I thought the author outlined very eloquently the challenges for transitioning into a new leadership position. There were great examples to highlight the points being articulated. It is an easy fast read for busy people like myself. I appreciate that charts and forms were included. It would be helpful if those forms were available for printing or downloading. It would also be helpful if the examples were from education or government, as many readers may not be in corporations.

This was a simple, practical reminder of approaching a new role with useful planning to support a seamless transition. It also had great insight on staging work and ensuring you avoid common traps in transition.

I have just attained a high level executive position, and considered it essential that I read this book before I begin my new job. I found the book through my own research. This book should be required reading for anyone in a management role that is currently or has the potential to transition into a new role. I wish I would have read this book much earlier in my career!

The book is well organized and has some general ideas that are worthwhile, but also have been expressed in most other books of this genre. The generalities are not developed enough to help the reader really lay out a plan for the first 90 days. Each chapter begins with a brief anecdote of someone who either succeeded or failed in a new role. I found myself wishing the author had spent more time on these examples, rather than simply using a couple of paragraphs as an introduction to the chapter.

I recommend "You're in Charge: Now What" over this book.

This book offers strong substance and structure when it comes to taking on a new role. It provides specific direction and suggestions on how to attack setting up a learning plan, establishing relationships with your boss and other key players, as well as the importance of observing the new culture. I have more confidence going to a new company after 12 years with my current company because I have a definitive plan for how to attack the most important time during a new transition.

I only have 8 years of professional experience in the same company but in two countries in four different positions. I read this book when I accepted the first position with people in charge and it was really useful.

In some cases the information was too high-level (felt like someone sitting in a chair, gazing up to the ceiling, saying "we need some synergy around here"), but overall the concepts communicated are very good and it's up to the reader to implement them appropriately. Probably not worth reading if you're not planning on transitioning jobs to a management role of some kind.

The book covers nearly all elements of career transition for mid-level to C-level managers. It really gives you the subtle details and action plans how to tackle this transition from politics to soft-skill management tips with tools and frameworks. It has so much invaluable information that i need to read it again.
