I've collected all 10 of the Robert Parker Jesse Stone books. They are all great. I can just picture Tom Selleck talking because of the TV shows of the same name, even though they are not taken from the book titles. A really great read. I like continuing with a lot of the same characters in book series, it feels like the books is not ending.

I truly enjoyed seeing Tom Selleck and other members of the cast for the movie come alive as I read the original version that Robert Parker wrote. I loved the fact the movie left out the curse words, but the few that were there I have learned to skim over. A page turning novel...check it out.

Wonderful, well written, modern detective novel that honors the classics. Hard boiled, clever, and dark like Dasheill Hammet...and although the film series is played by an older actor than the books, he nails it. Robert Parker felt this way and said that Tom Selleck was the closest to an accurate portrayal of one of his characters he'd seen. I just gave this book and the accompanying movie to my father in-law. Success. And I am working my way through the series as well.

Story of crime and passion which was worth the few hours it took to read. I am not sure how it came to be that I got it from the store. If the reader likes cop stories then this should meet the need. Not much in the way of surprises.

I got interested in Jesse Stone after watching several of the movies starring Tom Selleck. So, I decided to turn to the books and see if they were as good as the movies. And I am glad I did, as this book was fantastic. I downloaded it to my Kindle and started reading as I flew from Virginia to Michigan. I could not put it down and couldn't wait to get checked in at the hotel. I finished the book in one day.
The story is solid and great reading from start to finish. It explains more about Stone getting fired in California and how he becomes the Chief in Paradise. It takes him through a series of crimes, where he knows who committed them, but he lacks the evidence to bring charges against anyone. Slowly, he untangles the cases and finds the evidence he needs to solve the crime. The books also shows how bad his love life really is and how confused he is as a result of his divorce. He just doesn't know how to walk away and start over, which is one of the interesting points of the book.
The book was exciting and a great read, from start to finish. It was interesting throughout the story and it kept my attention the entire time. I am now downloading the second book in the series and hope it is just as interesting.

Have read all but two of the books, getting ready to move on to the Longmire series next. Had fun with Stone, might try Spenser novels later in the year. Some of the older Stone books should be carrying a better Kindle price tag by now.

I have loved the Jesse Stone movies and decided to read the books. This is the first one I have read. Tom Selleck plays Jesse Stone in the movies, and I can visualize him in the pages of this book. I plan to read more of this series.

I saw the video series first & read this book later. Very well written & a good read, however I like the changes that were made in the Tom Selleck videos more. Watch the series if at all possible; they are excellent to me.

The late Robert Parker has introduced us to a new and very likeable character in Jesse Stone. Due to a divorce and a serious drinking problem in Los Angeles, he's been fired from the LAPD. Driving to Massachussetts, after being hired, he arrives in a quaint, small New England town named Paradise. He's been hired as police chief. Little does he realize why he's been hired and what's about to happen in this small, sleepy harbor town.
Jesse's a thinker and says very little past one word answers. He still struggles with his personal problems of divorce and love of scotch; all the while attempting to solve a rash of crime happening one after another.
Mr. Parker has done well with his new character. He's interesting and very real. He's human. The author, as usual, does not waste time on fluff and repetitive dialogue. He keeps on point and the book keeps moving along well.
One can well invite Jesse into their reading world. He's an excellent character.
As time passes, Jesse Stone has been made into TV movies. The lead, Tom Selleck, is perfect as Jesse Stone.

Awesome mystery! Love to read books that are based in the Boston area. Jesse Stone is a character that you are bound to like, so strong and calculating, so reasonable, and unjudemental. But when it comes to breaking a case, he's your man. I recommend this book to any good mystery lovers.tery
