This book explains the complications around hypothyroidism more clearly than I've ever heard. While I can't afford to have all the tests it suggests, I have been able to make some lifestyle changes that seem to be helping. It feels like Dr. Kharrazian is truly a pioneer in this field and i look forward to other studies that will confirm some of his more subtle discernments and their interventions.

This book can make the difference between having the energy to live your life as you want, or dragging yourself through life. 90% of Americans who have low thyroid due to Hashimoto's--an auto-immune condition. The additional effects of Hashimoto's is low blood sugar, which can become worse over time, like years. This book explains how Hashimoto's effects the body and subsequently blood sugar levels, then goes one to inform one what to do to raise the blood sugar level to normal, putting energy back into ones life! This book discusses the food regimen which also functions to enhance blood sugar levels and better digestion, important because 90% of ones immune system is in the digestion system (the "gut"). Many typical doctors are unaware of the additional effects of Hashimoto's on the body, as was mine.

Trendy holistic advice is offered here as legitimate medical advice. First, beware that fully half the pages in this book are "references," so you're actually only getting about 100 pages of information. Second, if you've already eliminated sugar and gone gluten-free, you've done everything this "doctor" is advising to resolve thyroid symptoms. Third, there's this direct quote: "Autism is the fault of the mom." That should tell you everything you need to know about this book without wasting your money.

This book is very thorough in explaining all aspects of thyroid. In fact it is almost too technical but it is a complicated subject. I would recommend it to others who had an inquiring mind. His recommendations are driven some by his own products which can only be purchased through a professional.

I was diagnosed 18 months ago with gluten intolerance and then a few months ago with Hashimoto's. Since auto-immune and thyroid issues run in the family I assumed it was just a result of genetics and getting older. After reading this book I understand that a lot of my problems are under my control. After going gluten free for a year I couldn't understand why I still had dizziness and fatigue. This book has helped me understand why and understanding is half the battle. Most of the explanations in the book are technical but not too technical for anyone that as already done a lot of research online about their condition. A lot of the concepts will sound familiar, but the detailed explanations put things together in a way that, for me at least, made me able to understand the interactions of the different body systems, and how my seemingly unrelated symptoms are really related.

I had hoped to enjoy this more and feel enlightened but I only got half way through and found myself giving up. Alas. I am sure many will enjoy it but it felt a bit 'dry' to me and I had just as many questions after as before. I think Chiropractor's are told to sell this to their customers as something to help people understand the Thyroid but I am none the wiser after this sadly. I ended up getting my answers elsewhere but I will keep this on my shelf in case someone wishes to have a look.

My daughter was diagnosed with Hashimoto's - and it wasn't until after being on 3 years of synthroid and Cytomel and pushing the doctor to help me figure out why the thyroid would get some inflamed - that she ordered a Gluten sensitivity test and it came back positive (without my daughter having any symptoms) Then I read in this book that is the first thing all Hashi's patients should do... so many good details and information about diet and the relationships of the different systems and how they can hurt or help the thyroid. We just found someone who follows this methodology for my daughter and I'm encouraged that she might get off all meds by the time she's 30... That makes me extremely excited and grateful to Dr. Kharrazian for taking the time to write this book!

This book is exceptionally good and really, scientifically, explains the reasoning behind the statements made. I recommend this to ANYONE on thyroid medication or those about to commence thyroid medication. If I had read this, I would not have gone on to medication that a. does not help me now and b. I cannot stop now as I am dependent on it. The reading on insulin resistance is very interesting

I was recently diagnosed with gallstones. As someone who already eats pretty healthy, I was shocked. But it lead me to research the gallstone/gallbladder issues and this is how I came across this book.

For the past 10 years, I have been complaining of different issues (fatigue, depression, weight gain, hair loss, feeling cold, etc, etc, etc). My doctor had run a couple of thyroid tests and both tests came back "fine". I really, truly thought I was crazy. How could I have all of these symptoms and still have thyroid tests that come back "fine"?

Turns out that what my doctor and lab considered "fine" was actually "not diseased". The diagnosis range is so wide (looking for diseases) that someone (like me) who had a test that feel within the "not diseased" range is dismissed as being ok, when in fact, it is outside of the "fuctional" range.

Reading this book really opened my eyes to the downfalls of "modern medicine". Most doctors (and labs) are disease managers, not function managers so any tests that do not fall within the scope of being diseased are ignored until they become diseases.

If you are having issues with fatigue, weight gain (despite being on a healthy eating plan and working out), depression, hair loss, feeling cold, etc, etc. If you have had thyroid tests done and were told you were "fine", you need to read this book...and then you need to demand a full thyroid panel be done and reviewed by a doctor who is looking for functional ranges and not disease ranges.

I highly recommend this book!!

This book not only has a lot of great information and advice, but is written in an "easy to understand" format. I have started using the information in this book, and feel much better mentally and physically. Highly recommend for anyone!

This is a good reference for people with Thyroid issues - the first to really explore the relationship between gluten intolerance and hypothyroidism. I have read many books on the subject, as well as candida/the yeast syndrome, and food allergies. This book addresses all of these issues and more. Just wish there was more consensue among the medical community, traditional and non-traditional, on how to properly treat this extremely common health issue and its associated problems.

This book brings to light so many confusing issues that people are struggling with. The problem we face is that there are so many over-lapping symptoms and Doctors do not see the bigger picture. They stay with their "expertise" and thus in so many cases make the situation worse, or only put a band-aid on the problems. This books empowers the sufferer to take action with knowledge to help themselves find the right solution to their ailment.

Very informative read. Got the digital format. Have been trying to implement the dietary suggestions of no wheat dairy or cheese. Difficult to do, but I think I do feel better!!
A lot of good info, makes sense.

This book is very helpful and revealing . . . . you will read things regarding your health that you never heard a doctor say before. A requirement for one of our caregivers, who takes treating his patients very seriously with expected patient participation for optimum results.

Although this book is great reading material, I plan to use it often as a resource. It's very informative! Although the title gives the impression it mostly covers symptoms when lab tests are normal, it can also be used to compare when you're lab values are not normal. Great book!

This seemed to be written more for a medical practitioner than the general public. I had some problems following all of the jargon associated with how the body produces and then uses hormones and the immune system's interaction with it all. I was looking for more of a 'leg bone's connected to the hip bone" layman's terms explanation of what I've found on the Internet. This book only added to the confusion by going too in depth with medical terminology and not breaking those things down for me. If I can better understand what's going on with my body then I can explain it to my doctor. This book talked over my head the same way my doctor does and only served to add to my frustration because I don't follow (maybe because of the brain fog associated with low thyroid function) what the author is trying to say.

Fifteen years after being diagnosed with hypothyroidism, I found out that I had an autoimmune disease that was wrecking havoc with my overall health! The revelation in this book is a must read for anyone with illnesses of the thyroid, adrenals and the broad host of autoimmune diseases! The analysis of the cause and effect was a perfect template of my direct experiences. Now I am empowered to address the CAUSE of my illnesses. Thanks!

Dr. Kharrazian writes about what I always suspected... That I should be concerned about my autoimmune system & lowering my antibodies rather than just treating my thyroid symptoms. I am excited to go visit one of the doctors he recommends on his website.
