfortunately that charm has been found out by a very powerful demon with his mind set on a VERY evil plan. Now demons can sense her and who she is.

Wraith is poisoned with a toxin that has no cure and the only way to save him, the hospital and his two brothers is to take Serena's charm so he wont die. The problem is Wraith meets Serena and actually likes her.

Ok, so I really like Wraith, he is the youngest of the three Seminus demons. He has lived such a hard and tortured life that I just want everything to go well for him. In his story he has to push past his rules of never being with a human and I love the struggle he has with liking Serena or saving his brothers. We get to hear a lot more about what life was like for him and we see the effects from his point of view, not just the brothers.

This book also continues the story of Jem and Kynan. Jem is Tayla's sister (book 1) and is also a half demon (soul shredder). Kynan is ex-military/ex-demon slayer/ex-ish-demon hospital doctor. His wife cheated on him with a demon and was selling parts in the black market, after that betrayal he didn't want to love again. Jem always loved Kynan and when he wanted nothing to do with her and her demon side she finally was ok with that. But of course the two of them are strongly attracted to each other. Right when you think they are going to get together the army comes in and takes Kynan to study him.... apparently he has some fallen angel blood. Seeing there story continue was so needed in this book because book 2 left us on a complete cliff hanger.

Reviewed at Another Look Book Reviews

Wow book 3 of the Demonica Series, Passion Unleashed, was by far the best one yet. I simply loved it. Passion Unleashed was action packed from the beginning to the very exciting end.

I liked Wraith in the first two books. I felt that his vulnerability meshed well with his "whatever" attitude. There are many tragic heroes written in oodles of Paranormal and Urban Fantasy novels yet I felt Larissa Ione did an excellent job of having Wraith own his character without duplication. Wraith's past is truly heartbreaking.

Serena was a perfectly written match for Wraith. It was easy to believe that the bad boy Wraith was going to fall heavy and hard for her. It felt the couple was in a doomed situation and the angst story line was excellently written. I wasn't sure how much more conflict and interference the pair could take. The pair endured a lot and it made for great reading.

A new character Lore was introduced and I am interested in learning more about him. In fact the Demonica series has a great secondary cast of characters that I'm just as eager to read about. Gem and Kynan had a great side story that fit perfectly into Passion Unleashed. I think their interesting story line completely enhanced the book.

One thing I really like about this Demonica series is that each book tidies up the main plot but leaves just enough questions to pick up the next book in the series. I have no idea who the next book is about but I can't wait to see what next adventure or tragedy hits Underground General Hospital.

"Passion Unleashed" is book 3 in Larissa Ione's Demonica series. And this one is the much-anticipated story of Wraith. In previous books, we've learned that Wraith isn't quite right. He is the only vampire-Seminus demon hybrid and he had a horrible childhood. He was tortured by his vampire mother and her people until he was rescued by his brothers. Therefore, he hates vampires... and in no small way, he hates what he is. As part of his torture, his mother would throw human women in a cage with him. He had needs as both a vampire and an incubus and used the women accordingly. He hated himself for it, but he couldn't ignore his body's demands. Now, he won't sleep with or feed from a human woman.

In the last book, "Desire Unchained (Demonica, Book 2)," we found out that Wraith's brother Roag isn't as dead as everyone thought... and he's out for vengeance. He hired a hitman to take out Wraith before he met his fate.

So as we launch this book, Wraith is poisoned. The toxin has no cure. But it turns out a human woman named Serena carries a special charm that keeps her immune from harm and in good health. The only way Wraith can get his hands on the charm (and save his own life) is to take her virginity. Unfortunately, if he takes the charm from her, a deadly childhood disease will return, killing her within days.

He fights the idea, but eventually gives in. Only to fall in love with her. You see, Wraith's not the only one who wants that charm. The bad guys want it too, so they can bring a sort-of hell on Earth. (It's complicated.) Wraith's mission changes to one of protection for Serena. Unfortunately, things get even more complicated when brothers Eidolon and Shade start to get sick and their hospital starts to crumble. The structure was built on the blood, sweat and tears of the brothers, tying their lives and the building together.

