Love Kristen Ashley and love love love this book! After Rock Chicks I didn't think I would care as much for the Colorado Mountain series - I was wrong - this is my favorite so far of all the books I've read!

I believe this is the first time I am giving three stars to a Kristen Ashley book.
Sadly I just didn't connect completely with the characters. I hate when men call their women "mamma". And lastly the book just didn't flow smoothly. Examples of the start of sentences and paragraphs: then he said, then she did, and he walked, and she did this or that... it completely broke up the flow of the story.
I adore this author, however this was not one I will be re-reading like her Rock Chick series or the Sweet Dreams book.

This is book #3 in the Colorado Mountain series and my least favorite of the fifteen KA novels I've read. To be honest, I had to force myself to finish the last half while skimming page after page of descriptions. Every piece of furniture. Every article of clothing. Every ingredient of every meal. This might be acceptable while in the head of a materialistic, food-obsessed POV, but when a rough-all-over ex-con is detailing his girl's strappy high-heels in his inward monologue (as in thinking about the strap design like a girl would), it doesn't work. It's unrealistic and...well, boring. I never warmed up to Ty. Could've been his inarticulate pronoun-and-verb-lacking grunting. Could've been his referring to his girl as his p*ssy and b*tch. A couple times, I wouldn't have noticed. But the frequency made me cringe. Nevertheless, the book wasn't so awful to turn me away from the series. I'll come back for the next book because eventually I'll remember that I have loved all of KA's other alpha males.
Rough Ride: A Chaos Novella :: Golden Trail (The 'Burg Series Book 3) :: Games of the Heart (The 'Burg Series Book 4) :: Complicated :: Rock Chick Regret

Excellent plot!! However, awkward and broken sentence structure, as well as intermittent errors and omissions made reading this book tedious, ambiguous, and confusing. Perhaps in an attempt to develop the characters, these problems occurred. The result was that meaning was lost.

Also, in today's society, I doubt that such a man exists--one with such great values and appreciation for women. And if he does, is there a woman who will initially accept the disrespect and anger he dished out?

Knowing all this, a reader might still be able to enjoy the book.

This was my favorite of the Colorado Mountain series. It had many twists and turns in the story line so much that I could not put it down. As for the two main characters, HOT! Highly recommend this love story!

It was good but had a hard time getting into the two main characters. Seems like in parts it was boring so it took me a long time to read because of not being interested enough---except towards the end where it really got interesting! I do love the fact that she told us about "5 years" into the future & how their lives had turned out--gives to you more closure!

. . .And she's likable. He's likable, too, when he's not behaving like a cave man. He calls women "pussy", which instead of objecting to, she rolls with. I am not down with 'pussy' and 'bitches' as terms. His friends don't use them (except for the prison buddy who boosts cars and has three girlfriends). Not sure why a wife is called mama, or why she thinks it's so wonderful. He's the best looking man she has ever seen, like "a superhero" she calls "Mr. Humongo", so, whatever he says goes. Or something. They have interesting back stories but they are not interesting people -- these characters with life skills, good chemistry and a strong work ethic but no education (or interest in having one) bore me. Their parenthood dreams -- good for them, but what else?
Not a lot of career options in tiny Carnal, CO for a head buyer from a department store in Dallas, so Lexi drop-kicks all ten years of her retail experience and fast-track promotions to kill time as a minimum-wage receptionist at a hair salon that dreams of growing up to be a spa. She meets other local women there, she hears their gossip, she works five blocks from her new husband's job at the car and motorcycle garage. She goes from financially independent single woman to pretty much total dependence on her new husband. I'm not sure why she cannot be a fashion stylist, online, in her free time? Or a wardrobe consultant or buyer for local, or Aspen, women? Keep her hand in, work with her skill set, monetize it? Or run a fashion blog? I want more for her -- more ambition, more backbone, more gentle language. I want her allowed to move and talk -- his silence rule during their alone-time is . . . oppressive, and kind of a downer.

Strong, strong, strong heroes and attitude plus heroines. I'm addicted to Kristen Ashley's style. Yeah, sometimes I don't like or agree with how a character behaves -- but that's life. The storytelling keeps me hooked and there's a warmth to Ashley's writing that draws me in and makes the world a better place.

Words can't even begin to describe how much I loved this book. From the moment you meet the Hero and Heroine, it's impossible not to love them. Lexie and Ty are such a great match that it actaully makes your heart ache.

As Lex and Ty started their journey together, I knew this was going to be one of my all time favorite books. I had tears streaming down my cheeks as I felt for them, and then I was laughing so loud I had even more tears running.

This was such an emotional read that it stayed with me for days after I finished reading it...and then I read it again because I felt kind of 'empty' without these two wonderful people in my life.

Kristen Ashely opened my heart with this story and I can't wait to read more of her books!!

I am a big fan of Kristen Ashley and I've read the whole Colorado Mountain series, this is my favorite book. The hero's personality is very reminiscent of Hawk and Tack from her Dream Man series (also a must read!).

I bought this book based on other readers reviews. I guess I just don't get it. Aside from the simple story line with no complexity to the story whatsoever, I was really put off by Ty continually referring to Lexie as Bitch. Please!

Ok don't get me wrong I really like everything from this author but in Lady Luck the H and the h were not very interesting for my taste. I will give 4 stars because in the story Ashley put a glimpse of charachters of the previous book that I personally loved.

Liked this book and it was as interesting as the other Colorado books from KA, but I found myself biting my nails and getting really anxious at almost all times. So not for the faint of the heart. Lot's of cursing too. But they fit the characters and the story.

This series will be the series that I reread over and over and over again. I am only on book 3 and am already getting anxious about the end of this series. Ty and Lexie are awesome and I fell in lover with the them as they fell in lover with each other. Lord, these hot guys and how they love their women. Thank you Kristen Ashley.... thank you!!

I like all her books in this series. The people are interesting and the stories are good. However having said that she's too off color for me. I refer to her as a dirty writer. No man who loves a woman as much as these guys do uses the f-word as much as she does. These guys never make love or show much tenderness. It's always slam bam thank you mam and the f-word is flying everywhere. Believe me I'm not opposed to "that" word but she over does it.

Another powerful story from a gifted writer. Kristen Ashley has a gift that is very powerful. You feel so involved in the story that the feelings of the characters become your feelings, be it pain, anguish, frustration, lust or love. Her characters are human beings, not cartoons.

