Although these two "textbooks" are pretty short, they are hilariously funny and very briliant. Ms. Rowling has proved again that she is one of the best writters of our time.
While most of us are awaiting the 5th book of the Harry Potter series with a growing passion, Rowling keeps the world interested in the world of Wizards, Witchery and young Harry by writting these two short, but sweet books that provide a glipse into the world of Harry Potter. They let us see into the imagination of J.K. Rowling but leave us enough room to fill in the blanks she provides with our own opinions, images and thoughts.
I highly recomend this book to anyone who has read and enjoyed the Harry Potter books. Not only are they a great read but they provide money to millions of children and other charities around the world.

While Quidditch through the ages is a good book and captures the magic of the sport known as Quidditch, there are mistakes in Fantastic Beasts and where to find them. JK Rowling, when writing the book, left out Blast-Ended Skrewts, House Elves, Banshees, Boggarts, Dementors, Vampires, Hags, Poltergeists, and Ghosts, to name a few. I think the overall experience of reading the book was cheapened by this. I would have given this book bundle a 4.5, but I had to pick between four or five.

This is a great "While you wait for book 6" collection. It has the spirit of the Harry Potter books.
The writing is as good as the harry potter books. but the content is not.
For breaif looks into the history of the Harry Potter boos they are great. Particularly for the history of monsters. Hoever id you are looking for a solid READ this is not the book collection for you.

I am a fifth grade teacher at a Muggle school and a HUGE Harry Potter fan. I, like my students, can not get enough of the magical world that J.K. Rowling has created. These books are filled with background information on magical beast and Quidditch. The books are very funny, especially Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them. It is a copy of Harry's school book, with all of his, Ron's and Hermione's personal comments written in the margins. I gave the books 4 stars because I felt that they were a little plain. I had hoped for books with colorful illustrations to go with the fantastic beast, but there are few drawing and none are colored.

Harry Potter is a very popular series, and for any fan of the series, this is a must have. It will give you more information about the world of "Hogwarts" and you will feel good about yourself since it's also for a good cause, i only hope J.K. Rowling will write more of these. Books, Movies, and these schoolbooks i consider the official harry potter merchandise, and then Harry Potter themed candy, figures and such is nice also. I have both of these books, and i read them all the time. It's a good price too. I hope you purchase them, have fun reading!

I got these when I was little and they were okay. My youngest brother just turned 10 thoughh and he LOVES them. He still hasn't read any of the novel, so these were a little easier on such a young reader. He fell in love with Harry Potter by watching the movies (we've seen each about 100 times). He loved learning about the beasts and more about quidditch. These are great for younger Potter fans.

Whatever I am going to say, has already been written by another reviewer:
1- These two books are highly entertaining, as well as short! I finished Magical Beasts and Where to Find Them in 45 minutes! And I'm no fast reader. I wish the author had made a larger version. If that is what Hogwarths students have for a book, I think I'd pass the subject in a flash.
2- Although inventive in the side notes, I was almost dissapointed from the fact that Dumbledores's forward writing specifies that either "these beasts are imaginary and won't hurt you", or something like "this sport (Quidditch) doesn't exist at all". I know: this two phrases work as a warning for people who take things too far, but it does take a little bit of the magic from them.
3- When the headmaster is, at the beggining of the book, saying that Potter himself let his book to be copied... It is a funny thing to read, but, aren't wizards supposed to be hiding from the Muggle eye? I don't know about you, but printing a book with a huge insight into wizarding world wouldn't be the best way to keep a low profile. Get what I mean?
4- For the context of Magical Beasts... Well, it does'nt have vampires, giants, ogres or boggarts. What happened? I understand that poltergeists, ghouls, and ghosts would fall into the Spirit-division. And elves, banshees, dementors would sort of be, in the Being-division. But, what about the first 4? And, are they all? Just 75 species of magical beasts? Come'on!
By the way: Blast ended skrewts are a hybrid that the Magic Ministry didn't know of... so it can't really be calssified in an "official" book.
Pretty well, and although I know some more things will come to mind a bit later, I did liked this books. I do recommend them. And they are very well appreciated.
Thanks to the author.