A great secondary story follows the reunion of demoness Gem and former demon-hunter Kynan. Just as Gem tries to move on from her love (infatuation) with Kynan, he comes back ready to make it work with her. These two have more bumps in the road than Wraith and Serena.

Speaking of our main characters, it comes down to who is willing to sacrifice themselves so that the other can live. And the question really is, no matter who ends up with the charm, how can there be a happily ever after if one of them is dead?

Even though Serena can't have sex for most of the book, there are plenty of steamy scenes to enjoy. It was a good book... smart and sexy. 4 1/2 stars.

P.S. Why does the cover model have his nipples airbrushed out? It bothers me.

Wraith has had a hard life since conception. His mother was in the middle of her turning into a vampire when Wraiths father found her and raped her. He then kept her in a in between status while, continuing to rape her till she delivered Wraith then he took off leavening the newborn pure Seminus demon in the hands of vampires. Once he was old enough to no longer need a wet nurse he was put in a cage and tortured. Once his transition hit him he was given prostitutes to rape and feed from, when he refused he was beaten more. He got away from them only to be caught again and beaten to near death. The only thing that saved him is E and Shade had felt his agony through their bond, then came for him, and saved him.
Wraith lived a self destructive life, with no concern for any one not even the brothers who loved him so. I love Wraith I could see the love in him even if he put on the front that he didn't care about anyone or anything, like the way he took a liking to Kenyon, even though he liked to pretend he didn't like that human. He also cares a lot for the hospital that his brothers had worked so hard to build and run. He even enjoys his work he does for the hospital even though he knows it is only to keep him out of trouble.
After finding out he had been injected with a poison that there is no cure, Wraith was willing to except that fate, but E told him his life force is tied to the hospital and if he died the hospital will go down with him and he could not do that to his brothers. The only way to survive is to find the charmed human Serena and take her charm by taking her virginity. This was against everything Wraith felt, not only does he not sleep with humans but to take a virgin, he would have to pay pence to the Seminus council for that one. But upon meeting Serena, under the illusion he was a man she was to meet named Josh, all bets were off.
Serena had never met a man like Josh/Wraith. He brought about feelings she was not suppose to feel for any one must less a man. She knew that he would be dangerous to her but she couldn't stay away from him, and she had to admit with all the demons chasing her she needed him to protect her. But if she gave in and gave up her virginity and she charm she would die. Serena is shy and cute, I liked her she stood her ground with Wraith and she even tried to protect him at times, which made me like her even more
The world at stake, if anyone got a hold of Serena and her amulet, and Wraiths life on the line, not to mention the fact Wraith was falling in love with Serena. Will he be able to take her charm and end her life? Even if it means that he will save his brothers and the world?
I loved this book it is my favorite in this series. I love Wraith he has a tender heart no one seen coming. I love the story line of Gem and Kenyon in this book. The introduction of Lore was great to I did not see that coming at all. I think as usual Larissa made a great book.

Wraith thought his only worry would be getting through his s'genesis and not going insane being unmated. As a Seminus demon, Wraith will need to have sex quite often to meet his body's needs. That was before he was poisoned with something that has no known cure. When the only possible cure was located, Wraith was even more against it as it involved a human woman. But his death would place not only the hospital in danger but also his brothers. Wraith is faced with a choice of saving his life and therefore his brothers, and the hospital or protecting a human woman.

Serena Kelly is an archaeologist by trade but in actuality is more of a treasure hunter. Serena also protects a very old secret. She has done this since she was seven. This secret keeps her safe and young, but there is a trade off, Serena must stay a virgin. On a new treasure hunt, Serena meets a man who captures her attention unlike any other. Staying a virgin has never really a problem until she meets Wraith and learns just what passion is.

Wraith and Serena meet when the world seems to be falling apart. Demons focused on killing and causing pain are coming out of everywhere and the worst seem to be focused on Serena. Finding out why becomes almost as important to Wraith as seducing Serena and saving his life. Wraith is also determined to find a way to save Serena's life if he succeeds with his mission. He has learned that to save his life will kill hers and that is unacceptable. Serena is Wraith's mate and his to protect at all costs. Danger and suspense lead to the climatic battle and depending on who wins will affect many lives and just maybe how the demons and humans interact going forward.

