I expected more from this book. The few examples for how one can lead without a title were helpful, but it left me wanting more. Not only in examples was it lacking but in material of how to go about it. I was also disappointed in the lack of spiritual content. I believe many examples could have been mined from scripture, but not even the most obvious ones were mentioned. Perhaps that was in an attempt to not be Biblical; I don't know. I understand when authors want to appeal to non-Christians that they may start on neutral ground and lead into the spiritual, but that wasn't the case here.
The writing and format were easy to follow. It was a well written book, just a little short and not deep. It is worth reading and a quick read at that. The eBook was as expected; turn 3 pages on my iTouch to one page in the book, which was only 81 pages. I consider it more a booklet, than a book. I also consider it more for the beginner in leadership, instead of one who is already there and looking for more.
I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review.

Mark Sanborn has created the perfect desk reference for young and experienced leaders alike. For those who are well versed in leadership, this is a concise and inspiring refresher that presents brand new spins and stories instead of the same old regurgitated clichés. For young leaders this is the one book that you must have because it captures the principles of genuine leadership in a way that makes sense with today's dynamic work environments.

Sanborn hits us all square between the eyes early on with the huge question: "if you had no title or ability to reward or penalize could you still get people to follow you?" I strongly encourage all of our team of employees to read this step by step system to make sure the answer to that question is YES.

This book is filled with inspirational material which helps anyone become a leader at any level. All you need to do is inspire people, educate yourself and be passionate about your life. This is a highly recomended book for all indivuals who lead, want to lead, or want to think like a leader.

While there is nothing new and it is common sense, everything seems to be in one neat package.

Based upon reading "The Fred Factor," I was looking forward to reading this book. This was a terribly disappointing book. Mr. Sanborn seemed to jump from one cliche'd topic to another, spouting very generic bromides and "feel good" catchphrases.

I truly believe the garbage in-garbage out philosophy, especially when it comes to what you put in your head. I also generally like uplifting books, especially when they offer concrete steps you can try to follow. This book is just too generic and "blah."

Do yourself a favor a try another title.

I've read this book twice and really enjoyed it. Mark has done a great job with giving the message that we all make a difference.

It's easy to get wrapped up in the everyday life and forget that we are making a difference in the world.

This book will help to get us back on track.

This books definitely defies the myth that true leaders are born leaders. The author uses examples of stories and excellent quotes to explain principles of leadership in a very efficient manner. I am quite sure that I can be a true leader if I follow the advice given by Mark Sanborn in his book. In addition, the book is concise and straight to the point which makes it quite appealing to the reader. Overall, this book is a must to the collection of a true leader.

I like reading books that have the quality of being an easy read. The power of positive outlook and attitude toward work can not be over estimated. The author does not limit the discussion to the business world, but that is the bulk of the focus. It is easy to become self absorbed in the day to day activities without really considering the impacts of our actions. This book draws attention to these details in leadership.

Sometimes the most powerful and effective messages are the simple ones. Mark Sanborn reminds us of this with the idea that any of us, no matter who we are or what our career path is, can have a meaningful impact on the lives of others. Thanks for the reminder Mark!

There is too much negative leadership wherever you may go nowadays. Mark Sanborn has written a book which is a how to book on using your positive qualities to make a difference at home, on the job, or anywhere else where you make your presence known.

As the title says, you don't need a title to be a leader, just a desire to make your organization a better place. Mark gives us many examples of people who didn't have titles, or qualifications, but were leaders nonetheless.

"You Don't Need a Title to Be a Leader: How Anyone, Anywhere, Can Make a Positive Difference" is a book that should be a part of your personal library. Buy two and share with others to encourage the development of leadership skills.
