This book is just chocked full of good, useful information. It is the answer book for anyone with hypothyroidism. Almost at the same time I learned about the hypothyroidism, I found out I have lupus also. This book has been a very useful informational guide to see that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. A lot of the symptoms overlap, so it is hard to know which is which sometimes.

This book has invaluable information which has been a huge help to me in realizing that the doctors have been telling me my thyroid is normal for years when it's not. Mary Shomon excellently explains what you need to know and the ammunition you need to go to a doctor and show him or her that you have a problem and need help. I highly recommend the book.

This book was suggested to me, since I was complaining so much about all the medical issues I have... I wish I had this book to read 6 years ago, then I would understand why I was feeling so blaw and out of it. I definitely would be able to talk to my doctor with the understanding of my problems... This book must be read by people with Thyroid problems! Amen!!

My primary care physician suggested I read another book on thyroid symptoms, and while I was buying it I found this book and bought it too. This book is great. It explains thyroid issues better than I have ever seen done. I like the fact that an advocate who has a thyroid condition wrote the book, however, the bulk of the book is input from practitioners (western and eastern methods) so you get a great crossover of information. I would recommend this book to anyone with a thyroid condition.

I've been looking for answers to hypothyroidism for 2 yrs. Read everything I could about it but not until I found this book did I really find answers. Ms. Shomon really gave answers to questions that should have been answered by doctors. It's a little too much information which I think could be bypassed but the book is definitely worth the money.

A very good book about hypothyroidism, full of info. Mary Shomon's books have not disappointed me yet, her "voice" is easy to read, she never condescends but it's like listening to a good friend describe an illness from symptoms to treatement.

Very helpful information that your doctor doesn't tell you and probably doesn't even know. I learned that I had been eating foods that are bad for my thyroid. I stopped eating them and now I notice that if I do eat them, my throat hurts - because my thyroid is inflamed.

I had been struggling with fatigue and mild depression, but chalked it up to aging and staying up too late and not exercising enough. When my hair started falling out I became alarmed and decided to visit my integrative health care practitioner. Thyroid was not something I knew much about, except the typical media influenced,"that's the excuse people have for being fat". I found out I have sub clinical hypothyroid with normal TSH but low T4. Not wanting to jump into a lifelong prescription, I read this book to further understand thyroid and the options I had for treatment. This book was helpful and very informative. Reluctantly, I filled my prescription, and was feeling better in a few days. If I was feeling the way I did with normal TSH, I can't imagine how awful people feel with elevated TSH.

I heard Mary Shomon speak on The People's Pharmacy on PBS. This book was touted to give the answers to a number of my questions. Although there is a good deal of information and an enormous reference section, there were no percentages that were spoken of on the program or lab numbers for normal TSH, T3 or T4. It did not measure up to the hype on the program.

I ordered this book and the The Thyroid Diet Revolution: Manage Your Master Gland of Metabolism for Lasting Weight Loss [Paperback] from the same author. The information in them helped me get my thyroid back under control. I found the information was essentially a repackaging between the two books so just one of the two books woud give the info you need - the other book has the diet info added so I feel it is the better product.