Never trust a demon is the byline Serena has gone by until Passion Unleashed and Wraith. Since losing her mother, Serena has lived life hunting one treasure after another for the council. Wraith has helped out his brothers at the hospital when needed, but he has never really felt like he had a place in the world. Serena is looking for something that might save the world and Wraith is looking for Serena to save his life and others. Going under a guise is normal for Wraith but I was happy to see that he really wanted Serena to know him for himself. I love suspense and was more than fulfilled while Wraith and Serena's story unrolled before me. I was also surprised and happy to see more than one happy ending. I was afraid that this might be the end of the Demonica series, but Ms. Ione had surprises up her sleeve and I see at least one more book and hopefully several others in this series. Passion Unleashed combines danger with erotic pleasure in a way that will keep you turning the pages. A keeper for any paranormal and suspense library.

When I first opened Pleasure Unbound (Book 1) last year, I instantly fell in love with Ione's fantasy world, her writing, and her characters-- especially E. Face it, when you start such a spectacular series like this, it's hard not to fall for the first hero you are introduced to. He'll stick in your mind for the rest of the series, towards the top of your list, even as you are introduced to more sexy alpha males. And even as much as I loved Shade's book, (review here), E's story was still fresh in my mind, too. I thought it would stay that way forever...

...And then I started Wraith's book, Passion Unleashed, and E, poor E, was the last guy on my mind! :D

I love the bad guy appeal on a hero as much as the next person, but when we were first introduced to Wraith in book one, he was just a 'so-so' character. I think it was because we knew very little about him, and he seemed to (on the surface) not give a sh** about anyone else. But after reading even a few pages of his story, I was hooked-- I needed more Wraith. Wraith became my favorite of all the brothers, hands down. Not only because of his story, which was AMAZING, but also because of him, and the drastic change he makes in Passion Unleashed.

Besides my complete obsession with Wraith, I also enjoyed this book because of the story line-- Ione keeps us on the edge of the seat until the very end. Will they be able to find a way to keep Wraith (and the other two brothers) alive before it's too late? Will they be able to stop the demons from taking over?

Larissa Ione may not have as many books out as some of the other paranormal authors in the business, but the fan base that some authors accomplish after twenty years of books, I'm convinced that Ione can accomplish with only her Demonica series! Like all of her previous Demonica books, Passion Unleashed has everything-- touching romance, witty conversations, captivating story lines, full-blown paranormal themes (demons and vampires and werewolves, oh my!), and, of course, amazingly steamy love scenes. And be prepared for more than a few surprises along the way..... A new character comes into the story, and he'll play a big part in future books, I'm sure. ;) Really, what more do you need? Add in Wraith's interesting conversation and you have a picture perfect book. :)

I keep pressing 'delete' while writing this review, but no matter how long I stare at the computer and try to rewrite it, I'll never be able to do Passion Unleashed the justice it deserves. I can't even beginning to explain all the little things that made me love this book like I did, it's simply too hard! All I can say is if you've been waiting for Wraith's story from book one, you won't be disappointed! Wraith's story is hot hot hot, but it's still got a solid romance between the hero and heroine, it's not just pure lust driven sex 24/7. After all, for Wraith to change his ways like he does, you know that she's got to mean a lot to him!

5/5 STARS! Amazing, passionate... there are not enough good words in the world to describe it! But I will say this: if you thought that the Demonica series would end with Wraith, you're wrong. Like I said, a new hero comes into the story line in this book, and according to her website, she has another 2 books planned, though they won't be available until next year and the year after! ARRGH! There is no way I can survive the wait. Whatever will I do? Why, re-read Wraith's delicious story, of course!

I find Larissa Ione's writting to be disturbingly addictive. Her first two Demonica books were great. This, the third, is not quite as good but still above average. In short it's a series about demons who run a hospital for other demons and supernatural beings. I found the entire concept of a demon hospital to be delightfully creepy. I also like that Ione isn't afraid to create characters who's base nature is evil, and yet allow them to have a love story. It's seedy, gothic cheesiness at it's best.