I reccomend this book to anyone that needs to "get away from it all"! Great read!

Alpha male, lots of "Babe, eyes," lots and lots of commas, lots of interrupted dialogue, phenomenal rescue, yada, yada, yada.

Read any of her series' first books and you've got the formula for all the subsequent ones in the same series.

Too bad. I really liked her style. And now I don't.

I have read previous books by this author and enjoyed them, but this one was not for me. I never felt like I could connect with the main characters, and I honestly just didn't really like Ty. I thought he was a huge jerk because of the way he talked to Lexie during their fights, and it was so annoying to me that she just took him back so easily and did not make him grovel. He barely said he was even sorry, and he said some awful things to her. I was so proud of her when it seemed like she finally grew a backbone and didn't run right to him after the last blow up, but something happens that changes the whole situation. There is a ton of detail that is not necessary. I did not need a detailed description of every inch of every room of their hotel and house. Also, there is seemingly endless conversations from characters telling first, second, and third hand accounts of events that nearly bored me to tears. I basically skimmed over the details of who said what to whom because at that point, I did not care anymore. I nearly stopped reading the book, but after about 54%, I thought things got a little better. Plus, I make a point to try to finish books I start, even if I don't love them, so that I can review them honestly. Things started slowing down for me again around 70%, and did not pick up until about 92%. This was definitely not a book that had me staying up at night to find out what was going to happen next. I was just glad when it was over. That being said, I have liked other stories from this author, so I am not opposed to reading more by her. I just didn't have any luck with this one.

Mrs. Ashley I would gladly give you 5 stars for your stories. You have some of the best hero's that I have ever had the pleasure of reading. I have gotten goose bumps, chills, and even teared up on occasion. I haven't posted any sort of review on any of your other books because its hard to put into words what emotions your stories evoke in me. Despite the wonderful story building, there are three problems that have occurred in the majority of your novels and all three make me want to throw the book away and the most frustrating part about those problems are that they aren't even needed to progress the story. One big one is politics. You throw in these underhanded comments that clearly show you have a very low opinion of anyone who is not a liberal. I am personally a centrist, so I straddle the line. I would feel exactly the same if you were the type of author who favored conservatives, which you clearly aren't.

If none of you believe me, please direct your attention to her novel "The Gamble", when Nina was discussing possibly opening up her own law firm. Ashley highly insinuated that conservatives are greedy and have no concern for anyone in need...but of course perfect, liberal Nina comes in and is the champion for all the oppressed. C'mon now, give me a break. Either party is guilty of not having the best intentions. That simple comment in that story threw me completely off. What kind of writer wants to potentially insult some of her fans? This not the only example of this in her stories. It adds nothing to the plot, just a vicious jab.

WHY OH WHY touch on race so much?? She constantly refers to her characters with their particular ethnicity. Whether their black, white, Hispanic, etc. etc. We get it all right. And Mrs. Ashley, that flows right into my problems with your dialogue. Not every person of a certain race or background talk the same but she continuously stereotypes. I don't get it. Its actually very weird a lot of the time. I constantly roll my eyes when she gets into the part of the novel when the hero/heroine is pouring their heart out and at the same time during this discussion his/her love interest is telling them to SHUT UP or STOP TALKING. How in the world is that romantic? She has done this in the majority of her novels. I over look the often unrealistic aspects of her stories because hey, their romance novels. However, I find it very difficult to ignore these issues. She needs to realize liberalism and conservatism are political ideals and are not entirely lifestyles. Not every person fits into a neat little box. Its killing me to even write this review because I love her stories but the few unnecessary/annoying parts of her stories are not recognized by her audience hardly ever. I'm not discouraging anyone not to read her novels, I just wish that these problems in my opinion weren't even an issue. I have emailed her and not surprisingly, never received a reply. This post is NOT an invitation for a political debate and for all those wondering I am mix of six different ethnicities. I'm a mutt and a centrist so hey, I'm definitely a middle ground kind of girl. I would be able to read her stuff much easier if she left out politics and stereotypes and not repeat romantic banter between the love interests. I have a bad feeling I am going to receive a lot of heat for this post because of her loyal fan base and believe it or not I am still a fan but I needed to put this out there.

I like Ty. I do. I like his appreciation for Lexie. But there are 2 things in Kristen Ashley books I cannot deal with so they color my review.

1) The amount of profanity. I get it - these are bikers and ex-cons but I can't deal with guys calling their wives "p*ssy* and "b*tches" and *c*nt* all that time. It grates on my nerves.

2) Now this drives me UP THE WALL -- the sheer amount of description in Ashley's books. Her writing is so descriptive that after she gets done describing something, I've lost the point of the description or what it was leading to. Example: I walked over, sat down, knees bent, hip arched, one hand on my hip, eyebrow raised, eyes wide, and then I looked at xyz, xyz looked at abc and abc looked at def...." and what was happening again??
And the description of the furniture and background of the crime. enough!

But all in all, her heroes are nice guys underneath it all even if my feminist haunches raise when Ty says he just throws his gym bag down anywhere because Lexie will figure it out because he buys her diamonds. um.

>Book review – Lady Luck
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 3rd in the Colorado Mountain series and ends in an HEA and the world’s best extended epilogue. Lexie is an orphan whose deceased boyfriend put her in contact with a pimp/ drug dealer. Lexie is forced by circumstances to do favors for this dealer. So far those favors are not illegal. Her newest favor is to pick up a man from prison on his first day out after 5 years. Ty was sent to prison by being set up by racist and dirty cops. The scene where Lexie meets Ty is so intense. The author describes Ty’s eyes as being dead. Ty doesn’t speak more than a few words and doesn’t realize that Lexie isn’t part of the pimp/drug dealer life.
>I love the back and forth between the chatty Lexie and the taciturn Ty. Once he realizes she doesn’t have a clue, he informs her of his plan to marry temporarily and makes it worth her while. I love the scenes where Ty and Lexie fight themselves to keep this fake marriage from becoming real. Ty’s devotion to Lexie and Lexie’s fight to help Ty get over his anger are beautiful. Some of the vocabulary is hard to understand until you read it with a certain rhythm. There are a lot of threats to the HEA of Ty and Lexie. There are also a lot of good friends willing to help.
>This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this story 5 stars. I love the realism in this story. Lexie has spending issues and Ty needs to rein her in without causing a problem. Ty has to deal with Lexie’s family visiting and does so with class. This story is such a feel good story. Both Ty and Lexie are truly unique characters that are so interesting to read about.