I, like most of the world, love anything Harry Potter. I couldn't believe it when I saw these books. I started reading the introduction, and the second I got up to the part about the thief's curse, I picked up both, and bought them immediately, reading both in one night. Miss Rowling has delivered a VERY nice addition to the Harry Potter world: His books! How many authors can write a book, and then procede to write and publish two books that are mentioned inside that book? Plus, all the proceeds go to children's charities, which is a nice touch. I especially loved all the doodles and additions in "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them". Plus Albus Dumbledoor's introductions are fantastic! I am highly pleased with them, and recomend them to anyone who has read Harry Potter. (They're cheap too!)

I've been a great fan of the Harry Potter books since the beginning. Waiting for a new book to come out was always very hard.
Now, thanks to Comic Relief, there are two new books, closely related to the Harry Potter series:
- Quidditch through the ages
- Fantastic Beasts & Where to find them
From the beginning it is clear that these two books are nice, but not essential. First of all, they try be be as "cutesy" as possible by using a lot of standard marketing tricks (give the cover a ragged look, label one of them with "Property of: Harry Potter". We've seen this kind of thing enough with a lot of tie-ins to popular series, so the magic of it has worn off.
I liked the Quidditch book best, because it has all the speed and creativity of the other Harry Potter books. The "Fantastic Beast" book is merely a long list of beasts and is, to be realy honest, quite dull to read. And I did not like the handwriting which sprawls over some pages (We all know what Hagrid does, J.K., so stop making irrelevant references to it...)
Let's say "Quidditch" deserves 4 stars because of the fact that the author went very far in explaining the evolution of that silly game (and yes, I like silly games), and the Fantastical beasts get 2 stars.
Because of the fact that it is for charity (reason enough to buy this book, you Muggle!) I raised the average 1 point.
Oh yeah, I need to mention that I got hold of these books on March 11th, which is very nice because:
- I bought this in Belgium and everyone told me that it would be available only from the 12th;
- inside "Quidditch" there is a list which indicates that Harry returned this book to the library on the 11th (isn't it nice to have a library where you can return books on a sunday?)
By all means, buy the book, enjoy it, and wait very patiently for Book 5 of the "real" Harry Potter series.

These books are a great addition to any Potter fan's library , as they explore Quidditch and some of the beasts encoutered in Harry's adventures. These books helped explain a lot about Harry Potter to me before i became a fan, and I would recommend them for anyone considering reading the Potter books, which are great by the way.

The HP Schoolbooks are a great addition to everyone's HP collection. These books help the reader to imagine what it would be like to attend Hogwarts with Harry Potter and his friends. The collection includes many great stories but also offers the reader some great facts. The world of Hogwarts and Harry Potter are investigated and delivered to all that read these books.

I admire J.K. Rowling's selflessness in donating all her royalties to a noble cause. And it's nice to get some more HP info after a long wait. Yet, perhaps she could have written something with more of a storyline? Short stories, perhaps....
Ah, well, I shouldn't nitpick. The books are humorous and informational. I'd rather have textbooks on Harry Potter than nothing at all. For all those itching to read ANYTHING Harry, these books will not disappoint.

I am a HUGE fan of Harry Potter and the Lemony Snicket books. Anyway...back to the point, When I bought these books, I was completly amazed. They were like text books, but interesting. The little side comments were so cute! And, they also gave out little tidbits of information. These Schoolbooks are so cool! My friends didn't really like HP, but I lent them these books, and now they are HP's "biggest fans" Anyway, In Quidditch Through The Ages, it tells about the history of Quidditch, the first bludgers, etc. In Magical Beasts and Where to Find Them, it tells all about --you guessed it!-- Magical Beasts and Where to Find Them! It is my favorite of the two. I hope you like it, too. *^_~*

I've enjoyed the Harry Potter series very much, and these two books were fun to read. It would be very nice if other books from Harry's world were made avaliable one day...... especially Hogwarts: A History. It was also nice to get a glimpse of Harry, Hermione, and Ron through the margin notes. I recommend both to any fan of the series!