This book in particular is about Wraith, a Seminus demon who's entire life consists of mating and fighting. Wraith is best described as messed up. He was tortured as a child and generally has no clear grip on right or wrong. An assasin infects him with a deadly poison that begins to kill him slowly--and there is no cure. As he dies, the hospital begins to fall apart, because Wraith and his brothers have bound their life-forces to it. The brothers rush to find a solution, and discover that Wraith's life might be saved if he can acquire a special charm that would make him human. To do this he must take the virginity of the charm's current possesor, a human named Serena. The catch is that once the charm is taken, Serena will die. Wraith sets out intending to steal the charm as quickly as possible, but ends up falling in love with Serena instead. He is forced to make a choice between his life and hers.

I was surprised by how romantic this was. Wraith is not my favorite character, but he does manage to redeem himself a lot in the end. Serena is interesting, but doesn't change or develope much. The plot is fairly fast paced--almost too much so. I couldn't really say why this wasn't as good as the other two, but it was just not on the same level. Overall, worth reading.

Now that his brothers, Eidolon and Shade, have found mates and their evil brother, Roag, has been dealt with, Wraith can get back to doing what he does best--think of himself. Except now he knows the effects his past transgressions have had on his brothers and maybe, just maybe, they're the only people he cares about enough to try and curb his bad-boy ways. Now post s'genesis he should be controlled by just one urge. But when he's poisoned and no cure exists the one thing he should be obsessed with has to hit the backburner. He has to find Serena Kelley, a human marked by angels, and get her to willingly give up her virginity to him. If he can do that the charm that protects her will be passed to him saving him from death. The only problem is that once he does that, the illness her mark protects her from will kill her.

As if that isn't enough trouble, someone else wants Serena's charm and there's mysterious unrest within Sheoul (hell). Something cataclismic is brewing and only Wraith and Serena can stop it... if they live long enough. In the end the human and demon races may just have to put aside their differences to save the world!

There is so much plot packed into this book that giving a decent summary without too much spoilerishness was tough. If you've been reading the Demonica series already you've probably been looking forward to seeing how Ione would settle down her devil-may-care brother. Fortunately, she's found an excellent way to deliver a great urban fantasy story with touches of Indiana Jones-esque adventure that makes the romance between Wraith and Serena come together very seamlessly. At first I will admit I wasn't so sure about the pairing based on personalities but as the story went on they grew on me a lot. I'm not a big fan of 'virgin' plot devices but this one really suited the Demonica realm.

Once again, Ione does a fabulous job of keeping the romance and the adventure parts of the story in balance, a feat not easily done but becoming more and more popular in paranormal romances. For readers who prefer a straight-up romance where outside plot is secondary this book might be a stinker, the romance does occasionally feel secondary to the saving-the-world story. What really won me as a reader this time around was the surprises Ione threw in. Once you read the book you'll probably know exactly which ones I am thinking of and enjoy them as well. Any reader who likes not seeing a little something coming will be happy to know there were a few here.

Overall, I loved Passion Unleashed. It was filled with romance, adventure and loads of sexual tension (and yes, hot sex too!). If this was the end of a trilogy I'd say it ties up the trio nicely but I'm glad to say this one leaves us with plenty of room for more Demonica novels to come.

In Brooklyn Seminus demon Wraith chooses his prey carefully as all predators do, but also being a vampire he adheres to the Vampire Council ruling of one human kill a month. Still he enjoys hunting down the Upir gang, human vermin owned by vampires who appreciate blood sports especially since he can kill the vamps as if they are rodents. However, this time an unknown demon species hits him with a poisoned dart.

Two weeks later, he awakens from unconsciousness to learn from his peers he has been poisoned and will die in four to six weeks unless he can obtain a charm possesses by archeologist Serena Kelley, who must willingly give him her artifact by giving him her virginity. Egotistical about his seduction prowess as an Incubus class demon, Wraith goes on the hunt with his prey being Serena. When she was seven years old, her mother gave her the charm that he covets and which has made her immortal; the only stipulation is that she must remain a virgin. However, he is not alone as the demon Byzamoth also wants that charm for a nefarious evil purpose.