Lady Luck (Colorado Mountain Series Book 3)
First the bad.
There are a couple of places in the story that tend to ramble. This seems to be a Kristen Ashley trait as she loves to give great detail information about the surroundings of her characters. So even though I list it as bad, it is also good. You easily visualize the surroundings and the supporting characters in each story of hers you read.
Lexie and Ty are awesome characters and you are immediately drawn into their story. The suspense in this one is well depicted and has some great tense moments. However, I felt there were some crucial moments that were a bit rushed and other areas that could have been sped up. This is my reason for 4 instead of 5 stars.
There is loads of snark and attitude. I love the words that come out of Lexie's mouth. Here is one of my favorites. “Ty, it comes down to it, I’ll be lying to dirty cops, and everyone knows a double negative is a positive.”
There is also plenty of adult steamy romance. Lexie and Ty set the pages on fire.
It's official. I am addicted to Kristen Ashley books.

Review: LADY LUCK (Colorado Mountain Series) by Kristen Ashley
Paperback Publication Date: June 20, 2017

Rated: 5 Stars

I loved Lexie right off as I could relate to her and her inner thinking. She was a goof, but a likeable one. Ty was the typical brooding, intense alpha with a goal in mind. I liked how he changed during the story. Of course, he did something that made me mad, but then…he is a guy, and he made it right. The friends surrounding them are fun, loyal and ones I wish I had. Sexy, intense and fast-paced. I could not put it down. I’ve not read this series before, and am glad that this new release put them on my radar. If you like Kristen Ashley’s style of writing, then you’ll love this series.

Kristen Ashley has catapulted herself to being my fave author with this one. And dang it I wanna move to Colorado.

My fave book so far in the series and totally worth the .month I had to wait for the overdrive loan from the library. I'm buying this book. Why. I love the mimti dimensional, multicultural characters. Because this is the first book I have ever read with African Americans in it and i truly believe the knows some black people and has accurately portrayed them. When he called Lexie "mama" I wanted to whoop cause if that is not typical black family, I don't know what is. She tackled the racism and didn't try to sugar coat it and used it to give us a great romance. I loved it all. The way Ella was with Lexie is how my family is. No matter what you look like, if we like you you're in and you are one of ours. I also LOVED revisiting the other players from the other books and so glad Tate was back. I adored his book too.

My only complaint is sometimes I have such a hard time following the snappy dialogue and the rapid fire events and the long list of characters that I have a hard time keeping the details straight. Like now I have to go back and see how Ty knew Sam. I think I must have glossed over that part and then when he showed up and said somethings I was a little lost what he was talking about. Loved it all. Will be buying so I can always read it when I want to.

Lady luck was simply a fantastic read and it is all because of Lexie and Ty as they are simply wonderful characters.

Ty has so many male friends who have his back every step of the way in his getting justice which was great to follow. There is a male camaraderie with this story about men and their deep friendships. Throughout Lady Luck, we see time and time again how men from different walks of life help Ty.

A big part of this story is also Lexie and her finding her own home and place in life. Lexie provided humor but also some incredibly emotional moments. The first was meeting Ty’s friends in his house. The second one that made my throat constrict and eyes water was on the beach with Ty. This scene also provided my favorite quote:

“Your nightmare, mama, was my dream.”

I never liked Fuller in Sweet Dreams and I was glad to see there are some good cops in Carnal. I loved Angel Pena who was a wonderful character. All the Colorado Mountain characters band together for Ty – even Nina from The Gamble Book 1 played a part – so cool!

I look forward to reading Breathe which is Detective Chase Keaton’s story.

First of all let me just say that I am NOT one of those people that gets upset when an author writes sex scenes or uses curse words. That being said, this COULD have been a pretty great read, except that the H refers to women as B*tches and P*ssies. He grunts, he uses the F word WAY too much and often calls "his woman" over to his side like he is calling a dog to heel. The sex is often over the top raunchy and gross. H ' s life is filled with shady characters and he lives with one foot on the shady side of things. Drag racing, gambling, loaded gun. I know we live in a world where it has become increasingly popular to behave like a hood rat, but I don't think this white girl (Kristen Ashley) should have gone there. STUPID BOOK. Insults every good black man out there. hated it !!

Reading my book list it is easy to see that I am a huge Kristen Ashely fan... HUGE!!! I've ready many of her books from several of her series (excluding the Rock Chick Series, but I may get to that) and this may be my fave by far. I. Could. Not. Put. This. Book. Down. I read it in less than 24 hours... that's how good this story was.

So, what did I like?

I love that KA writes about people of color. I don't usually complain about this, because I accept it for what it is, but most romance authors write a very white washed world. I can think of two authors that I read frequently that write embracing the beauty of color that fills our world and KA is one of them.

I love that KA tells a whole, full, well-rounded, complete story (ok I know that was a redundant sentence, but stick with me). So many authors write stories that start and end fast. They fall in love fast, they work out conflict fast. KA takes her time to tell the whole story, so that by the end you sigh and cheer because it was that good. There are highs and lows and you get made and she works it all out in the end to perfection.

I love that her characters are so relatable, even if I don't know anyone like them. She has a way of making her characters three-dimensional. None of her characters seem like a cookie cutter cast.

This was a great story with tender moments, sweet moments, tense moments, thrilling moments. If you like KA's alpha males, you'll adore Ty. I loved that Lexie had a back bone and could stand her ground. Honestly, I just loved every word and page of this book to the very last.

Where to begin about the ways I loved this book...
I really don't know where to begin. The story felt like an epic one. SO much happened in the span of a few months and yet it felt like the characters (Ty and Lexi) had been working towards their HEA forever.
Ty and Lexi are thrown together by someone who owes Ty big time and at the same time has Lexi under his thumb. As the book summary says, Ty is released for prison after serving a sentence for a crime he did not commit. He is bent of vengeance and has asked a man who is indebted to him to have a woman pick him up from prison. He wants this woman to play a key role in him being able to rebuild his life. He did not expect to walk out of prison and find a beautiful, bright and honest woman waiting for him. As he takes steps to return home and continue building his dreams that were deferred because of his sentence- he finds that he has no choice but to make room in his life and his heart for Lexi. Lexi has had a lot of hard knocks in life and doesn't expect anything great to come her way. So, when she drives to California to pick up Ty from prison, she is expects to find a hardened criminal who she will have to spend a few days-at most- with. Instead, what she finds is a big, beautiful man with a good heart and a generous spirit. She decides that she wants to hold on to him. She has her work cut out of her, but Ty is worth it.

