I absolutely could not put this book down, once I got into the story. It kept me up until the wee hours and I got angry at myself because I had to stop reading it when my kindle told me my battery needed to be recharged.
This was my first DeMille read and I am looking for more.

Even though this was written before the loss of the Malaysian airliner, it provides even more suggestions for how many, and what types of things, could have happened. A thrilling and totally frightening, fast paced novel you can't put down.

I was immediately caught up in the suspense. More realistic now than when it was originally written in the late 1970's. This is the second book l have recently read that has all humans behaving badly after suffering brain damage from a natural disaster...strange concept but makes for a good story. I would recommend this book.

It makes a person shudder to think what can happen if a drone is let loose with a plane that is off course! This book was chilling! A lot of technical information.. But with the in between parts it was well worth the read.

If you like novels based around commercial flight (see also John Nance's books) you're going to like DeMille's book, Mayday. It's been around for a while, but I just discovered it and glad I did. Some of the story line at the end is a stretch, but if you can get around that you won't be sorry.

I have read this book several times, now, and was glad to finally get my own copy. I bought it used, and it showed up in pretty good condition. I would recommend the book to anyone who likes a good thriller. The first time I read it, I stayed up all night - couldn't put it down!

This book is very well written. It grabbed my interest from the first few pages and held it till the end. I didn't want to put it down. I lost a few hours of sleep cause I couldn't quit reading and get to bed. Always wanting to turn the page to see what was going to happen next. I definitely recommend this book!

I love this book. Everything but the kitchen sink is thrown at the heroes, but they overcome (heroically!) and a good time is had by all. The writer(s) wrestle with some very real moral conundrums, but they don't let them get in the way of the story.

Seriously, I had a hard time putting this book down! I got a little bogged down with the military/navy parts, but the authors pulled all the details together beautifully to make this a great read! There were times when I felt pure disgust and frustration with some of the characters, and so proud of others! I sometimes felt like I was an observer in the plot!! I have read so many Nelson DeMille books, but somehow overlooked this one! I could've sworn I had read all of his books. Wish I could start over!

I have every Clive Cussler Book Out In Hard Cover because he is one of 2 Authors I read. Clive Cussler and James Rollins write stories that keep you on the edge of your seat from 1st page to last.. This Was a Soft Cover That Was Put out In England & The American Title Is Mediterranean Caper

I felt like yelling Mayday! throughout the entire book, one of the best page-turners I have read in years. It is so different from any aircraft thriller I have ever read, trough to the very last page. Will be reading more by this author right away.

Could have done with less explicit details, but I'm sure some readers don't mind that. But the book holds you in its grip for the entire ride ... No pun intended. The authors move from one situation to another with such expertise and drama that makes it hard to put down.

This book was very well written and kept my interest all the way thru. Even tho
it had a lot of info about the plane and how it works which I'm not that
interested in it still was a very good read. I stayed up many nights just to see
what was happening on the next page!
Looking forward to more!

Among its other attributes, the book showcases the authors' strong knowledge of aeronautics & piloting airplanes. It also highlights the deplorable cynicism and dishonesty that can be found in airline & insurance company management just as it's found in the highest echelons of politics & financial services.

A fast paced story with numerous characters who decide to place personal goals and survival ahead of others lives! As a former Air Force pilot, I particularly enjoyed the story revolving around flying. I found it fairly realistic except I doubt the actual ability of a small plane private pilot to be able to handle a massive jet, even one in perfect condition! I have read all of DeMille's books and am always pleased when he has a new book being released!

As a former Navy fighter pilot (F-4J) and retired DAL pilot, I thoroughly enjoyed MAYDAY. Over the years I have read most all of Nelson DeMille's works. I found Thomas Block's professional pilot input to be spot on. I look forward to their next collaborative effort.

(SPOILER)
Ok, so they weren't quite zombies, but when the cabin decompresses at the edge of space and oxygen is lost, all but a handful of passengers are left mentally retarded due to prolonged oxygen deprivation. And rather than just being brain damaged lumps, or nearly catatonic, they become aggressive zombies who have both a general malice toward the remaining, non-retarded, survivors, and an inexplicable interest in what goes on in the cockpit as the heroes try to land the plane.
I rolled my eyes so much during this book that I could barely read it!

I purchased this book intended for leisure reading on a vacation from Washington DC to Hawaii involving air transportation. Imagine my surprise when the preface to the book advised if I was flying to put this book down and read something else. Upon return from vacation I started reading the book and understand the significance of the warning. It is an interesting story and has turned out to be a real page turner

Very exciting from first page to the last. Characters were well developed from the civilian pilot to the villanous airline executive s to the insurance people. Should be made into a great disaster movie. Hard to put down.