"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" provides a bit of insight to some of the creatures in the Harry Potter universe. There are several mentioned that don't even appear in the series, or are only mentioned in passing. These references prove useful, but it provides few more details about the creatures given more than a passing reference in the series. The "hand-written" notes in the book provide a bit of comedy, but not really any useful information.

"Quidditch Through the Ages" provides some historical information that enhances a few references to Quidditch in the Harry Potter series, but unless you're quite interested in the mechanics of Quidditch, isn't really all that useful.

These supplements to the wonderful world of Harry Potter will not dissappoint, other than perhaps that they are TOO short. I know we all want to one day wake up to new novels in Hogwarts, but in the meantime, we'll take what we can get. These shorts are age appropriate, fun, and informative if you're curious to know more about Rowling's world. As they are also endorsed by Rowlings herself, highly recommended.

Rowling isn't the best writer ever. You won't look at a sentence and be stunned by its craft. However, she sells the quantity of books she does through her incredible imagination. While Fantastic Beasts goes over a lot of the same material from the regular HP books (And how could she have forgotten Dementors?), Qudditch lets her run wild. It's one of the best $... I have spent recently.

I bought these books as soon as they came out and red them within the hour. They're surprisingly short and they were easy to read. Both were cute books, but I would only sugest them to they die-hard potter fans. While they are cute to read, I don't think they would as appreciated by those who have only read one or two potter books, or by those who like the potter books but don't obsess over them. Anyway, I did find it enjoyable to read the comments made by Ron, Hermione, and Harry in 'Fantastical beasts and where to find them'-they added some flair to the book. On the whole, I would say read these books if you have nothing else to read. While they are decent, thery aren't spectacular. They cover particulars about the wizarding realm but the information isn't anything new.

although the quiditch book happens to be a little boring if your not older than the age recomendation the book is great! it gives you a good idea of the rules of quiditch and it gives info about how quiditch referes have dissapeared and such. the book about fantastical beasts is sort of like a joke book with ink writing in it it is VERY funny! i loved it it was the best out of the 2 books. i strongly recomend these books for people of all ages, not just those recomended.

These books are great. Especially for Harry Potter fans. They are copies of Harry's School books and offer a great insight into the magical world. They give details about many of the magical animals and about the wizarding sport, quidditch. Any Harry Potter fan REALLY needs to get these. They even have little notes taken by Harry and his friends like a real schoolbook would have. Like my title, this is REALLY a great idea. The only drawback is that you won't get any plot from these. They are like Harry Potter Encyclopedias, so you won't be left wanting more, like in the real Harry Potter books. Basically, i would say you should get this, if your a real Harry Potter fan.

In these books, we see Rowling's abilty in the craft of fiction writing. Beneath the fun exterior of these book lurks Rowling changing style, word choice, and tone to emulate a different writer. There were times when I actually thought she hadn't written them. In addition, Harry's and Ron's notes in Fanstastical Beast are another example of Rowling's abilty to create Three-Dimensional characters. These notes seem not just like the characters, but like really teenagers. If there was a negitive about the books, it is that they do read like textbooks.

These books were really a cute idea. J.K. Rowling is a very imaginative person. Any fan will be delighted by Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Quidditch Through the Ages. Fantastic Beasts has notes scribled throughout it by Harry Ron and Hermonie. Quidditch doesn't (it's a library book where Fantastic Beasts belongs to Harry.) And they are for a good cause. What more do you need to be told?

I bought the set from the store to complete my Potter Collection. I was very amused by the witty comments of the trio and the random notes scattered through the books. Living in England I've learned a great deal about the U.K. charity Comic Relief. For a small amount of money you're supporting a great cause. I particularly enjoy having a small bestiary (Fantastic Beasts and where to find them.) This small book will make more sense of the 3rd year Defense against the dark arts final or the various beasts involved in the Tri-wizard tournament in year 4. I totally recommend this set and have bought one for myself, my sister, and my grandmother.

