Well written follow up to The Measure of Magic but too predictable. Can't be long now before we get to a place in "History" where the link to Shanhara can be easily seen. All Terry Brooks books are very enjoyable and this doesn't let him down.

As usual Terry has produced yet another timeless adventure that will last the test of time. His faithful readers are not disappointed in this latest continuation of the saga that has become the world of Shannara and how it came into being.

As usual, Terry Brooks has written another wonderful story. I cannot wait for the next part of this section of the Shannara legend to come out. Thank you Mr. Brooks, for the last 30ish years of my reading pleasure.

Terry Brooks is the master! I have read and love all of his books. Bearers of the Black Staff and Measure of the Magic are no exception. I own a First Edition Sword of Shannara with the double page color picture in the middle.

Where to start?
I started reading "Shannara", along with Eddings "The Begaliard", following the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy
Of course this was all before most of you were born and ultimately seduced by the crapola world of video gaming.
That editorial comment aside, "Genesis of Shannara" was a great trilogy, rivaling the original "Shannara" series and exceeding the subsequent copies.
This first of a post-"Genesis" duology is a great read & I have no understanding of why & how a reader can give it a negative review.
Must be a generational thingy!

I started reading Terry Brooks with the first edition of the Sword of Shannara. I have read all that fell into my hands from him. This new novel did not disappointed me. On the contrary, strengthened my commitment to keep reading his new novels.

In my opinion the Shannara series has really fallen off (with the exception of the Genesis Series). Brooks earlier work was fantastic, those first 8 books of the series are a must read for any fantasy fan. This not so much. I realize he is basically starting the world he created over, but it just isn't up to par with the earlier books.

Terry Brooks writes another fine story in Bearers of the Black Staff. The characters and plot lines are just what you would expect in this well written book. I would recommend it for all fans of Terry Brooks.
