Mr. Hynd does an expert job in constantly keeping you interested and he throws in enough twists and turns to avoid predictability. This is the second Noel Hynd espionage thriller I have read and I am now going to get another one because I find them so great!

This early novel by Noel Hynd is very tautly written and moves the reader along easily. It is a complicated tale of espionage with well fleshed-out characters, ingenious sub-plots and excellent descriptions of the time period.
It is hard to put down and makes you want to read more by this author, which I have. Highly recommended.

I enjoyed it, and it all seemed to be believeable until the end. I think the Roosevelts should have been saved; the author could have had the authorities succeed in warning the vessel in time for them to leave it.

Except for typos which should have been caught by a proof-reader (are there such people anymore?) this was a very good book which held my attention all the way through. The characters are very likable which made me just keep on and on reading to find out what happened. I will look for more books by this author.

The general plot idea for this WWII spy thriller was clever, and so far as I can tell the tradecraft was authentic.

The author could have improved the book by doing more careful checking of background facts. I was confused for a while by the author's use of the HMS prefix to refer to what was apparently a civilian ship. So far as I know, HMS (His/Her Majesty's Ship) applies only to warships of the United Kingdom. One of these ships has a concrete deck in its engine room. I'd never heard of that, and it seems unlikely.

Errors of spelling, word usage and grammar are sprinkled throughout.

The plot was good enough to keep my interest despite the distractions caused by these mistakes. It had some good surprises. For people who, unlike me, don't consider errors like these to be important, I'd recommend the book for its plot.

I liked the premise of the story. There were some interesting twists in the book. The book is easy to read, and flows well. There were only a few typos in the kindle version, but even with the few typos it was easily understandable.

an action packed thriller, with a lot of twists and turns, a bit of romance, and a surprise ending. An excellent read, taking place in the weeks and months leading up to World War 2. Highly recommended.

This was a great book. Recommend it to all persons who love thrillers. I had a hard time putting it aside to get anything else accomplished. As for the errors I found a few but if I was reading a paper book I would have corrected them and gone on. Since it was an E book I just went on and used the correction and it did not diminish the wonderful quality of the book.

"Flowers From Berlin" has been well researched for historical background and facts. It is almost as good as reading history. However, it is full of suspense that one likes in international intrigue. I recommend "Flowers From Berlin" to anyone who likes
this type of literature.

Not a bad yarn about an upper class Englishwoman who falls for a handsome Princeton man of impeccable family, but she is a British agent and he may not be a good choice. But the depiction of the German political atmosphere before World War II is somewhat sanitized. And upper-class England is the embodiment of all that is good. The good guys and bad guys declare themselves in a very blatant and un-nuanced manner, making them hard to believe.

My response to this book is tepid. I started with 2 stars and then changed to 3 just to be somewhat kinder to the author. Two grating aspects of the book were the misspellings and the mismatched tense transitions. The author's notes did explain how the book had been processed through multiple editors due to the vagaries of the publishing companies but these mistakes were many and began to look like laziness on someone's part. Another distraction to an interesting plot line was the author's propensity to repeat the same descriptive phrases. Numerous times he described the protagonist's sweaty palms. There are are just so many times one can use that to enhance the tension of a scene. The plot line had potential but was frequently being derailed by the author's rather lackadaisical attention to history. As a disclaimer, my favorite WWII fictional writers are Alan Furst and Joseph Kanon. Those two set a high standard for quality so it's not fair to expect all others to write at their level. It's just that this author didn't seem to pay attention to the fine details that are not about talent but effort.

A very well written book and an excellent spy novel.
Knowing the history of the Second World War and having read many novels I was indecisive about yet another one to read.
I was glad about having read it. Have read a number of Noel Hynd's book and enjoyed them all.
Highly recommend this book.

This book was recommended by a friend, and I have sent the recommendation on to others. Very well composed novel. Very intriguing and it really holds your interest. At the end, the author explains why there are quite a few editing errors, which I found really interesting.