A wonderful extra special touch to the Harry Potter series! When I was done with the 5th book, I got upset when I had to admit to myself "No more Harry Potter for a long time", but I was wrong. I enjoyed the fun and laughs of these books and I definitely recommend them!

I loved reading these two books because they were really short. I was able to read each of them in about an hour and I had so much more knowledge of some of the things going on at Hogwarts. JK Rowling is so inventive and these two books really show off some of her creativity. I love how she is so dedicated to Harry Potter and his surroundings. She makes everything seem so real. It was a fun read! Highly encourage you to buy it.

This book remined me of the movie Pleasentville. These people lived in a perfect world with no color. They had no say in what they did, who they married, or who there kids were. They had to tell about their day and their dreams at dinner! The star of the book gets this job as the Receiver of Memories. He has to receive all the memories from the person known as the Giver of Memories. He learns about color and freedom. Some memories he gets are good others are bad. He can't take the memories no more so he decieds he wants to leave. He tells the Giver he wants to leave and so the giver helps him. Before the Receiver leaves he taks a friend with him. If the Receiver and his makes it is for you to find out.

The world of Harry Potter is a mind picture...It causes a person
to use what is already in your head, but in different WAYS. Thats is what makes some books good and some books "GREAT". We can travel
there when we want and come back without The Media telling us what
to think...
Thankx Harry...! and KJ

I like to enjoy reading J.K. Rowling's book, so I bought all her books, I also bought this two book, whiches kind of good, not as good as Harry Potter's. YOu need to know that this two book has nothing to do with Harry Potter. It's mostly about the Beasts in the book Harry Potter and the Oudditch game rules of Qudditch. If those peoples who like to enjoy the senen of Qudditch or the beasts Hagrid always think they cute babies.... you got to buy it!

Any Harry Potter fan will love these books. They are a fun read, inexpensive, and the proceeds go to a great cause. Twenty percent of the retail sales price less taxes from the sale of Quidditch Through the Ages and Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them will go to support children's causes throughout the world through a special Harry's Books fund, helping one of Britian's most successful charities, Comic Relief. See the note from J.K.Rowling just inside the book. I didn't know about this until after I bought the set, but if I had been undecided about the purchase and known this, it would have convinced me to buy. Hope it does the same for you. You will enjoy!

these books give the reader a great extent to the world of harry potter, they show how well estabished is the work j k rowling has created. I've quite enjoyed reading these books because they are fun and that if you want to know all about quidditch and fantastic beasts, so let's say ther are the best source of informations (because granted by the very author's imagination)

what you have to be aknowledged is that the founds raised by the purchases of both books are given to a charity, so buying them has to be a good thing to do.

NB: excuse my english but i'm french and it was not very easy to write this review.

This set is adorable, and only for the big-time Harry Potter fan. It's kind of a novelty item, and it's full of little doodles in the margins from Harry and Ron. The writing is for a younger crowd, but hey- they're supposed to be school books! Very cute set, must have for the Harry Potter fan.

I was waiting very impatiently for my parcel to arrive, btu when it did, honestly, I was disappointed. The paperback quality wasnt THAT good, and even the page texture wasnt collectible. Anyway, when I scanned the book, it was ok. I was expecting more diagrams or pictures, but there were just a few. In fact, I was expecting some better pictures as they are school textbooks for wizards, but the pictures that are there in the book, look like they are drawn by Harry himself. In spite of my disappointments since I am such a huge Harry Potter fan, I found these 2 books fun to go through. I cant wait to have any other books that will publish and the Order of Phoenix is number 1 on my mind.

I have been a huge fan of the Harry Potter books from the time that Sorcerer's Stone was first released. I absolutely adore reading them. Although these are classified as schoolbooks, they are just as entertaining and are no exception to the rule. They are great companions to their predecessors - I thought it was so interesting to read about Scamander's "fantastic beasts" or "Quidditch through the Ages". I loved learning more and more about Harry's world through his "schoolbooks". Rowling has done an amazing job with these.