There are A LOT of fretful, anxious moments in this book. The characters both do things that will have you screaming at them to "STOP!" but they manage to get it together. I was rooting for them almost as soon as they met.

I LOVE Kristen Ashley. I am really obsessed with her books and her writing. I do think that the stories could be edited down a little, but honestly- they are great just the way the are. You can really picture the scenes in your mind and it makes the characters really come to life. I am not sure that I would be able to handle any of her Alpha male characters in real life, but gosh they are amazingly sexy in her books. And Ty is no exception. I don't mind the language or the dialogue. I get lost in her books and Lady Luck is one of my favorites. You get visits from characters from the previous Colorado Mountains books. This book has it all. Drama, humor, suspense, romance and a lot of hot sex. It's long, but I read it in 2 days (I have a full time job and 2 little kids) by getting up early, staying up late and listening to the audio version while I was in my car. I felt a little crazy, but I couldn't put it down. Get the audio version, Emma Taylor is an amazing narrator. She narrates the entire series and she moves from character to character flawlessly. Her accents (especially Nina's) are perfect.

You'll enjoy this!

This is the second book I've read from this author and while I always end up enjoying them, they're just really long and seem to take such a twisted path to get to where they're going that I wonder if it's worth it. I mean, if I want romance, there's a billion books out there that are short and sweet that I can plow through in a day. This book isn't short or sweet; it's long and sexy and dangerous. Honestly, I enjoyed the first book I read by this author more because it was a little more light hearted and made me smile a little more often. This one felt a little dark and rougher. I guess my final opinion is that I like this author, I always end up liking them, but while I'm in the middle of them, I'm just wanting the pacing a little faster and a little more editing so that the story is there, but not all the extras that clog up the book.

Lady Luck was a different read to KA’s normal romance books because she covered race issues with Ty as her leading alpha male. At the beginning of the story Ty is all action and no speak as soon as he leaves the prison gates behind, he keeps you guessing as to what his plans are and how Lexi will adapt to her situation as she finds herself dragged into his life. Imprisoned for a crime Ty didn’t commit his goal is to find those who set him up and extract revenge. Lexi and Ty together were sexy and there are some serious hot scenes in this book. I loved how Ty was broody, intense and possessive but at the same time he was sweet and attentive to Lexi. They were perfect together and the secondary characters were hilarious, I loved the epilogue it was beautiful. The story was a rollercoaster of emotions, suspense, crime, love, passion and showed the colour of your skin had no place when it came to loving someone.

This was an addicting story and I had a hard time putting it down. Loved it!

Lexie and Ty were fantastic characters. I liked all their layers and depth. From their first meeting I was pulled in, watching everything develop and had a million questions. This was entertaining and fun as well and intense and drama filled. It was also really sweet and sexy with lots of hotness mixed in. Such a great read! It had really good development and build while everything unfolded.

I loved that other characters from this series were involved and I thought they were woven in well. It helps to make for a full, rich, detailed story. I also enjoyed getting to meet new characters and love the dynamic they all create together by the end.

Ty and Lexie's relationship had its ups and downs but I loved it all. She's full of sass and I loved her attitude. Ty had a quiet and powerful demeanor that was extremely hot and protective. I enjoyed the secondary story that was at play that had to do Ty and Lexi's past. There was a lot going on with several different players and it made it exciting to read. It was just all awesome!

Great ending. Loved the epilogue. All my millions of questions were answered and I was left happy and smiling and a bit teary eyed. Well written and developed. I can't say enough good things about KA. She's got a writing style that really pulls me in and makes the real world around me fade away. I'm excited to get to know Chase more in the next book Breathe.

4.5 stars

Well this definitely took a bit of a darker turn. While there was a killer in the previous book and the craziest of exes, the main characters themselves were good people and with a clear past. Now not so much as Lexie's ex was a pimp and she's now on an errand for a drug dealer picking up Ty from prison. He's been in jail for five years, for a murder he didn't commit. Can you smell the drama?

Now don't get me wrong, these two main characters are also clean, they are just more connected to bad stuff. Lexie always tried to pull her ex out of that life, but in the end she wasn't able to. Because of her ex, she's now unfortunately connected to some unfortunate characters that can bring down her life, so she does small innocent tasks to keep them off her back until she can escape. This includes picking up Ty, though she had no idea that the piece of hunkalicious wouldn't let her go that easily.

Ty, being in jail for five years, has had a lot of time to figure out a way to get revenge on the people who've put him there. With a single minded focus this might actually get him into more trouble. Meeting Lexie is a present send from heaven. She fits very nicely in his plans and in his arms. Together they start a journey to his home and to build a life together.

The better they get to know each other, the harder it gets for Lexie to keep her distance. She's afraid his need for revenge will destroy and devises her own plan to help him. Everyone knows Ty didn't do the crime, so there are a lot of people willing to help him out. Ty hasn't been the only victim, though might have lost the most.

Lexie is awesome, it's as simple as that. She hasn't had the best of luck, still she stays so positive and is a total goof. Also she never really gives on hope that one day she will find her luck, so when things go well between her and Ty she believes in them. Lexie knows and fully realizes things haven't been easy for Ty at all and the injustice done to him, but she's here now and stands by his side no matter what. The girl is loyal, protective, sweet, smart, goofy and has some some serious sass. She couldn't be more perfect for Ty.

Ty is actually a good guy. The only reason he got framed was because he rubbed someone the wrong way and because he's half African American. Now I don't deal well with racism, so I was definitely very caught up in this injustice and therefor my hatred for some characters was very well grounded. It sickens me that in this day and age skin color can still be such a big issue. His search for vengeance isn't healthy, but I do believe he deserves justice. For five years though that has been his only thought, but when Lexie enters his life that focus slowly changes. He never thought life could get much better. When he's not all he-man and speaking in one syllable words, Ty is pretty sweet. He likes to spoil his girl and does those little things that will make you swoon.

