I found this book extremely helpful with my writing, as well as Linda Seger's other books. Her suggestions and ideas hit home again and again and my writing improved because of it. Since reading Linda Seger's books, I have had several scripts optioned, for both movies and television.

Structure, character, dialogue, theme? "Making A Good Script Great" has got it all. And makes it all clear, accessable, and workable. The best book ever on screenwriting and rewriting. As a teacher and scriptconsultant, as well as a writer, I use this book constantly and am constantly greatful for its existence. I recommend it to my students and to everyone I know who writes. Thank you, Linda, for helping me and those I work with to make our "good scripts great!"

Understanding whats needs to be squeezed into the white space; the look, raw emotion, sarcastic empathy, a withdrawn gesture. These elements and so many more are the symphony of film; harnessing the bubbling essence at the heart of the telling starts with learning and polishing the craft with yards based insights.

Making a Good Script Great is chock full of useful "how to" information only if you get down to the job at hand--re-writing that screenplay! This book, one of several on my shelf, gets referred to weekly! I enjoy the author's "intellectual" approach which is tempered with practical "how to sell" information. I highly recommend it to new and veteran writers alike.

As a beginning screenwriting student I picked up this book expecting to find, not a miracle, but some good tips. Instead I found the content to be so elementary that even I, a beginning student, am way, way beyond everything the book presents. I also thought the contents were "preachy" and detracted from the overall presentation of the material. To me, at least, this is an old fashioned book and really won't help anyone in the highly competitive market of today's modern screenplays. END

I'm not a natural at screenwriting, and frequently found myself burning the proverbial midnight oil when writing my first script. Fortunately, this and other references were available to me. I am not one who follows written direction very well, but this was a special part of my development as a writer.

Look, if you want to write a screenplay, buy this book. Learn your craft before you do anything else. I read about 6 books before I got to this one. I felt like jumping up and down, because it was the first one that told me HOW it's done. Thank you, Linda! END END

I found this book as a visiting student to Wisconsin last year. I am attempting to create my own amateur scripts here in Japan, and find this as a most useful resource to my work. Thank you Linda Seeger for publishing useful resources that are accessible to novel screenwriter.

Making a Good Script Great has been a very important book for me since I began my career. It's clear and easy to use, and has improved every script that I've written. If you're writing screenplays, I believe it is the most important reference book to have on your shelf.

I sponsor an annual screenplay writing competition and read several hundred scripts a year - I recommend this book to everyone who enters. My copy is dog-eared, highlighted, and yellow-tabby flagged. There are few equals or superior alternatives.

I collect screenwriting guides. I was glad to find this one. I draw from the good advice that this and the many other screenwriting guides that sit upon my shelf alongside this to help improve my craft. Though this is not THE authority, it is very well written.

This is truly a valuable book for the budding aspiring screenwriter. I bought it sometime ago to abet my career when I was beginning. Even with experience, I still resort to this one for its timeless advice. I appreciate Linda Seger's simple yet succint style.

Enjoyable read. I'm a part-time script writer, have taken many classes and have written a number of scripts, some prize-winning. I've picked up quite a few ideas from this book.
I also recommend taking script writing classes I took one with Lew Hunter and learned more in a few hours than ever before. This book was purchased based upon his recommendation.
Highly recommended!