These are really cool. "Fantastic Beasts" was actually the better of the two, but "Quidditch" had its funny bits too. I noticed, though, that Ms. Rowling seemed to forget some Fantastic Beasts. They were still fun to read though.

These books are funny, I picked up Quidditch through the ages and started at the beginning, with Irma Prince's notice and I smiled. Then I read About Comic Relief and I cheered. Then I read Praise for Quidditch Through the Ages, and About the Author and I started giggling aloud. Then I read the forward by Professor Dumbledore and it started getting really embarassing (I was in a public place).
Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them was equally fun but I do wonder if Merpeople and Centaurs have their own systems of classification (and if so where do Muggles and Magical people fit in to them).

I really like these. They add a certain depth to the main four books, and also add a certain charm. J.K. Rowling has, as always, delivered two remarkable books to add to the enchantment of the Harry Potter world, and with that they make the chartacters seem more real.

It is an amusing set of books. If you have all seven books, you will also like this set. I didn't realize that Rowling had written this set around book five. The money from the sales goes to charity and the odd facts are interesting. She is creative in her description of the different beasts in the first book and the history of quidditch in the second book. The other games that predate quidditch are amusing.

These are the books that Harry used in school (As said on J. K. Rowling's world famous hits, Harry Potter).
->Quidditch through the ages: Quidditch is the wizard sport played on brooms, there are 4 balls: 1 Quaffle (to score goals), 2 bludgers (to hit players off their brooms), and, the most important, the Snitch (a gold winged ball that flies around the field; the game ends when it is catched); there are also 7 players: 2 batters (they hit the bludgers forward the opponent team), 3 chasers (They score th goals), 1 keeper (keeps the other team from scoring) and 1 chaser (Harry, who must catch the snitch). On page 181 of HP and the Sorcerer's Stone (Paperback Edition), Hermione lent to Harry the book "Quidditch through the ages", Harry learned with this book that there were 700 ways of committing a foul and that all of them had happened during a World Cup match in 1473; that seekers were usually the smallest and fastest players, and that most serius injuries semed to happen to them; that although people rarely died playing Quidditch, referees had been known to vanish and turn up months later in the Sahara Desert.
->Fantastic beasts & where to find them: This is an Encyclopaedia that J.K. Rowling mentoined on her chat with URK live (I think, I can't remember well), she said that she would make some while-to-wait books that were related to her books. What comes inside it is not a sure thing, but it includes all the beasts seen on HP books (kappas, werewolves, boggarts, phoenixes, etc) and new ones (Who knows what she'll come up with). But THERE IS a thing that I can assure you, these books must be worth the wait and they are coming soon. Remember, all the earnings will go to charity (Rowling mentioned that too). THIS IS A MUST-GET BOOK and I already reserved it.

I know Rowling wrote these for a good cause, and I admire her for that, but geez, these books are definitely nothing special.
I just found them tedious to read. I ended up skimming the Quidditch one, as I'd just read "Fantastic Beasts" before it and was already bored out of my mind.
The highlights of the books are the little notes and messages that Harry, Ron and Hermione write in them, but those are few and far between.
Overall, I found these about as interesting as a real schoolbook. I would reread any of the Harry Potter novels in a second, but I can't imagine myself ever reading these two books again.

"Quidditch Through the Ages" and "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" are two great books to read if you like the Harry Potter series. The one about Quidditch tells how the sport was formed, teams, moves, and other parts of the game. Fantastic Beasts explains the many beasts in the books, how they live, and what they do. If you want to have a great thing to read between the releases of the next books, you should think about purchasing this box set or just get them in paperback.

I really enjoyed reading both of these books, but I am a fan of all things Harry Potter. One note I feel must be made in addition to the other reviews is this: These books were written, published, etc. with no intent of making money off of the Harry Potter craze. As indicated on the back of the book and the introduction, all proceeds from these books were donated to a fund for needy children. This is also pointed out on this page under the heading "From the Publisher." I found this very admirable, and I felt moved to point this out to anyone considering purchasing these books!

