I enjoyed this book throughout. As usual good character development and good plot development. The protagonists, Reverend Ferguson and officer Russ make a good and interesting pair of sleuths. I look forward to my next book in this series.

This book was a total pleasure to read. Mystery is interesting but not too gory. Characters are fascinating. Setting in Adirondacks is like another character, it adds a lot. The romantic tension between two main characters is delicious. I highly recommend it to people who like mystery and romance.

As a clergywoman and mystery fan I was excited to begin reading this book, but I was very disappointed. Mosy problematic for me is that I know personal and professional boundaries are critical to the profession, but Episcopal priest Clare Fergusson lacked both. This made her character unrealistic and off-putting. I was also able to figure out the murderer pretty quickly. Not a bad read, but I won't be reading any more in this series.

I loved the book and the characters. The author has done a great job of character development and interesting story line. After reading this book I had to read the rest of the series and I can't wait for the next one to come out. It's one of my favorites and I recommend it to all my reader friends.

I am thoroughly delighted with reading In The Bleak Midwinter on my Kindle. Julia Spenceer Fleming is a new author to me and based on this book, I have purchased two more and am looking forward to reading them also.

I found Reverend Clare totally annoying. She had no business playing (fairly stupid) cop; the supposed sexual tension was way out of line. Single young female priest do not hang around endlessly alone with a married man. The amount of dinners and rides she had with the lonesome police chief would have her booted out of a small town parish in a flash. Couldn't they just have a platonic friendship? Her constant meddling in the murder case was laughable, her near demise, ridiculous. The writing style was okay but it wasn't enough to make me like this book. A very medium effort.

Astonishing character development. There is a tendency in the field of mysteries for authors to write books peopled by characters you simply cannot like (for example: any of MC Beaton's books.) Spencer-Fleming has created a very richly populated, fully realized small town. Onto this canvas she paints all the colors of the human experience, physical, emotional and spiritual.

The books take us on both a wild rollercoaster ride of adventure, and an inner, spiritual journey as well. We laugh and cry alongside the characters as they stumble and soar. The books in this series are hard to put down. You'll be sleep deprived, but fully satisfied by the time you finish!

Profound thanks to the author for these deeply moving novels.

I loved this book! Julia Spencer-Fleming was very innovative with the characters. It is not the typical murder mystery. I found myself laughing out loud! I've read other of her books that follow in the series, I really enjoy watching the characters grow.

drama setting& characters are well placed and story developed interestingly, just describing the situation was too long and flat taking out of crimax. like ending, should be short and give reader wanting more. Othewise I enjoyed the book very much.