The third Demonica romantic urban fantasy (see PLEASURE UNBOUND and DESIRE UNCHAINED) is fast-paced from the onset in Brownsville and never slows down until the exhilarating climax in which much more than just two "souls" are at stake. Readers will be enthralled by the action and the charmed lead couple as the irresistible object (an incubus demon) meets the immovable force (an immortal mortal) as one must give up their immortality though both have eternal dreams; while also simply saving the world (something seems to always intrude).

Serena Kelley closely guards two things... a charm that keeps her invincible to the danger all around her and her virginity. If she gives up her virginity she loses the invincibility and she'll die of the disease that was affecting her when she was given the charm to save her life at age seven.

While out hunting one night, Wraith a Seminus (sex) demon was hit with a poisonous dart. The only thing that can save him is the charm Serena holds. As he sets about seducing her he learns some unexpected things: if he dies, his two brothers also die and the Underworld hospital they run is destroyed. Plus if Serena loses the charm the gates between Heaven and Hell are destroyed and Armageddon will begin on earth.

Who will prevail when all options lead to death and destruction?

I absolutely loved this book. There are actually two sets of characters that are followed in this book that ultimately tie together in the end. Obviously the world doesn't end and Wraith saves the day but the storyline is very unique with a couple of twists that I didn't see coming. The sex scenes are very steamy but not at all crass which in my opinion can take away a lot from a book.

Passion Unleashed is book three in the Demonica series and I have yet to read Pleasure Unbound or Desire Unchained but I highly recommend reading them first. I wasn't lost but the back story on a lot of the characters in this book are explained in those two books. I'm definitely reading those two and looking forward to book 4, Ecstasy Unveiled coming in February 2010.

Passion Unleashed by Larissa Ione is a great story. It is action, adventure, danger, romance, hot chemistry between hero and heroine, and an alpha male hero who comes across with such devotion and tenderness for the heroine. I would suggest, since this story is the third in a series, that you read at least one of the other two first. I didn't read them in order myself, I went to the second story first, and I wasn't too confused.

Archeologist Serena Kelley is a human protected by a powerful charm that she wears around her neck. No one can hurt her unless they take her virginity. And the hero, Wraith, needs to take her virginity away from her, or else he dies, along with both of his brothers. Wraith is a Seminus demon who was poisoned, and there is only one cure, and that is Serena. But there is a condition. If he takes her virginity, he might live, but she will die.

When he meets Serena, he is thrown for a loop because he has feelings for her that only intensify the longer that they are in each others company. He wants to protect her, but he doesn't want to die, he doesn't want his brothers to die, and he has just found out that if he doesn't take her virginity and her charm, Armageddon among his people might start. This is a terrific story, and the best one of the three, although the second one runs a close runner-up for me. 5 stars!!

Well other reviews gave the synposis of the story. So I will not repeat but here are my thoughts. This is a well written book....so much so you can forget they are not real people. It was just a great balance of the old characters (Wraith's two brothers Eidolon and Shade and their wives) and new characters. But if you are reading the book by itself with out having read the 1st two you could still follow and not feel lost and enjoy it on its own but it will have you feeming to read the first two afterwards. Wraith is a character you love or hate as to how he handles as an adult the torture he endured as a child/young man. My complaint with some of the other paranormal series now-a-days is the drawn out torture that the "heroes" must endure. Sometimes it is too much even just to read about people you know are not real, Ione did it well, enough to let you know how bad it was but not overkill. and the heroine Serena seemed like someone you think you already know, you can like her, root for her and her faults make you like her even more, because she seems so life-like and real and the interaction between Wraith and Serena was great. The book had a lot of unexpected things in it that I will absolutely not spoil, it just made me stay up all night reading it to see what would happened next. Looking forward to the next book whoever's it might be.

A modern day Indian Jones with a paranormal twist. Two treasure hunters come together for two different reasons.