This set of Schoolbooks by J.K. Rowling offers something for every Potter fan (or fanatic). For the fanatic, they will love and laugh at the tongue and cheek related to the novels as well as the background information that one gathers concerning beasts and Quidditch. I enjoyed reading these 2 little books! They were very interesting! In 'Quiditch Through the Ages' it had a wonderful history of the magical sport! It made you feel like it had really happened, and that's what great books are supposed to do! The 'Magical Beasts and Where to Find Them' was inspiring, it put your imagination to work!

They are silly and even have comments by Ron and Harry! These are great companions to the Harry Potter series! Plus a portion of the money goes to an organization for underprivilidged children! A great buy!

These two books are wonderful for every Harry Potter fan. Geared toward younger readers, adults will love them as well. Qudditch Through the Ages gives us a great history of the game as well as descriptions of current teams. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them gives us great information about the types of beasts found in the wizarding world. I don't know how useful these booklets are as reference guides to the Harry Potter series but they're fun to read. I'd say they take a more light hearted approach than the big books do and would be easier to read for the young reader.

I have both of these wonderful books and love them dearly. My favorite is Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them because mostly Harry and Ron, and 1 line from Hermione has supposedly "written" in this book. I reccomend it for all Potter Fans

Like everything by JK Rowling, the schoolbooks were both highly anticipated and wonderful to read. I was facinated by the insights into the historical growth of the quidditch game in Quidditch through the ages which was both historical and hysterical at the same time. Fantastic Beasts and where to find them was a wonderful overview of the magical creatures that make up the Potter Universe, and I loved the little side notes by Harry and Ron. While not wanting to take any more of Rowling's time away from writing book five, the main problem I had with the schoolbooks was that they were too short!

I think that the younger Harry Potter fans will like these quaint boooks. I thought it was cute to include "notes" from Harry and his friends. I think that some people reviewing this book may have other hostilies and problems with thier children and families and are taking it out on the author. I am sure you will see one particular review in here that fits that bill. I feel bad for that individual, but misplaced anger should not be put toward a book review. Bottom line, they are short and sweet and inexpensive. I think that Rowling has another hit with the younger set.

The books were very cute.. if you like Harry Potter, you would like these books! They are inexpensive, and support a good cause. ( The comic relief program in Europe.) The Fantastic Beasts and where to Find Them book is even Harry Potter's "real" textbook. The Quidditch book has all the people that have checked it out at the front, the very first person was Wood! My only problem is that they aren't long enough! These are a must have!

I enjoyed reading these two books. I really enjoyed the personal comments of Harry, Ron and Hermione of Fantastic Beast. It was good to read the Quidditch book after the series to better understand how the game came to be and why the wizarding enjoys it so much

The Harry Potter series is my all time time favorite. The books are about a normal boy who discores that he is wizard and a very important and famous one. He enters the world of magic and finds a better home and family than the one he has in the muggle(nonmagic) world. He starts assisting Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and is able to get away from home where live his picky Aunt Petunia, his fat Uncle Vernon and (worst of all) his naughty cousin Dudley. At Hogwarts now he is important, has friends, a pet, a magical education, and an opportunity to develope his talents. In the series one book is one school year.
The books are safe for young chidren and even fun for adults. The events and the characters make the books hilarious, exciting, and mistirious. One of the best things about them is that the things that happen all match together.

I think that Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them is cool with a capitol "C" because of all the fictinous monsters it tells about I especaly like the different kinds of dragons the book tells about.

I cannot see these as children's books. They're really for the adult who is preoccupied by the world of Harry Potter and all the minutia therein. And any American fan of soccer will love the bits in Quidditch about the shocking lack of obsession with the game in the States...

I enjoyed these books, though they are very short. A lot of the details are enormously interesting. Kennilworthy Whisp does a great job describing Quidditch ;-) Anyway they are certianly worth the paltry price considering it's for charity. I thought they were interesting and a must for the HP fan. You'll delight in Harry's world of magic! Now if we could just get someone to publish "Hogwarts: A History"!