So once again plenty of romance and sexy time, with even more mystery and political intrigue. Small town definitely doesn't mean small crimes. I love that combination of romance and suspense. Whenever I think I've figured out what is going to happen next, I really don't have a clue it seems. It's all so well thought out and intricately woven, it's simply brilliant.

I was up all night finishing this book. She depicts so well the characters of certain men and women who march to a different drummer. I've known people exactly like Lexie and Ty.

Ms. Ashley knows and understands those who come from a different level of society. Those who have known loss and consequences out of their control.

The story was binding...I started yesterday morning and didn't stop until I reached the last page. I had to find out what happened to Ty and how they resolved the dirty cop situation.

Well written at a good pace. Cannot wait for the fourth book in the series.

RE-RE-READING - I love this book. It is #3 in Kristen Ashley's Colorado Men series.
It is about Ty Walker and his wife, Lexie. Ty is half African American and half Caucasian with parents who don't give a hoot. Lexie was born addicted to crack and never knew her parents who are dead. She has no family except her BFF and the mother and sister of same.
It is a story of them meeting, marrying, and clearing his name. I like that the two of them overcome challenges in their lives and are good people.
He is a licensed mechanic and makes good money. Or as it's called in the series, "cake." She works as a receptionist at a beauty salon. They drink beer and the occasional mixed drink but are not alcoholics. They don't smoke. They are solid blue collar workers with good ethics and a supportive, loving group of friends.
The best part is that he is exonerated and the dirty police force in their small town is cleaned out as well as dirty cops in LA and Dallas. Well written and fast moving. I was up all night reading, slept until 4:00 p.m. and am 84% through the book. It has 535 pages and there isn't a one I skipped over...well except for the descriptive paragraphs about them having sex.'

Lexie Berry has never had the best of luck, orphaned at an early age she had a rough childhood and her boyfriend was murdered. She is bound and determined to change her luck trying to save enough money to get out from under her dead boyfriend's friend who keeps calling for "favors". She has to make good on her last promise and that is to pick up Ty Walker from prison and take him where ever he wants to go. Ty Walker just spent five years of his life in prison for something he didn't do and he plans on setting things right with his plan of vengeance. After a things become heated between Lexie and Ty, Lexie wants to stop him from his plan and show him how good things could be.

Ty and Lexie's story had me furious, laughing, crying and jumping for joy as only Kristen Ashley and her characters can. I must say she sure knows how to twist a tale so beautifully and keeps the reader entranced until the very last phrase THE END!. Ty and Lexie are one of my favorite couples *has if I could choose really* they are both strong despite their backgrounds, they both know what they think they want and despite all odds are determined to come out on the other end better. I have yet to come across a Kristen Ashley book I haven't adored and fallen in love with.

I'm so torn about this review. I love the POTENTIAL of this book, the underlying story of these two people who have had a hard life and find each other. I love the suspense and the romance, even the sex was good... but it gets SO LOST in all the crude language and overly descriptive descriptions. More than anything, I'm offended by how Ms. Ashley finds it okay for women to be referred to as 'p*ssy' soooooooo many times. I read a ton of erotica and have never...ever... been put off by foul language, until this book. It's beyond ridiculous and I deeply hope men don't read it and think a normal, free thinking woman would be turned on or even tolerate such language, or would enjoy being referred to, often, as a c*nt.

I also found the descriptions cumbersome. If I were reading the book, I could skip over them but as I was listening, I was forced to sit through every minute moment of the character's life... taking their phone from their pocket, opening it, typing in a number, pushing the send button, putting the phone to their ear, listening to the ring and finally talking. Really? How about... He called Tate. Voila. Same message without the agony of the, extremely repetitive, details on how to use a phone. Or open a door. Or put on clothes. Or take off clothes. Or... I'm screaming in my head just thinking about it.

With all that said, I'm on the fence about getting the next book in the series. Maybe down the road, after I've listened to something more action packed, I'll be ready to slow back down. Maybe.

The basic plot is good and I enjoyed the audio. Some people have complained about the graphic language but I don't mind it. It's not unlike similar stories. What I did have an issue with was the writing of a biracial protagonist. Between the narrator's bad blaccent, the dialogue of how KA thinks black (or biracial, which apparently is the same to her) characters sound, and "urban" lingo, I really had to make an effort to keep listening because the basic plot of a wrongly accused ex-con was interesting but so much ughhhh every time I heard "Yo" or "bitches". Good story but KA shouldn't write characters she's not familiar with. Not all black men sound like they're from a John Singleton film or low rate rap video. Not even black ex-cons. The narrator even makes an issue of black people with Hispanic last names. Obviously not familiar with Afro-Latino Americans or the Latinx community (quick lesson: you can be both black and Hispanic). Ruins an otherwise decent story.

TLDR: Good plot and characters. Try not to flinch too much when you hear the stereotypical vernacular or the constant reference to the H's race or skin color, and try to carry on.

My Thoughts:

Wow, Lady Luck, by Kristen Ashley, absolutely blew me away! I have been falling madly in love with the Colorado Mountain Series, but this story was my absolute favorite! Words cannot possibly do justice or explain how much I loved this story, but I'm going to try my absolute best.

In Lady Luck, we get Ty and Lexi's story. Ty grew up in the small Colorado Mountain Town of Carnal. He had a dysfunctional childhood, with an alcoholic father, and abusive mother. His mother Reece, was a white woman, and his father, Irving "Irv", was a black man. Unfortunately, due to the color of his skin, Ty was forced to endure harassment from the corrupt police department of Carnal. His whole life changed, when he was set up for a murder that he didn't commit, by Arnie Fuller, a powerful and corrupt man that ran the C.P.D. Ty was locked away in a prison for five years, where thoughts of revenge consumed him. He made a good friend, Julius, who became like a brother to him.

Ty's luck changed when he met Lexie. Luck had never been on Lexi's side. She grew up as an orphan, and the man she fell in love with, Ronnie, became involved in pimping girls and brought a very dangerous man, Duane "Shift" Martinez in to her life. The only good thing that ever came from being with Ronnie was his family. His mother Ella, and sister's Honey, and Bessie, became precious to Lexie, and she considered them her family.

