This novella follow up after Forever My Girl, kind of fell flat for me. It was interesting to see what happened to Nick, but I just wasn't pulled into this short story as much as I'd like to have been. However...I think it's a "fill in" for the next book in the Beaumont series, which I am anxiously waiting for.

"My Everything" by Heidi McLaughlin

For anyone who knows me, you know that I'm a huge Heidi McLaughlin fan. You'll also know that I loved the first book in the Beaumont series. I love each character in their own way. "My Everything" is a novella in the "Beaumont series, that I would recomend to read after book one, "Forever My Girl."

If you haven't read book one, I suggest you read it first before this one, because you don't want to ruin too many surprises. You would know how the book ended. You wouldn't get the full effect of the first story. At least for me, I know I like to be one hundred percent surprised while reading. I don't want to know ahead of time who ended up with who, or what happened with something. I want to find out answers when the author intended the reader to find out. If you haven't read book one, I wouldn't even suggest reading this review. I'm not going to write any spoilers, but you might read one sentence and then it could blow the surprise for some issue in the first book.

This book follows Nick. Nick was Josie's boyfriend turned fiance in book one. He ended up leaving his home to go to Africa to volunteer as a doctor there. He couldn't stay in Beaumont and feel like he was constantly competing with Liam for Josie. While there, he met a beautiful woman who worked at the same clinic as him. You'll read the story and find out how their relationship went. What I just said wasn't a spoiler either, you can find that in the synopsis!

In book one, Nick wasn't the main character, and we readers thought of him as the `other man.' Everyone (or at least me) was routing for Josie and Liam to be together...not Josie and Nick. It was nice to get Nick's view on the situation from book one, since we didn't get his side of the story then. In this novella, we readers (or at least me, again) are routing for Nick. I wanted his love to succeed with the nurse he worked with. I thought they were perfect for each other.

I would recommend "My Everything" by Heidi McLaughlin to people who read book one in the Beaumont series ("Forever My Girl"). Also, if you like romance and the new adult genre, then you'll enjoy this read.

Like I said before, I'll definitely continue following this authors work and I would recommend for you to do the same.

Recommended! 5 stars!

Happy Reading!

I absolutely loved Forever My Girl. That book was everything I look for in a Contemporary Romance. But, in that book I was so focused on Liam and Josie finding their happy ending, that I kind of overlooked Nick. In fact, he kind of made me mad and I didn't really see his side of the story until this novella. I did read his letter to Josie right after he left for Africa, but this novella really made me like Nick.

When Nick got to Africa, he was still hurting over his break-up with Josie. They had been together for so many years and were raising a child together. So, Nick also left behind Noah. Nick was essentially a father to Noah for most of his young life. In the time Nick was in Africa, he felt so much guilt about leaving Noah the way he did. Now that he's had time to heal from his relationship with Josie, he's open to finding love again and he would like to find a way to make amends with Noah.

I was really happy to see Nick begin to see his relationship with Josie in a new light. I do believe that they loved each other, but it just wasn't meant to be. So, seeing him in Africa and watching him come to these realizations was really great. I also loved Aubrey. She was so sweet and understanding of Nick's situation. Aubrey was so patient with Nick too. She believed that they were meant to be and she wasn't willing to give that up. I loved how she handled meeting Josie and Liam too. She was so gracious. Aubrey truly was a great support for Nick and it made me happy that she was excited to be a part of Noah's life too.

Overall, I really loved this novella. It was short, but covered so much. I felt like it presented Nick in a more positive light and I was thrilled to see that he will continue to be a part of Noah's life. We do get to see Josie and Liam in this novella and of course that made me happy. I really missed them and it's made me even more anxious for My Unexpected Forever! If you were a fan of Forever My Girl or if you like NA Contemporary Romances, you must read this series! It's definitely a favorite of mine.

MY EVERYTHING fills readers in on Nick's life after FOREVER MY GIRL. If you've read FOREVER MY GIRL, then you know that we were left with a lot of questions on what happens to Nick. If you haven't read FOREVER MY GIRL, I recommend you do before reading MY EVERYTHING. LOL!

I am so happy that Nick got his happy ending. I was a little worried how the author would play out his story, but I have to say I was really happy with the way things turned out.