Well, I was very excited to start reading the Potter books and absolutely love all of them, which is why I wanted to get my hands on anything Jo wrote (still do). However, as fantastic as it is to actually HAVE "Harry's books" they were not a big reading per se. I mean, for us Potterheads they're great and just love how little scribblings and jokes are around the edges of the book, these really fit into the fantazy they were really his at some point, which is hilarious. But there's the rub, if you're not a really big Potterhead there's not a lot TO read. Not a lot of contents.
So, there are two reasons for buying this one: one I explained (Potty headness); and the other is that Jo Rowling donated this cash to charity, which is always a great way to help.

These books are great if you're a Harry Potter fan. They give a little more insight into the wizrding world. They are especially useful while re-reading the HP series and you come across something and go "I wonder what that is!" Nice references to the books!

What a great read, it really gave the reader a little more insight into the world of Harry Potter. Both books had a wimsical but educational feel to them. I really enjoyed the written inserts of harry and Ron writing in the book, just like any other kid would do. It allowed the books to have a comical touch added. A great read for any age group, now if only there would be "A Hstory of Hogwarts" to go with it , I believe it would complete.

Pretty Cool! These two books add a great deal to Muggle knowledge about the hidden Magical world that is around us.
I found the basic information in both books interesting, but thought that the things you could derive from the footnotes and other comments almost more interesting. Items I found interesting: A conversion rate between Muggle and Wizard currency, more details on the Ministry of Magic, rules and laws and several publishing companies and more books printed for muggles. Additional spells can be found also!
Must read!

My children greatly enjoyed the extra books on Fantastic Beasts and Quidditch. If you or your kids love pretty much anything concerning Harry Potter, you will enjoy these and the money raised helps support a great cause. The books give insight into the game of Quidditch...history, rules, plays, teams, etc. The second book deals with many of the beasts that Hagrid would teach about in class and combines widely known magical creatures with those created specifically for the series.

This book is one of Harry's school books. I think that this book isnt interesting like the actual Harry Potter books. To tell the truth, Quidditch book is really really boring but might be Interesting to some Really obsessed Harry Potter fan who wants to know the history of Quidditch, etc. The Beast book is more interesting since it is the property of Harry's. There are scribbles of Harry and Ron. It is quite funny on the comments of them. So... my suggestion is, buy these books if you want to see the comments from various Harry Potter Book's character.

The Harry Potter Schoolbooks are written as if they really came from the wizarding world. The box set contains just too books which are around 50-70 pages long each, but include interesting back-story about the world of Harry Potter with respect to beasts and Quidditch. The books are inexpressive and also 20% of the cost should go to charity. I would really like to see more schoolbooks come out now that the seventh book in the series has been written. Half-Blood Prince's Potions book anyone?

Just enough to whet the appetite for those of us waiting for the next book. How can you go wrong for a few bucks and the good feeling knowing you're supporting an excellent charity? Some great tongue-in-cheek scribbles by Harry and his friends and references to allowing Muggles to have access to such info. I think the Fantastic Beasts one is the better of the two.

I loved Quidditch Through the Ages and Fantastic Beasts and Where to find them. They were both very well written and fun to read. Although they were great I do wish they were both a little longer and in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them I wish it had longer descriptions of the beasts/beings and had many more pictures. Otherwise these were both great books. Harry's comments were a nice touch to FBAWTFT!

These two books are a must have for any true Potter fan. having them is like being in the movie. You hear so much about his text books from the Hogwarts library. This item was purchased for a very devout Harry Potter fan. When she opened the books, her eyes lit up and the look on her face was priceless. Whether just a devoted reader, or a Harry Potter fan, this purchase will definitely please the owner. The one about Beasts I liked very much, because it had footnotes writen my Harry Potter and friends. But the one about Quidditch was pretty boring. It had no funny footnotes, unless you count the forword. I would have given Quidditch Through the Ages 3 stars and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 5 stars. the store.com should sell these books by themsevles and so if you liked one book better than the other, like me.

