I enjoyed the read! :D Characters not over complex and believable enough. Writing flows well and the plot but doesn't overwhelm with minute details or descriptions. It's a light read with enough emotion to compel one to keep on reading. Ending could have several outcomes-- and author chose the easy way for it to end. Again, it's a light, entertaining read! Will go on to read the second in this sequel.

I loved Laura’s Queen of All That Dies series, and I found this book to be almost as beautiful and heart wrenching. Fortunately, my heart was wrenched a little less, and I have absolutely nothing negative to say. Great characters, well written story, believable character growth, emotional journey... I can’t wait for the next book!

This book is super damn amazing........... I never really write reviews but I just have to for this book!! So this is definitely not your average romance where is thing is cute and wrapped in ribbons so if you are faint of heart you might not want to read this but it does sort of have its HEA I can tell you that. Please read this book it was magnificent!!!!!
Sky in the Deep :: A Dark Paranormal Romance (The Marked Saga Book 1) :: Book Three - The Beauty of Darkness - The Remnant Chronicles :: A Reaper at the Gates (An Ember in the Ashes) :: The Watchers Trilogy) (Young Adult Paranormal Romance)

Great read, lots of emotion the writer makes you feel like your there, you feel the mc’s emotions ????❤️ I was really hating pestilence at the beginning and was wondering how the author will change my mind abt. Him it seems impossible, I thought I’m pretty sure the mc is not gonna love him after what he did, I’m like...not happening. but wow the author did it! that’s writing skills for you! I know I found I great book when I’m anxious to read the next and hate the wait, and sad when the series ends that your looking for her other books to glimpse some of the characters back, and I think this series is gonna be like that.

DISAPPOINTMENT!! THAT IS the best word to describe this book. It's almost like this book was quickly put together!! There is no chemistry, the female character made me embarrassed to be a woman. Another commentor said it best, Stockholm Syndrome. I cant even compare this female character to a child because a child has more sense, especially when it's the end of the world. I don't know where the 4 or 5 stars came from, but I won't continue the series...

One of the best books I've read in a while. I didn't feel like it was rushed like some books in this genre are. She took her time developing characters and I really felt myself getting emotional when things happened to them. It was happy, sad, romantic, funny, and tragic all at the same time! I'm definitely going to be reading more of her books and I will be waiting for the next one in this series to come out!

This book was much more than I was expecting. She really did a great job of making you see both characters point of view and was able to paint a very graphic image of both mans cruelty to man and still show our capacity for love and caring. I was surprised how many times the story touched me enough to make me cry.

I have to say this book was so much more than I was expecting. There was a stronger story than even the romance. It had my emotions spinning from one extreme to the other. Pestilence learning mercy and love leaves you with the impression anything is possible. I am eagerly awaiting the next book War.

My entire day revolved around when I could get back to this story! I absolutely love the thought process of the characters, the lessons learned, and I absolutely Love the whole idea behind this book! This was for sure not lacking any emotion. I do hope there's more of their life in the next book. I can't imagine the ending teasing us readers any better! I'm officially hooked on this series... P.S. I LOVE your excerpt of 'about the author'! Can't wait to read your other books, even if I'll be useless to my family when I begin another story!

I bought this book on a whim and I literally could not put it down. It was fantastic! Wonderfully written and the characters were so real. I loved the push and pull of their relationship and even despite his job description I fell in love with Pestilence. I’m eagerly waiting the release of War.

It is really hard to express how this book makes me feel... I cried so hard most of the time, reading how the plague killed so many people, but also my heart melted at Pestilence falling in love with Sara, he's my new book boyfriend. Amazing start of the series, can't wait to read War!!! ❤️

This is such a creative book. It brings up a controversial topic but it weaves it into the plot of the story so well. The main leading characters in this book have such a great connection. This apocalyptic book is ingenious and different from others because it ties things into what it really is to be human.