Unfortunately, Shift, wanted Lexie under his control, and forced his agenda on to her. She was very fearful of Shift, and rightfully so. When Shift sends Lexie to pick up, Ty, a man from prison that she knows nothing about, he only tells her to follow Ty's instructions. Shift owes Ty a large debt, and hasn't been truthful to Lexie. Ty needs a wife, and he wants Lexie to be his. When Ty meets Lexie, he is highly attracted to her, and he loves that she is a classy woman. He offers her fifty Thousand dollars to marry him, and tells her she can get out of the marriage, as soon as his business is taken care of.

However, Lady Luck, has other plans for Ty and Lexie. These two haven't had the best of luck in their lives, but everything is about to change. When Ty gets to know Lexi, she gives him something he never knew he wanted, a home. Ty brings Lexi passion, loyalty, and most importantly, a place to belong. These two find romance, and love, but in order to keep it, they have to deal with many dangerous obstacles in their path, and people, that aren't ready to let them live their lives in peace.

I loved Lady Luck for so many reasons. For one, I was completely hooked from the very first page. There was a tremendous amount of suspense in this story, and I had to see how it all played out! There were a ton of plot twists, and the feeling of danger and foreboding, grew with the story. Lexi and Ty's characters came to life. They felt like real people with a real story to tell. I was so excited to have previous characters from books one and two in this series. My favorites being Tate Jackson, Lorie, and Wood. I was also introduced to many new characters, and loved getting to know all of them, but Julius and Detective Angel Pena were the two that I fell in love with. The passion between Ty and Lexi was so intense. These two could never get enough of each other, and while the sex scenes were very steamy, it was the emotion, loyalty, and sense of home that they felt for one another, that made me love this story with all of my heart!

My Rating:

If I could, I would give Lady Luck, by Kristen Ashley, 5 million stars! I loved this book so much. It touched me deeply. I could't put it down, and fell in love with Ty and Lexie. I give, Lady Luck, 5+ Suspenseful, Dangerous, Fiery Passion, "Finding a home" filled Stars! Read the Colorado Mountain Series! It has it all; passion, romance, love, suspense, danger, unforgettable characters, and a beautiful setting!

Like things could really get any stranger in a town called Carnal… Lexie and Ty are just another one of those things and you know stranger things have happened…

Lexie is doing her deceased boyfriend’s brother a solid. She needs to get out from under his thumb but it’s safer this way to help when he asks. He doesn’t ask for more than he knows she is willing to give, but how much is she willing to sacrifice for this guy? Apparently a lot more than I would have expected.

She is told to pick someone up from the state penitentiary. This is all she really knows. Ty Walker is going to be release. She is to pick him up and he will give her the rest of her instructions. How much trouble could this possibly cause? Well ending up in Vegas and getting married certainly is just the tip of the ice berg. The pages just explode in this book!

Getting married in Vegas is the easiest thing that happens in this book. It is an opportunity that Lexie can’t pass up and one Ty is committed to following through on. But the events that happen after that are just crazy. Lexie suddenly finds herself in a new town, in a new state, starting her life with pretty much a complete stranger and a convict. But for Ty this new relationship is only part of the plan. He is determined to clear his name from a crime he didn’t commit, but part of this is taking down the town’s least trusted police department. But not everyone in the police department are going to be an issue.

Can Ty and Lexie actually form a relationship worth hanging on to while Ty works to clear his name? Can they really have a relationship with all of the other things hanging over their heads? Corrupted cops, shady characters, even shadier situations make this story and edge of your seat read.

Now the downside to this book for me was the length. I couldn’t just sit and devour this one in one night. So that made it a little more difficult of a read for me, but it also means that between my job and my family, it absolutely consumed it. I just wanted to keep reading because I wanted to know what was going to happen next. That makes a full time job difficult, but it made this book worth each an every moment!

Kristen Ashley takes two more people into the heart of Carnal, Colorado and twists in intrigue and mystery and of course a completely new situation filled with suspense and drama. She mixes in the hot romance and it makes this book very hard to put down! It is well written and definitely kept me on my toes.

I'm not getting in-depth here. I've now officially been accused of being a review 'spoiler' and heaven forbid I do that again - okay so I won't do it again today but tomorrow is another day and another review........

This book was simply wonderful.
I loved Ty.
I loved Lexie.
I loved the town and it's peeps.

Drama? Oh yeah.
Mystery? Of course!
Hot stuff? We're talking Ty and Lexie here and there was plenty of heated/sizzling moments. Keep in mind that Ty was wrongfully put into prison for five years and the man has lots of pent up ...... testosterone. In Lexie he's met his match in that department and together they are 'da bomb'.
Funny? YUP.
Angst? Must you ask? YES, indeedy.

My favorite part.....imagining Ty being able to 'fold' himself into that car of his. Kristen Ashley makes anything possible and believable!

I adored this addition to the Colorado series. I'm now onto the last of the series (Breathe). Sadly....another fine KA series I'll have read myself through and that makes one less series to savor. That'll leave the 'Burg series to go so all is good in this reader's plans for reading all that is Kristen Ashley. Also: l have RAID, as well and am savoring the anticipation of that recent release (book three of the Unfinished Heros series). Adding to that I'll be reading the first book of the Chaos series (Own The Wind). Book two in the Chaos series (Fire Inside) will be out June 4, 2013 ......... meaning the KA novels just keep coming. It's raining Kristen Ashley books and this reader has no plans for an umbrella, anytime soon. You wouldn't believe the pile of Kindle books that are piling up whilst I read Kristen's books.

Kristen Ashley books aren't books that are soon forgotten and in fact, they become 'keepers' that the reader will revisit again and again.

This is a fabulous story and I'd recommend it highly.

Another fantastic story by Kristen Ashley! She is has a real talent for weaving a beautiful love story but also having a very strong background/alternate story. It keeps you interested, sucks you in deeper, and often has your pulse racing.

She has once again created a swoon-worthy leading male character in Ty. He’s hot enough to melt your panties and sweet enough to melt your heart. There’s something about when a big, strong, burly man is tender and sweet. Holy heart palpitations.

And, as usual, the leading lady, Lexie, is a sassy, strong, independent woman. That’s one of my favorite things. I’m not a fan of a woman who is a weak damsel needing to be rescued. No. Stand on your own two feet woman! You know, “I am woman, hear me roar” and all that jazz. Lexie roars and she does it often.

Ty Walker has lost 5 years of his life behind bars for a crime he didn’t commit, but the first person he sees when he is released is Lexie Berry and before long he begins to think that 5 years was a price worth paying for leading him to her. When he returns to his hometown to reclaim his life and move on, he’s surrounded by dirty cops who would love nothing more than to put him away again.