Yummy Wraith meets his match in Serena. These two not only steam up the pages of the book but also give each other a run of emotions. I was surprised how much I enjoyed Wraith, and also how quickly they fall in lust - and then love.

Wraith is a redeemable hero who deserves happiness just like his brothers, but Wraith has some lessons to learn along the path to love. Finding ones mate changes their perspective on life and the things you do to keep it safe, the sacrifices made to keep them safe.

Serena is the perfect match for Wraiths bad attitude, crazy sarcasm, and off the wall humor. She meets him head first and is the one who can bring him to his knees, but also the one who will join him on the floor.

I loved this book and both the characters. This world that Ione created captivates you and makes you love the good and bad of everything that happens. Every character has the potential to wrap your heart and make you cheer them on. This series is wickedly good and everyone who loves a good paranormal book should read Larissa Ione

I've mentally called half vampire/half demon brother Wraith 'Wrath' in the past two Demonica books, because that just seemed to fit with his aura of darkness, anger and death, but amazingly that all changes here. Oh *fans self* when bad boys go good, yum!

On a mission to gain a reprieve from his impending death from a deadly poison for which there is no antedote, Wrath starts out pretending to be human and decent in order to facillitate the seduction that will save his life. But in acting that role - and for the first time in his life letting someone get close to him - Wraith is blindsided by the discovery that he actually does have a heart and a conscience. And by making Wraith's mate Serena the one woman he can't have without killing, Ione builds the tension between the pair to an incredible level. The result is smoking hot and poignant both.

The the Demonica series starter, Pleasure Unbound (Demonica, Book 1), was my favorite new series release of last year and Passion Unleashed book 3 in the series is even better. I loved incubus demon Wraith's transition, from the bad boy of the first books who used sex and violence to help him hide from the torture of his past. In fact unlike his brother Eiodolan who feared the final incubus maturation, Wraith not only embraced it hoping for the mindlessness of the incubus extreme sexual need, but actually hastened it. And I loved the way that author Ione takes Wraith through his transition.

Along with Wraith's story, Passion Unleashed finishes up the thread between former leader of the demon-hunter's, the 'heavenly' Kynan, and demoness Gem which has run through all the books in the series. I have to admit that after the first book I was really looking forward to this pairing, after the second book I was not too happy - Kynan's treatment of Gem didn't fit with his character in the first book and it was not pretty - and I was perhaps even a bit more disappointed with their story here when I read the book the first time. On the second read though it didn't strike me the same, their reunion was rough but they end up in the right place at the end with a painfully earned happily ever after.

And on to the future... Ione introduces an intriguing new character, assassin Lore who able to kill with a touch - which is death to his bed partners. Lore will be the star of Demonica book 4 (not 'til 2010 though) and there is also a 5th book planned, possibly Gem and Kynan's spawn? Can't wait. If you don't mind a touch of darkness in your PNR I highly recommend Ione's Demonica series - Pleasure Unbound (#1) and Passion Unleashed are 5 star reads and Desire Unchained(#2) a respectable 4 stars.

Oh, as P.S. - don't miss the bonus the short story The Reckoning - where Eiodolan and Shade find and save Wraith- it's hidden behind the Demonica Compendium at the end of the book.

YES! YES! YES! Excuse me, I'm having a private moment ;) I finished "Passion Unleashed" by Larissa Ione and I must say that this is one series I'm so very glad I'm hooked on. Her Demonica novels take place in an intricately built world, with enough differences from the raft of paranormals available to distinguish themselves. The characters are NOT one-dimensional caricatures of one creature or another...oh no, Ione has a vast selection of characters with multi-layered personalities on top of the traits attributable to their species and these differences from the average urban fantasy or paranormal romance today are just a couple of the things that make her novels stand-outs, IMHO :)

In "Passion Unleashed" we finally get the story of Wraith, a sex demon who's 'gotta have it'! So 'have it' he does...often and with vigor. He's the 'bad boy' of the three brothers we've read about so far and Ione certainly puts him to the test in his love story. Wraith has been infected with a poison that has no antidote. He's only got one chance to save his life...find the 'Chosen' virgin and 'deflower' her. Hey! He's a sex demon--no problem.

