This book is a great introduction to the inductive method that Kay Arthur and Precept Ministries use. You learn all the steps as you go day by day through different scriptures. This book would be a great 4 or 6 week class to do before offering newer students a Precept Upon Precept class. It will introduce them to all areas of the method, while taking them through different parts of the Bible and helping them understand how to apply it throughout scripture. Great work once again from Kay Arthur!!

This book helped me go from intimidated to equipped for my journey into inductive bible study. It is, in my opinion, for the true beginner, not necessarily for someone who has a decent understanding of the method of inductive study. Wonderful book to ignite the passion for the word!

Kay Arthur writes like she speaks: compassionately. She is a great teacher for any Christian--new or experienced--that wants to delve deeper with the Lord. I would also recommend her fabulous book about the Lord's Prayer: you will never pray it absent mindedly again!

This is an excellent book for those who struggle with an effective, vibrant prayer life as well as for anyone who longs to pray more and know that God hears their prayers. Doing this 4 week study will re-energize your prayer life.

I think all the colored words, symbols, etc. is ridiculous! All it seems to do is confuse the issue in my Bible Study class because everyone is so busy trying to remember what the colors & symbols represent. I know Kay Arthur didn't originate this technique and it's been around for a while but it truly isn't for everyone myself included.

As a young Christian, there is usually the feeling that ones' praying could be deeper, spontaneous yes but also "feel" more meaningful. This books breaks down the process in bite size instructions with relevant scriptures and insights. Very helpful. you will always go back to it as you build your prayer life.

Kay Arthur is an outstanding writer and a wonderful Christian sister! That said, this version of her book with the suggestions to underline here and there in this color and that color is very distracting.

With so many books on prayer, I love the simplicity of this teaching. Laying down a base for you to be able to use in all circumstances and touching the hem of His garment for all your needs... I was lost in the looking for just the right book... cause so many of the "how to pray" books seem to be "how do I get my way with God" books... This is refreshing. I am using this book to teach my grandchildren how to pray.

I appreciate being given guidelines, an outline, indexes on how to pray, what I ought to be thinking about and allowing God to speak to me through prayers. I loved the insight & illumination I obtained in reading this book. Page 47 Names of God is now memorized along with Mat 6:9-13! This is good for everyone that wants to strengthen their walk with Jesus. Jesus prayed all the time for all things. Go & do likewise!

This short Bible study delivers exactly what it offers, applicable teaching on prayer. It's an excellent study for anyone, but if you have teenagers, get them into this foundational material. Focused on the Lord's Prayer (or as some call it, the Disciple's Prayer), Kay teaches on glorifying God, confessing our sins, and submitting to His will through our daily prayers. She uses Scripture almost exclusively to direct your thoughts through the study--that's the inductive method. One of the best!

Hmmm...Perhaps I was hoping for a more complete instruction guide on prayer, or maybe discussion on all the scriptural aspects of prayer. I love Kay, and this is a good book, but for me--it's a bit narrow in scope.

She takes the Lord's Prayer (so-called--John 17 is the real Lord's Prayer!), and dissects it nicely. But that prayer is too brief to cover every aspect of the subject.

I found "God, Help Me Pray!" (hard to locate) to be much more thorough and even a quicker read. This author does not 'hold your hand' like Kay does though.

Depending on what you're looking for, Kay's book, or the other one, will teach you about praying. I wanted a more complete discussion of every aspect of prayer and did not really need the hand-holding, so I prefer "God, Help Me Pray!", but both should be at the top of your short list.

This is a good book for new christians or someone looking for some direction in their prayer life. Arthur goes through the Lord's prayer and interprets its principles. She does a great job of interpreting through scripture and meditation. The book is best suited for a bible study group. It is very interactive and makes you think. A good, solid book on prayer.

Our women's bible study at church selected this book, and we are doing it 2 lessons per week for 14 weeks. If you want to learn how to read the bible and make it personal, this is the book to use. What a joy and blessing to read and understand God's Word! It is especially good for new Christians who may be intimidated by the Bible. I highly recommend this book.

I tried the recommendations in this book, especially the Lord's prayer, and especially some of the other things too. I prayed until I was blue in the face; nothing worked. Everything is still the same. Now I think praying doesn't work. None of the things I prayed for happened. In fact it got worse. My dog died. And my cat threw up on the carpet. Life's been terrible I have such a headache. I pray for relief of the pain but nothing happened. This book is worthless. this book made my life worse. This book is cursed.