I don't normally bother leaving reviews, but this one here is gonna be a special case. I don't know how Laura Thalassa managed to make me like such an unlikable character (because, seriously, Pestilence is a real A hole), but bravo. Such intensity! Such a great mental image of an unearthly presence. By the time these two got together I was about ready to explode. What a build up! Really enjoyed this book! Can't wait for the next!

Ok. I did NOT expect this to be half as good as it was. It was amazing. Spiritual (in a surprisingly respectful way for a sacreligious concept) and thought provoking. Some horrible, seemingly irredeemable things happen in this book. I ugly cried at least 3 times. I would not say it was an easy pleasure read, but the payoff... Oh, it is SO worth it. Can't wait for the next one.

I was a little hesitant to start this book based on the idea behind it, but I love another series by the author and wanted to give it a good try. I really enjoyed it! Definitely not a preachy story, but I also felt no disrespect for Christianity or other religions. I read to escape, and that is exactly what this book offered. I enjoyed the development of Pestilence as he learns to love. I'm curious to see how the rest of the series is done, but if they will be like book 1, I know I will be very pleased!

This book was fantastic. A friend recommended it, and I'm so glad she did. The story was full of so many thought provoking truths and emotion. The characters were rich and seeing their growth was satisfying. I could see myself rereading in on multiple occasions.

All I can literally say is wow!! This book was sooooo good. I literally couldn't put it down. I ignored people for a whole day. This story is so unexpected and beautiful. I don't want to give away spoilers so all I'll say is this book was everything and if you are looking for a great read this is it!! I literally can't wait to read the story of War.

I couldn't put this book down and now I'm squirming and waiting for the next like a kid that needs to pee. Laura builds the characters and relationships slowly, this is not a "quick fap" trashy love novel. I enjoyed the story and progression and now very anxiously am awaiting War

The intricate details to this story that were artfully placed as not to be boring or overwhelming was simply a delight. I did not expect this book to be as wonderful as it was. Pestilence went from a feared creature to someone who develops what it truly means to understand humanity in a very well written and well paced story. The romance was off the charts and the sincerity of emotion was lovely. Give this one a shot if you're on the fence, it's totally worth it.

I will read anything L. Thalassa writes. There are a few I haven’t made it to yet, but I’m working on them.
Pestilence was excellent, I read it in one sitting. It’s differnet from the Queen or the Bargainer stories but if you enjoyed them, you’ll love this one too.

This book is full of the best and worst of humankind and how it might affect our ultimate demise. Can't say I agree with all that it proposes but it certainly is thought provoking. Not fond of the language and the sex scenes, but that aside loved this book.

This is an epic story. I have read a lot of books and this is one of the best. How on earth did the author make pestilence a sympathetic character... well written, interesting and hard to put down. I would recommend this read and I can't wait for the next one.

...I believe they were bought. This is a horrid story. Warning spoilers ahead. The only reason I read this story to completion was because I was hoping the heroine would come to her senses or the plot would somehow make sense. This was a very immature look at love. It’s not really dark fantasy but sick fantasy. The “horsemen” continues to kill mortals, but falls in love with just one of them because she’s different than the other billion or so on the planet. And she falls in love with him despite him literally shooting her with an arrow, dragging her behind a horse, and oh don’t forget killing millions of people in a very horrific manner. The author sort of gives us some idea that she’s conflicted about it, but then there’s the standard twilight bullshit about “he’s so handsome” lust. Please don’t waste your time. Go search Jacqueline Carter or Grace Draven for real dark fantasy.

Book 1 of the Four Horsemen, Pestilence story. Ok, I had a love hate relationship with this book. Although well written, some parts lost me and some parts bored me to tears. But for the most part it was a cool story. Graphic drama, likeable characters and very angsty.

Damn this is some good writing, reminds me of the writings of Anne Rice. I was holding my breath sometimes the words were so beautiful. An unconventional love story that is tragic, romantic and with biblical prophesy. Truly good writing, waiting impatiently for next installment.