Serena is one of the 'Chosen'--she holds a relic that would be pivotal in the event of Armageddon. This same relic is all that protects her from an incurable disease she contracted at a young age. So holding on to her virginity isn't really a choice...it's the only thing keeping her alive. Good thing Armageddon isn't on the calendar, huh? Ummm, hold that thought. There's a fallen Angel turned renegade and he's after Serena's relic. So the chase...I mean race, is on. Oh, just one more thing. The fallen Angel can TAKE the relic from Serena, but Wraith will have to seduce it from her. But really, sex demon, no problem, right?

I don't mean to make this book sound like a light-heated paranormal romance, because it's not. Although there is much more humor in this story than the previous two, it's still a nail-biter of a suspense/action novel. And Ione doesn't let the action/suspense overcome the love aspect either. Both Wraith and Serena face life and death decisions that will affect not just themselves, but their friends, loved ones, and heck...the whole world! No pressure.

Others have reviewed "Passion Unleashed" and gone into more detail so I won't take up your time with more words. What I will say is that if you like urban fantasy, spicy paranormal romance, action and suspense, drama, and hot supernatural creatures...RUN, don't walk, to your nearest bookstore and pick up this whole series.

Demon/Vamp Male and an Immortal-Human Female -
Wraith is half vampire and half seminus-demon that knows torture intimately, from his vamp mother no less! Because of this he has a not so nice view on love, females and family in general; he works with his brothers at the hospital by doing what he does best and that's bringing in rare items requested by his older brother, but tries to have as little interaction with them as possible. He is in no way looking for anything permanent with a female.
Serena is a treasure hunter that runs into some trouble by the name of Wraith when she becomes the treasure! These two make archeology hot and keep the pages turning with their passion and adventures; least of all the fact that they are racing to save the world in good vs. evil type situation that enlists the aid of demons, vamps, weres, enchanted humans and of course fallen angels.
Passion Unleashed (Demonica, Book 3) is a must read for serious paranormal romance fans. Letha's "Romance Read Scale" - (2) Dark & Steamy

Other reviewers have talked about the plot and summarized what happens in this book. So please read them! Just take my advice, this book was fun and definetly a page-turner and a must-read for fans of Ione's demon's series!!

Eidolon, Shade, and Wraith are demons working tireless to stop evil as it erupts around them in Ione's new book. Wraith is soulful and you really get an in-depth view of his character...and what made him act the way he has in the past two stories. His heroine is smart and it's honestly believable that the two characters were meant for eachother.

I loved watching the buildup between the two. There were plenty of twists but all believable so as not to go over the top. The ending was fabulous and the shocker that occurs in the past few chapters make me excited to read her next story.

Please don't let this book get away from you! Fantastic story by a fantastic author!! :)

These books keep getting better and better! I loved finally reading Wraith's story and watching him evolve. We get to see every layer of his person stripped until he is bare, figuratively and literally. I also love Serena. She is such a rich and relatable character. The two together are dynamite. I can't wait to continue the series!

Passion Unleashed is the third book in a series about Seminus demon brothers who own and manage Underworld General (a hospital beneath NYC). It is an awesome series. I especially enjoy the fact that this book builds on others in the series and keeps the characters interacting. We get a glimpse of Eidolon and Tayla's relationship with each other and with other characters and updates on Shade and Runa's life and triplets. Never thought Shade would be the one "joined at the hip to his mate." All of this contributes to making the storyline more believable and so much more interesting.

From the moment Wraith appeared in Pleasure Unbound, he was my favorite and I couldn't wait for his book. I am disappointed the book is over and that I will have to wait until 2010 for the next installment.

Like all other selfish, mixed up bad boys Wraith is surprised to find that he is falling in love (with a human virgin!!) and tries desperately to extricate himself from the situation while sticking to the plan (save his life by taking Serena's virginity). Parallel to this story is Gem and Kynan's relationship that never finds resolution until close to the end of the story. There are a few moments where it didn't seem things could possibly work out but Wraith ends up saving the world, getting his lady and finding his way.