This is a story of revenge, redemption, adventure, mystery, friendship, and, of course, love. And it’s a story, like every other Kristen Ashley book I’ve read, that you don’t want to miss.

*I gave this audiobook an A+ for the narration and A- for the story at AudioGals*

Narrated by Emma Taylor

Kristen Ashley delivers another romantic, suspenseful, and funny story in Lady Luck. I may have come late to the Kristen Ashley fan club, but I have quickly learned that if you are looking for an incredibly well developed, highly original, and deeply entertaining romance, then you can always count on Ms. Ashley. Lady Luck is no exception. In fact, I’d say, at well over twenty-two hours of audio, if anything, it’s a super buy for just one listening credit. In that regard, I counted at least two places where this book could have easily been split into a multi-volume story, but rather than making you pay extra, you get it all in one book. As if that weren’t enough, the narration by Emma Taylor is fantastic!

Of all the KA books I've read of late she does not disappoint. This was another stellar book with a hero and heroine who are likeable, tough and very much in love. Lexie has class and grit. She always has her family and man's back despite the circumstances. She is loyal, kind, and savvy to a fault. This book has a great plot in the mountain town of Carnal, CO, with a bunch of dirty and racist cops who need to be removed. Ty was falsely accused of a crime he did not commit and is determined to get revenge and clear his name. Lexie supports his mission because she is also hoping to get loose from a pimp and overall loser. They agree to work together but fall intensely in love. Although I have to re-read the dialogue at time to follow the story, I so enjoy her style of writing. It is so hip, cool, and street slang. Also her characters are so real life and relatable. They are not perfect, millionaires but good everyday people you might find in any small town USA. She is such a great writer and I love how she fully develops her characters and the relationship. They get to know each other and grow closer over time and events happening to move them closer or apart. Again I highly recommend Lady Luck and the Colorado Mountain series. The main characters and friends are the best! You get revisit with Tate and Lauren and meet Chase in the next book. I think I'm addicted to her books. Download or buy the paperback because you will not be disappointed.

Lady Luck hasn’t shined down on Ty for a long time - he’s just spent five years in prison for a crime he did not commit and has plans for vengeance. But things are about to change. He comes out to Lexie, who’s been sent to pick him up from jail. She's spent a lifetime being on the wrong side of Lady Luck herself. She doesn't know what Ty needs, but she's learning that when Lady Luck brings a man like Ty to you, you hang on tight and enjoy the ride.

The Good, The Bad and Everything In Between
This was a re-read, and as before, Lexie makes the book for me. The story is told in split POV, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Lexie’s head. She’s gone through a lot, but she still believes in love, and will do anything to protect it. Ty drove me nuts with the way he treated Lexie in the beginning, but considering the way he was framed, his trust issues are understandable and he more than makes up for it by the end. Getting to see the characters from the earlier books factor into the story but not overwhelm it, was fun.

The Bottom Line
Lexie is one of my favorite KA heroines, and with this re-read, I’ve learned to appreciate Ty more than I did before. Loved it, recommend it.

Lady Luck is the book my KA expert friends have been waiting for me to read....pretty much since the day we became friends. To say that Erin and Cindy love Ty Walker is a massive understatement. He is the standard they hold all other book men to, and though he's not an obvious choice, I can totally see why.

So, I went into Lady Luck super excited, ready for another epic story of love and lust, suspense and redemption. This a story of a wrongfully convicted man who leaves prison dead set on revenge, but walks out to a miracle. A story of a woman who sets out to fulfill an obligation, but finds a forever love with an unlikely hero. Ty and Lexie were ridiculous. I loved them so hard. These two became a team, impenetrable, unbreakable. I am totally Team Walker.

Besides the amazing that is Ty and Lexie, Lady Luck has all the fabulous pieces that make the Colorado Mountain series a favorite. We get the hot, strong and (really) silent dude in Ty. We have another spirited, strong, and funny heroine in Lexie. Their relationship is intense and heartwarming. The residents of Carnal play a huge part in the story, particularly my lover Tate. We even get treat of Max and Nina! What's also cool is certain seemingly small bits from Sweet Dreams wind up playing heavily into this story, proving that Kristen Ashley is always going to surprise her readers in the best ways possible.

Lady Luck is another wickedly awesome book in the Colorado Mountain series. This book and series delivers everything I've come to know, expect, and love from a Kristen Ashley novel. These books make me laugh, cry (in both sadness and joy) and clutch my heart at every breathtaking moment.

Number 3 in the Colorado Mountain Series did not disappoint. The story of Lexi Berry, a 34 year old woman who feels Lady Luck has never been on her side and Ty Walker, a 36 year old half black/half white man who has been convicted of a crime that he did not commit. Lexi is coerced into being the one to pick Ty up when he is released from jail and take him to wherever he wants to go. There's a catch that Lexi was not informed of and she has to marry Ty as well as take him to his destination. Despite her difficult upbringing Lexi has managed to remain compassionate and still reaching for happiness even when things keep happening that would make most people jaded and bitter. Ty on the other hand has hardened and doesn't have the patience, will, or interest in being open with anyone, let alone a woman that a pimp and drug dealer named "Shift" has sent to drive him cross country. Lexi "throws sass" and still manages to be likable while Ty a.k.a. "Mr. Humongo" has to learn how to be a little receptive to caring for and trusting Lexi. I enjoyed this installment in the series and I'm looking forward to book 4.

Ah....the Colorado Mountain Series. I love this series. It was actually the first series I read of Kristen Ashley's. I started with Max & Nina's story The Gamble. So by the time I got to this one, the third in the series, I was already well introduced to the town of Carnal. This is my favorite of the four books. Now let me tell you why.

Ty Walker. He is without a doubt one of the premier men in the KA Alpha collection! Gorgeous, quiet, kind, dominant, sexy as hell. Ty has had a bit of bad luck for the last 5 years. He was framed for a crime he didn't commit. I felt for him, being a man who was framed due to the color of his skin, and his ability to win at poker. But Ty is amazing for other reasons too. He is without a doubt closed off and guarded, but in the way KA writes him, she still manages to make him seem amazingly compassionate and deep. Someone who isn't just about vengeance but about putting his life back together and allowing himself to love and be loved in return. Enter Lexie.