This was an awesome read! I actually could not put this book down. I love the backstory of the first days, through Sara's growth and relationship with pestilence as the story continues. Tensed at times, and at others laughed at Sara's witty thoughts, and even cried in the more tender moments. Definitely recommend this book and cannot wait for the next!

Let me start by saying that I could NOT put this book down!!!! I just had to finish it. Yes there are some editing issues but they in no way detract from the story. I loved this book and adored the 2 main characters. Ms. Thalassa really brought her characters to life. I can't wait for the next book, War in this series!

Phenomenal. One of my new favorite books that I will definitely be re-reading while I wait for the next book in the series. The arc of how these two characters navigate their changing relationship was so well developed and absorbing. I understood the heroine and the way she was written made it easy to empathize with her choices. Clearly this is a romance but I appreciate that the themes the author explore go deeper. I loved reading this and appreciate that while this is a series the characters here aren’t left hanging.

The story of the horsemen is a good idea but the whole romance seemed rushed and silly. The writing wasn't bad but could use a good editor. This ended up being more of a young adult romance so I didn't enjoy it as much as I hoped.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat. I simply couldn't put it down. So many times I was torn between loving and despising Pestilence. The scenery, the descriptions, Trixie... just perfect. Humanity at its ugliest and love will still find a way. Beautiful job.

This was my first book by this author, and I am so excited to read more.

To express how beautiful and deep this book is. Raw, that's how I'd describe it. I was taken on quite the ride with this one. I was taken through the worst and best of humanity and reminded of the power of pain and love alike.

Loved that's it's not an insta love it morphed into a love. My pros was not an insta love more build up. My cons it should have speed up in some areas it kinda had a drawn out feel. Repetitive feel. Pro I liked it was a new concept with the horseman. And has room to be a good series. Con killing just to kill I usually don't mind that but it felt more forced in this. If you are gonna do things go balls to the wall don't dangle and wish wash. I think this book overall has some great potential I just hope that the writer can speed up on some points and not be repetitive.

I wasn't expecting to love this book nearly as much as I did. I expwcted a quick, nice, B rated book (since that was what I finished when this was recomended). Yeah, this blew that idea out of the watern I laughed I cried, I raged, it was like reading the Inferno by Dan B. for the first time. I was hooked stayed up late b and within four hours of starting it, I finished it in a solid read though. I recomend this book if your looking for love and lust, and reinvention, in a complicated apocalyptical setting..

This is book one of The four Horsemen series. And it was great.
Sara is just a small town girl. Chosen to save the world.

Then she's captured by Pestilence.
And together they learn to change each other's hearts.

This book is a page turner! However, the lack of a suspenseful and meaningful plot earns it three stars. The entire book is a conversation between Pestilence and Sara. I wanted more action and a more complicated story line

I have been in such a reading rut lately. Mostly, I am unable to find a book that I can actually finish because of the lack in character personalities or boring story line. Pestilence is the first book that has truly caught my attention since finishing one of Sarah J. Maas’ stories. The characters are funny and loveable, and the story never drags or feels boring to read. I was sad to finish this book and I so look forward to the next book in the series. Read this Pestilence, you won’t be sorry!

I never leave reviews, but I had to for this book. I couldn't put it down! I have always enjoyed the work of Laura Thalassa, but this one is by far my favorite. Ugh the feels! I had all the emotional range while reading this book. I loved it, hated it, cried, to name a few. This is probably the most violence I have seen in her novels. It’s a good book but it took me a while to love Pestilence. Usually her antiheros are easy to fall for but this wasn’t hard till the almost end. Great read but make sure you have the time to read it all the way through.

I love the fact that this isn't a typical romance, it's more of a love/hate deal . The emotional rollercoaster Sara goes through makes you really feel what her situation is like and leaves you questioning how you'd react in her shoes. I never leave reviews but I'll make and exception for this book!

I love all parts of this book. It's one of those books that drags you into its world and you have a serious "book hangover" when its done. For those like me that hate the "insta-love/insta-lust", this is for you. This book is one of those exceptional romances where balance between character development, romance, and adventure is perfect.