This series is a winner. Larissa Ione has hit the jackpot; I am hooked.

I loved the plot lines involving the auxiliary characters in this one. Gem and Kynan's story unfolds in between the action of Wraith and Serena's journey. Lots of action and steamy scenes with the backdrop of relic hunting and looming Armageddon. It was right up my alley! Now I want to learn more about Lore!

Very hot series! This is the third in the series about three demon brothers. Wraith being the most volatile of the three. He was the reckless one that the other two brothers had to continuously clean up after. Yet, when things come to a crescendo (even more so then the previous books--we're talking Armageddon, people) it takes someone with Wraith's passion and loyalty to accomplish the greatest of task.

There were many surprises in this book. I would recommend new readers to this series to begin with book one, or you wouldn't get the complexity of this one.

This is the third book in Larissa Ione's Demonica Series. It is just as good or better than the 1st two. It, like the previous books features one of the Sem Brothers. This book is action packed and contains all the elements that the other two books had that had me begging for more. The sex is hot, the plot fantastic, the secondary characters just as interesting as the main ones. Wow, Larissa Ione, you have outdone yourself, again!

I'd definately recommend reading this series in order.

This book was one of my favorites in the series. Wraith is a hard character to like often in these books but he has a huge turnaround in this book and he actually becomes likeable. As always we can count on the sex being great and the story continues through this book to leave you ready for the next!

Serena Kelley is a treasure-hunter, adventurer, and accomplished thief. All of which keeps her mind off the fact that she's a virgin, and must remain that way. Charmed by angels, she can come to no harm. This allows her to protect one of Heaven's most powerful artifacts. Should she lose that charm, a childhood disease will return to claim her life.

Wraith is the third of a trio of Seminus Demon brothers who run Underworld General, a hospital for demons and other non-humans. Wraith is in a world of hurt, as he's been poisoned by a fourth very nasty brother named Roag. He'll die unless he can track down Serena and steal her charm by claiming her virginity. For himself, the demon with a deathwish would probably let this beautiful human alone-but as time passes, it becomes clear that the poison in Wraith is killing his brothers as well, and destroying the hospital they've worked so hard to build. As Wraith's feelings for Serena grow, can he sacrifice her life, even for so much?

This is the third installment in the Demonica series, which follows a trio of demon brothers as they heal patients, fight slayers, and find love. While the idea of a demon hospital is intriguing, sadly, the setting is under-used, and the brothers may as well be running a bar. Tighter adherence to the hospital theme, as well as calling the series "Underworld General" rather than the more generic "Demonica", are on my wishlist. Nonetheless, Ione delivers an easy, fast-paced read. She goes light on the demon politics, building the world book by book, so it's a good idea to start at the beginning, with Pleasure Unbound. Starting at the beginning will also warm the reader to the idea that Wraith may be the least redeemable of the brothers, making his story all the more satisfying.

While the series isn't as soap-opera as it has the potential to be, there are regular characters whose stories move along in this book, and Ione takes a moment to introduce a new character, giving her fodder to continue the series. I recommend the Demonica series, and Passion Unleashed, as a good light read.

This book was fantastic, the best of the Demonica series. It had great action, romance and an engaging plot. Wraith's character was very well written and very sympathetic. The relationship between him and Serena was wonderful and touching. Wraith is definitely my favorite of the brothers (so far). I can't wait to read Lore's book!!

I really enjoy this newly-found author! Her writing style pulls me in and I cannot put it down. Ione intricately weaves multiple stories into each book, ensuring an enjoyable read! While you do t have to read the series in order, it may help. :)

I read erotica, paranormal romance, sexy reads and traditional sci fi. But I just couldn't get into this. I gave it away as a Xmas gift to a college student just getting into it. Maybe she won't notice the flaws cause she's a newbie. But I found the plot messy & crowded with too many characters and not enough focused story about the leads. And even the sex scenes I skipped ahead to couldn't convince me to stay with the book.

Of all the Demonica series, Wraith's story was the best. It definitely keeps you guessing on what's going to happen next. I though this series should have ended with Wraith and that would have been just fine. The two books after this book were not so great.