For such a short Novella Heidi McLaughlin covers everything and gives you a sweet romance in the mist of it all. MY EVERYTHING was a bit emotional and I felt so bad for Nick in the beginning. He was really struggling with what to do and what was right for him and his heart. Heidi has such a way with words. She can turn something so bad into something so mushy and fluffy. This book is definitely fluffy, but for a novella, I wouldn't have liked it any other way.

My only complaint is that, although Nick and Aubrey's romance was sweet and very romantic, I would have liked a little more of them. I felt like it just needed a little more development for me to really fall in love with them. That is the only issue I have.

Aside from that this is definitely a great fill in while we wait for the second book in Heidi McLaughlin's BEAUMONT series. Reading MY EVERYTHING sucked me right back into FOREVER MY GIRL and I remembered how much I loved the characters. And also how sexy Liam is! LOL!

I really can't wait to read MY UNEXPECTED FOREVER. This series is adult contemporary romance, but has a New Adult feel to it. A definite Good Choice for Reading. :)

I am a massive Heidi McLaughlin fangirl and I was so excited when I found out that she released a novella for Nick's story after Forever My Girl. As this is a novella, I can guarantee that it will take hardly any time for you to read and you definitely need to read it before My Unexpected Forever to fill in a few little gaps.

Nick is in Africa after leaving Josie and Noah back in Beaumont when Liam shakes up their lives on his return into town. He signed on for 12 months as a medical doctor in an African village and knew that he would always end up their alone with a broken heart. What he doesn't anticipate is the arrival of Aubrey into his life.

I absolutely adore Aubrey, to the point where I pretty much fan-girled through the whole book because they are perfect together. As far as relationships go, they know what they have between each other instantly and it is extremely faced paced and unconventional with Aubrey being the one to propose.

They return to Beaumont together as a married couple and I cried like a baby when Nick is reunited with Noah after begging Josie and Liam to allow him to still be apart of his life. I admit I am the biggest emotional sook.. don't judge me! :'(

Everyone loves a cute love story with a happy ending. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did!

My Everything is a novella to be read after Forever My Girl by author Heidi McLaughlin. My Everything will give you a look into what happens with Nick after Forever My Girl, but it also gives some detail and insight to Nick's relationship with Josie that we see part of in Forever My Girl. This book is about a second chance and Nick's chance second chance at love. He was heartbroken man when he walked out of the lives of Josie and Noah and now we find him in Africa working with children in a hospital, where fellow volunteer Aubrey.

Author McLauglin's writing is great! She weaves past and present together quite well with fantastic story telling. In this book, the author further develops the character of Nick and really changed my opinion of him. In Forever My Girl, I didn't like him, didn't care about him, but in My Everything I actually felt a little emotion for him and wanted to see him have a `happy ever after'. I appreciate that Heidi was able to tell Nick's story and gets us in his thoughts and allows us to see if he has a chance to redeem himself after everything that happened in the previous story. Nick played a huge role in the life of Noah and although he did not behave the best and make the best decisions he does have an opportunity to "man up" and make a difference. The only fault that I found with My Everything is that I didn't get any connection with Aubrey. She was likeable, but she didn't do anything for me.

Read Forever My Girl and then give this a try! 3.5~Stars

I JUST FINISHED FOREVER MY GIRL AND FINISHED MY REVIEW- AND WAS JUST SAYING THAT I FELT SOOOO BAD FOR NICK. THAT I TRULY LIKED HIM. SO WHEN I SAW THIS NOVELLA WAS ABOUT HIM- I WAS EXCITED BECAUSE SERIOUSLY WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO HIM?

THIS NOVELLA IS NICK’S STORY- NICK LEAVES BEAUMONT AND GOES TO AFRICA FOR A YEAR AND WHILE HE WAS THERE HE MEETS AUDREY. THE BOOK TAKES YOU BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN PRESENT AND PAST OF HIS TIME WITH JOSIE AND HIS NEW TIME WITH AUDREY.

WHEN NICK COMES BACKS HOME FROM AFRICA WITH A WIFE ON HIS ARM- HE DESPERATELY WANTED TO CONTINUE HIS FATHER BOND WITH NOAH.