It was amazing and I can't wait for the next installment.

I picked this book thinking it would be just another of a long line of supernatural themed romances. Which I like! But I was stunned, from the very first chapter and on, by the emotional depth that the characters have. Each had a point of view that was both believable and relatable. I couldn't hate pestilence and easily placed myself squarely in the heroines role. I laughed, I cried and I fell in love too. This was a surprisingly excellent read.

I have the biggest book hangover in the best way. I literally sat and stared at nothing after I finished, wondering how I was going to find another book to keep as remotely captivated. I have read every single one of Laura’s books and I am blown away each time. This was such an amazing story I know it’s one I will read again and again. The relationship of Sara and Pestilence is tragically beautiful. I will be counting the seconds until the next book!

I read this so quickly i cannot wait to read the follow up war. The characters are written very well and you can not help but fall in love with sarah the heroine of this storey. Pestilance is written like any girls wet dream but all the same, loved seeing his transition througput the storey as well.

I loved this book. I couldn't put it down. At times I was turned off of Sara's language in comparison to who her character but at the end it didn't matter because the book was great. I can't wait until the 2nd book

This book made me go through more emotional highs and lows than any book I have ever read (which was amazing). You can relate to the main character and Pestilence wants to make you beat the crap out of him and love him at the same time. I HIGHLY recommend this book!

I kept trying to see how the author would pull this off after such a horrifying apocalyptic beginning. Not much happens to the characters. She reads poetry to someone who only wants everyone on Earth to die. Why does everyone need to die? Is it because we are all so evil? I’m really not sure. Why does she fall in love with such a Hitleresque person? He’s evidently very pretty. Why does she say "has went" instead of "has gone"? I wanted to see something spectacular happen. But it seems all she had to do was leave him. And then everything was okay once more. Except the lights were still glitchy. And people were still dead. The book does have a nice cover.

I truly love the main characters in this book. The smart mouth on Sara and the almost naive charm to Pestilence make you just love them both. You kind of want to hate his cruelty until you see him for what he is. Wonderfully developed characters. Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Read it through in one day (didnt sleep much)! Can't wait for the next book.

This story absolutely ruined me in a good way. The subtle teachable moments Laura Thalassa (girl, seriously, you can write like the devil with mercy <3) has a way of opening my eyes (as I hope it has done to anyone that has read this book) to be more compassionate, to have more patience and that love certainly does conquer all. Can't wait for the next edition. This is my favorite so far in a very long time.

This book touches on so many things that could be reality. Humanity can be very violent and cruel in the real world and you will find that could be part of humanity's downfall. I loved it and it was definitely not what I expected. Ready for the next book.

I found this book on a whim and thought I'd give it a try on a rainy night. Read it right through in one sitting. This is not your standard supernatural romance fare. The author weaves in some pretty serious thoughts about human nature, the impact of choices, and the ability to change our own direction. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series!

I enjoy dark fantasy books. This was a good book and a girl coming to terms with what she is willing to live with. I am unsure if the 2nd horseman book at beat this one. Will be be more of the same or something new all together.

Three stars for the cliffhangers otherwise a 5 Star book. This is a great story. I love feeling like I’m on the roller coaster of emotions as the characters. I’m over authors tacking on cliffhangers. I would have read the next book in the series regardless.

Omg this book was amazing, it made me cry so much (at least a couple of times) I was actually sobbing like a child but at the end it was worthly, it really connected with my feelings like love and compassion, it has been so long since I found a book that could awaken those kind of feelings, a Must-have Read!!! YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!

This is perhaps one of the best books I've had the pleasure of reading in a very long time. I couldn't put it down and stayed up all through the night to finish it. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of them soon and seem to have found a new (to me) author that I greatly enjoy.

I’ll likely check out the next installment in the series. There were some grammatical errors that caught my eye which is why I took a star away....not the best book I’ve ever read but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

I have to admit that I was a little skeptical as to how a romance can be made out of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, but I should have known better than to doubt Laura Thalassa! This was a GREAT read. I can't wait for the second series.

