This book is amazing. I love all of the interactive features like wanted posters, the map of the magical world and the wand permit. It is a beautiful, very sturdy book and an amazing collector's item if you were a fan of the Fantastic Beasts movie. It features details about the characters, costumes and many of the props of the movie.

I gave this to my 10-year old daughter for Christmas. She is a big Harry Potter fan, and loved the Fantastic Beasts movie. The book and pages are good quality, with lots of interesting items to explore.

Incredible book! The design of the cover plus all the fun pull outs and little pages inside make this book. Absolutely love it! And loved the movie too; once you've seen the movie, you'll appreciate the book even more.

So you, also, loved Fantastic Beasts? Great! I took a mound of Fantastic Beasts film tie-in books out of the library and I have provided a summarized review for you of each book to help you pick out the best souvenir for your needs. All books are lovely and well-produced. The books are approximately in price point order, from most expensive to least expensive.

1. Fantastic beasts and where to find them : the art of the film
This is a gorgeous book written by a concept artist that focuses on the brilliant artwork of Stuart Craig, one of the top production designers in the business. Those sets and fantastic beasts took a lot of brilliant design work, and you can really appreciate it by seeing the sketches, storyboards, and paintings for the movie. This book is for those who are interested in the art side – this is, after all, about “the art of the film” - and not for the more general reader who want to learn more about Newt and friends, filming secrets, and the cast. Stunning, stunning, stunning. 5+ stars.

The Case of Beast and derivatives:
2. The case of beasts : explore the film wizardry of Fantastic beasts and where to find them
This is the ultimate FB movie accompaniment. Absolutely beautiful! It contains information about the characters, interviews with the cast and crew, and lots of information on the making of the movie. Also contains scrapbook-style materials, including large envelopes with maps and wanted posters. A bargain at the current price (under thirty bucks). 5 stars.

3. Newt Scamander : a movie scrapbook
This is, essentially, a junior version of The Case of Beasts and is half the price -- and you even get your maps and other fun stuff. Some of the scrapbook-type materials a bit silly and tangential, such as mini-envelopes with playing cards; but, hey, it is half the price of the Case of Beasts and, like The Case of Beasts, is also beautifully produced. 4.5 stars, losing ½ a star for the silly scrapbook stuff.

4. Inside the magic : the making of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
This is another lovely book and contains the essentially the same material as the The Case of Beasts, but without the scrapbook stuff. If you don’t have use for the scrapbook stuff, then get this one at less than half the price of The Case of Beasts. 5 stars.

Books for the kids and the cheap at heart:
5. Fantastic Beasts Character Guide
6. Fantastic Beasts Magical Movie Handbook
These are both nice souvenirs of the movie, with lots of photos, and perfect for the younger set. Unfortunately, they are very, very similar: same publisher, same author, pretty much same content, and comparable page size. The difference is that the Character Guide is hardcover and costs about twice as much as the softcover Magical Movie Handbook. Admittedly, the Character Guide has more pages; however, the content is comparable between the two books. In short, skip the Character Guide and get the Magical Movie Handbook, instead.
I am a little concerned that Scholastic put out essentially two versions of the same book under different titles. Anybody who buys both should feel cheated and taken advantage of. For that reason, I have put my rating of the Character Guide down to a mediocre three stars in an attempt to save you from this fate. Meanwhile, the Magical Movie Handbook gets five stars. The Magical Movie Handbook is the cheapest movie tie-in book I have found.

Happy reading!

I bought this "collectible" book as a gift for my daughter. When it arrived, the book was just in a box with 2 other items that I had purchased. unprotected. It had several nics in the cover and binding. My daughter asked if I had bought it used. The book would have been awesome if not for this.

Very cute book with a lot of high quality pictures and pages talking about Behind the Scenes stuff, character bios, etc. The only problem I had with it was that all the pages had a very potent smell of ink. I am no scientist, but I am sure the smell of ink chemicals is pretty harmful to one's health. Overall, this item is definitely a collector's item for the avid JK Rowling's Wizarding World fan.

Absolutely incredible book designed by the team behind the graphics in the film!! They are legends. Looking through this book is a magical treat in itself, filled with incredible reproductions of various paper props as well, and so full of interesting designs to look at. Pretty much a must by kind of thing for any film or Harry Potter fan.

If you saw the movie and loved it this book is an absolute must have! The graphic design and artistry on the pages and how it's laid out is perfection and very reminiscent of printing and design layout from the movie era. The added inserts and envelopes holding extra pieces of information only make this book all the more appealing. Even the wand permit application at the back of the book is an extra treat. The added bonus to this wonderful book are the pages being bound together and held as if they were inserted into a leather satchel. This book is a wonderful investment and well worth the price.

My 8 year old daughter loves this book. There are many pages that have "take out" maps or documents. Many interactive pages throughout. It is also a pretty hefty book. Initially I was worried because the price is a little high for a book, but now I see it is totally worth it. It is different than her other chapter books, so that made it even more special and unique.

Gave this as a gift and it was a huge hit. We saw it on sale in a warehouse club but of course the store had it cheaper. The book is well bound and FILLED with information pertaining to the movie and the story. The recipient was overjoyed.

I adore behind-the-scenes books, but when you add such clever and beautifully done details such as the cover flap closure, the embossing, the removeable items, and the overall quality of the entire book, this becomes a must-have item for any Potter-world fan.