THIS SHORT NOVELLA WAS WONDERFUL- YOU GOT EXPERIENCE WHAT HAPPENED WITH NICK ASHFORD, HOW HE FELT. THERE WAS A LOT OF INFO PACKED IN THIS LITTLE NOVELLA AND WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THE OUTCOME.

THIS AUDIOBOOK HAD A DIFFERENT NARRATOR THAN FOREVER MY GIRL, WHICH I LOVE CONSIDERING MOST SEQUELS HAVE THE SAME NARRATOR FOR ALL CHARACTERS. NARRATED BY JEFFREY KAFER AND THE AUDIO IS JUST AS SHORT AT ABOUT 1 HOUR 51 MINUTES

The Deal: After breaking up with his fiancée, Nick Ashford decided to go forth with his plans to volunteer for a year in Africa, using his knowledge as a doctor to help others while he tries to figure out what went wrong with his life.

He wasn't expecting meeting Aubrey after a few months, or feeling the connection he feels toward her.

My Thoughts: So, again, I'm keeping it vague both because of stuff that happened in the previous book and ties in with this one and because this one is fairly short and I don't want to just say whats all about.

Right after I finished reading Forever My Girl, I didn't want to leave it's world just then so I went on and read My Everything after and it was nice. I liked how it took the time to address something that happened in FMG and that was sort of left hanging in the previous book.

As for the story of Nick and Aubrey, well, it was in fast forward because of how short is the story, but it was okay, I could believe it for the most part and I hope it develops a little more over the course of future books.

My Everything was a fun, super fast read and a nice complement to Forever My Girl.

Pretty good short story. I knew what happened to Nick (because I read the next book already), but it was nice having his point-of-view. I did feel like he moved on a little fast before reading this. I think it gets explained in more detail with this so that was good.

When Dr. Nick Ashford headed to Africa to volunteer for a year, he never considered the consequences of walking out on his family. After Liam returned and it became clear that he was losing Josie a little more each day, he couldn't stick around to see her walk away. But he regretted leaving Noah every day he was gone. That was his boy. His son. And if Noah would let him, Nick would spend forever making it up to him for walking away. While in Africa he meets pretty volunteer Aubrey and learns what true love is. Returning to Beaumont with his new bride and healed heart completes his journey into what a happy life can be. Nick's happily-ever-after is sweet, tender and the moments with Noah are the best. :)

My Everything was a short and sweet novella that to me, brought Forever My Girl, full circle. Despite my happiness for Josie and Liam at the end of FMG, I always felt bad for Nick Ashford. He was never a villain, he just wasn't the one for Josie. The way he hastily left Beaumont at the end of FMG definitely left me wondering about the rest of his story and the impact of his abandonment on Josie's son, Noah. Luckily, Mrs. McLaughlin produced this wonderful novella, and gave me the opportunity to get some closure on that part of the story.

"I have so much to thank Africa for, mostly my wife, but also giving me the time to heal without seeing the life I had walking around with someone else."

In general, this book does involve falling in love, but it is not a love story. It is about a broken man, looking for an escape through volunteering as a doctor for one year in Africa. I thought that the book had just enough detail, but I also think that if Heidi McLaughlin wanted to, she absolutely could have turned this into a full length novel. One aspect of the story that I really liked was the contrast between the matured Nick Ashford working in Africa in the present, and the needy, love-starved for Josie's affections flashback, Beaumont Nick. I adore stories that involve personal growth, and I was very pleased to see Nick's transition in this book.

"We were destined to meet, Nick. I have no doubt in my mind that you were meant for me."

Something that was made clear time and time again about Nick is that he is a complete and total family man. He wants the wife, the house, and the family life and will settle for nothing less. I was so happy to be introduced to Aubrey because she was his absolute match and fulfilled him in a way that Josie never could. She was just a sweet, fun-loving, and true character that really seemed to bring out the best in Nick and I loved their interactions.

This isn't an angst-filled or overly dramatic read. In a nutshell it is a story about closure, healing, and making amends for past mistakes. I thought that the author did a great job tying up any loose ends that were left in Nick's story from her last book and I was definitely satisfied with the ending. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to read this one and I would absolutely recommend this humbling and easy read to people who loved Forever My Girl.