This two books are very good and funy. Of course I was expecting a little bit more from "Wonderful beasts and were to find them", but the comments maded by "Harry and Rony" is the best of this book. "Quidditch through the ages" is a very good guide for the ones who liked this game, it really explains how the game works, is great!

Short but very funny. The magical equivalent of "1066 and all that". But they are not supposed to be real serious books, like I presume the version of "Fantastic Beasts and where to find them" was that Harry and his friends used. I'm sure this is just an excerpt from the textbook, so people should calm down about it not looking like a real textbook!

as long as you buy this without too high of expectations, then you should be more than satisfied with the outcome. Obviously this is not a great literary work and it isn't Rowling's crown achievement... but it is entertaining for Harry Potter fans, which is the whole point of this quirky spin-off of the acclaimed series. Highly recommended as an add-on to ones complete Harry Potter collection!

These two books are adorable companions to the series. With forewords by "Albus Dumbledore" and "notes and scribblings" in them they are a light-hearted peek into the inner world that J. K. Rowling has created. With other added touches like the price in "Wizarding Money" on the back next to the Dollar Price they lift the spirit with a smile. The fact that a portion of the cost goes to charity makes this a double gift and a wonderful one at that.

I wasn't sure about these books, but they are very interesting and informative! Also, in the Fantastic Beasts, Harry, Ron, and Hermione all write in notations and different commentaries as you read. This is a great product. Yes the two books are very thin, but the font is also small, making it a lot more information in the books. The fonts are not too small to read though. A wise investment, and 20% of sales goes to Comic Relief of Great Britain, a fine charity.

I liked these schoolbook due to the fact that its a good reference book and gave me a good laugh while reading it. in quidditch... you'll find the list of students who borrowed the book from the library. in fantastic...(which, for me is more hilarious) is the exact copy of Harry's own book. it even has the funny comments by harry and ron (you really have to check this). a perfect gift or an addition to your collection.

Fantaastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Quiddich Through the Ages are wonderful. I had reread the Potter series for the umpteenth time, anxiously awaiting the last book, and decided to purchase these because I was in a Harry Potter mood.

I was not disappointed, Ms. Rowling had done it again--in a trice I was back at Hogwarts happily studying with Harry, Ron and Hermione.

No Potter lover will ever be complete without them--just buy them. Trust me.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a cute book that every serious Harry Potter fan will want. It isn't all that great a read but it does have some interesting information about the creatures we have encountered in the Harry series. I was sort of disappointed in the little handwritten comments that Harry, Ron, and Hermione were supposed to have written in the book. It is difficult to tell who had written which comment. All in all, I wish that Rowling would have spent the time working on Book 5 but I'm glad that the proceeds from this book will be going to a good cause.

These books were excellent, like an extension of the much-loved main Harry Potter books with interesting content about creatures & quidditch history. Of course the boxed set is better because it encloses two good books in one! I enjoyed them and the humurous notes along the margins, but did find the books somewhat monotonous at times.

A great reference book for HP fans!

These two books clearly are for ages 8-14. Nevertheless I think that for people who have come to love Mrs Rowling's hero, buying these two books is a good way to pay tribute to the series!!! Of course the writing is clearly for kids in contradiction with the books witch have grown as to finally mature in the last two books of Harry Potter's adventures.

I bought these online and was disappointed. I thought the concept was great but very poorly executed. The books are very short and the marginal notes aren't funny at all. The text itself is dull (unreadably so). If I had been able to see them in a store I would have flipped through them and not purchased them, but I took the online risk because after all, they were written by JKR. A better buy is The Sorcerer's Companion, which gives the history behind the legends while still referring to the HP books. It's got some great illustrations, too. It's very sad. I got this set for my nephew for his birthday. It arrived and the plactic cover was all torn and shredded and the box that held the books was damaged. The actually books were also dented and damged but the outside packaging was fine. I made a point of buying this Brand New so he would have it for his collection. Now it's not even worth adding to his collection. And there's no time to do anything about it. Thanks for nothing!