Right away I had to purchase this because how cool is it to write a story involving romance with one of the four horseman of the apocalypse?! Thalassa, the author, always brings it and even though she does have a distinct style, all her series are so different from each other and creative, and she always delivers on the sexy stuff. You will not be disappointed. I also highly recommend her Bargainer series, and all her series, really. They're all a unique experience.

This book made me cry. Bawl my eyes out cry. It ripped my heart out of my chest and then restored my faith. It was an unconventional love story and I've never read anything like it before. It kept me hooked the whole way through and was worth every minute.

Seriously fantastic writing. I have work in a few hours and still couldn't put this book down. It's so different from what I normally read that I just couldn't. I even cried and that rarely happens. But omg I need the rest of this series stat!

I choose a five star rating. Loved how you could see the change in them both an there love grow as the chapters continue . I love that the writer gave us all kinds of different sides to human kind an what -more in likely,right?- would happen if the four horsemen really cane to the world. I just loved it an can't wait for WAR

This is one if those books you start reading and then rationalize you dont have to go to sleep yet: just one more chapter, then one more hour, turns into, "well I might as well finish the book!"

Entertaining, well written, interesting characters, the story was well paced 5 stars. I'm excited for the next one!

Not going to lie, I definitely got this book just because I was so curious how Laura Thalassa could craft a romance with someone so reviled such as Pestilence. But it worked. OH GOD IT WORKED. 10/10 can't wait for the other three horsemen and so bummed there aren't like, ninety-nine horsemen of the apocalypse.

I loved the way she was able to keep Pestilence's character true to himself but still able to be affected by Sara. The development of the character's relationship was on and off but never got boring. Well constructed story line. I can not wait until War breaks out.

This was well done. It turned out to be so much more than I was expecting. I liked that their relationship doesn’t change the reality of their circumstances. The author takes an in-depth look at what each must do to remain together. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

You did not Tell us how pestilence was able to stop what he was doing and what he had to do to be with her. Left me feeling as if I wasted my time during the story because there was no closure about him.

Pleasantly surprised. The cover first got my attention but the story made me a fan. I could not this book down. I found myself rooting for the "villain." The story was written in a way that grabs hold of you. I can't wait for the next book.

Well folks Laura does it once again with this book. It starts off with a woman named Sara who literally draws the short end of the stick and has to stay back and wait for Pestilence who just happens to be 1 of the four horseman of the apocalypse. Out of thin air Pestilence, War, Famine and Death came to earth to destroy it. So when Sara tries to kill him, it doesn't work so he takes her as his prisoner. As their journey continues Pestilence has to raid houses for supplies and sleep for the human all so he can speead his plague. He was sent to earth to destroy what the humans have already been doing since the beginning of time. He of course is happy to do it considering God sent him to fulfill his task. But something changes, the longer he is with Sara he starts to get very curious about her and her humanity. You see most of the humans he has came in contact with have just be flat out hateful and destructive. But the funny thing is that he doesnt actually enjoy watching people die. But in the end him and Sara fall for one another. But unfortunately she leaves him because she can't watch another person die. But one day the unexpected happens, the plague disappears as does Pestilence. So as Sara sits sad and lonely she's gets a visitor and of course its..... Pestilence to claim her as his and also to let her know that his task has been fulfilled and that he reversed the plague. Please people go get this book ASAP!!!

Perfect combination of an end-of-the-world plot and characters that made this story a really good read. The end felt a little angsty, but believable in consideration of the events that occurred. This a good read!

I truly enjoyed reading this. The motives driving the plot were believable, nothing ever felt forced or rushed. The writer used some modern slang (meme type words) like “feels,” which were off putting, but, overall the writing was good.

I’ve enjoyed Laura’s other series and this one is no exception to her addictive story telling.
As a fan of the show Supernatural, I enjoyed their twist on the 4 Horsemen and Laura’s take on them is another interesting version.