Lexie Berry is fantastic. She is a bright light (something Ty refers to a lot) in a dark world. She comes with her own demons and her own insecurities, but somehow is able (almost immediately with Ty) to let love in. She takes a huge gamble on a man she really doesn't know and just goes with how she feels. All heart and soul with this girl, there is no in between. She is a bit goofy and a bit girly, but she is delightful and fun all around. The way she loves Ty makes her one of my favorite KA heroines.

When I read Lady Luck the first time, I immediately was so immersed into the story that I couldn't put it down. I found I loved the interaction between Ty & Lexie, that even when they were fighting with each other, I could sense that at the end of all of this there would be a happily ever after vibe. Ty can, without question, be a complete and utter ass. He hurts Lexie more than once and at times I wanted to choke him out. And Lexie can be a bit over sensitive. She knows what she is dealing with and I think sometimes expects more from Ty than she should. But true love always prevails! This was no exception.

There is a lot of story in the book, and you see friends and allies come together and help clear Ty's name, which is totally awesome. You see them embrace Lexie and we see both main characters forgive their pasts to move forward. Let me just say though, the cops in this story (not all of them) are complete jerks! I really did love this book. And Kristen Ashley has announced a 5th book coming to the series sometime this year! Can't wait to read it!

This was a great story! I really loved Ty and Lexie, they're such a great pair that I was rooting for them from pretty much the beginning.

Lexie is a great female lead. I think she ties Lauren (from Sweet Dreams) for my favorite KA leading lady so far. She's sweet, sassy and a total goof...a very fun leading lady. Her humor and sweetness are even more surprising when you find out the bad that's plagued her most of her life. One of the bad things in her life was an unfortunate and unwanted relationship to a bad guy named Shift. In an interest of staying on his good side Lexie agreed to do him a favor, which she believes is picking a guy up from prison and taking him where he wants to go. This is how she meets Ty and it ends up there's a little more to the arrangement than just a ride.

Ty is a cool leading man and I thought he was great. It didn't hurt that I've heard KA said she pictured Ty looking like Dwayne Johnson so I had that picture in my mind throughout the story. :D Ty's been through a lot in his life, the most recent of which was being falsely imprisoned for 5 years. At first he's very closed up and doesn't trust easily which is understandable. He arranges for some help once he gets out of prison and through this ends up meeting Lexie. He manages to get her to agree to an arrangement where she'll stay with him and help him with his plans.

Although they start out as business, pretty soon Ty and Lexie are starting to feel things for each other. Ty has the hardest time with this because of his trust issues but it's really cool to see Lexie pull him out of his shell and Ty start to open up and live again. Unfortunately Ty suffers from a couple of bouts of relationship idiocy and things aren't always smooth but KA did a great job growing their relationship and dealing with both of their demons from the past. Once they got on the same page I really loved the couple that Ty and Lexie became.

There is a secondary plot line with the work that's being done trying to clear Ty's name and issues with dirty cops that don't want to truth to come out. Very cool (if a bit traumatic) end to the story and it sets up for the next book so I'll be reading that right away. :D

Great story with a great couple. I love the whole series. I"ll be rereading this in the future. I"d recommend it. 2 thumbs up! :D

Ok, so I love Kristen Ashley and this series. And one of the biggest thing that I like about the heroes is that they are Alpha without being disrespectful. So Ty having went through what he went through, and based on what he knew about women I can see why he would use the words he did to refer to women. However, even when Lexie proved herself over and over he still was calling her *pussy* and other names. Also the one thing I like about the other heroes is that they appreciated the women voicing their opinions, unless it put them in danger. With Ty it seemed like he could see why she felt the way she did, but because that's wasn't his logic, she needed to get over it. Even when she was mad on his behalf he would tell her to "shut it", but it ok because she knew that he knew she was cute. Also the other heroes helped their women to heal by healping that woman to realize her self worth, and I didn't get that from Ty and Lexie. The book was so long that I ended up skimming from halfway through the book until the end. Also I am a black woman, and my grandad doesn't even call his gf "momma", let only this generation. And my family is really multiracial, So I don't know if that was a Colorado Mountain man thing. So that's not to say I won't be reading anymore books, this one just didn't make the grade. And it was a disappointment because I had such high hopes for it.

Well, this is the third in the Colorado Mountain series and I think Lexie was my favourite heroine of the series. She's open, engaging, a total goof and totally adorable.

She's had an unlucky life which leads her to the point where she's picking someone up from prison that she's never met before on his release. This is Ty, imprisoned for 5 years for a crime he didn't commit, a man who's had an unlucky life. This one got totally hooked me right from the get-go - I read the first half without putting the book down. I was totally absorbed.

This books just gets a 4 star from me because I didn't totally love Ty - he was absolutely horrible to Lexie more than once and treated her like trash even though she'd done nothing to deserve it. Of course, he sees the error of his ways and they are eventually reconciled but I'm not sure that Ty really deserved Lexie although he did see her value eventually and then treated her better. I hated his nickname for her though.

In fact, the love story is resolved fairly early on and the rest of the novel revolves around Ty's false conviction, dirty cops and revenge.

I was intrigued by Chace and Faye and am looking forward to their story.

It saddens me that Ty is not a real man and I cannot have him :(
Lexie and Ty are total opposites at least that what you think at the begging of the book. Ex Con meet pretty law abiding girl. Thrust together by a third party Lexie goes along for the wild ride that is Ty Walker. This is story to teach you NEVER judge a book by its cover.

The books in this series are terrific. the writing is amazing and even though it is 600+ pages, it does not feel that way. i stayed up late to finish it because I couldn't put it down. but alas i have a real life i must attend to so i too 2 days to read it. great book in a great series

OMFG I feaking LOVED this book!!! After each one in this series, I seem to fall in love with the male lead, adore the female, and get sad its over. I also have slight apprehension about starting the next because I loved the current one so much. This all turns out the same... I am so freaking amazed at how much I loved the next as much as the last. Lexie is by far my most favorite female lead EVER!!! (sorry Nina has been moved down a notch, still love ya tho!) She is seriously hilarious and so strong and freaking awesome! Ty is one hot badass! I loved them together! The story was great and I, once again, could not put it down! Ms. Ashley is a superb writer who has been blessed with an amazing talent with words. I loved how this book brought back Tate and the gang and how awesome the epilogue was. I can't wait to see whats in store with Chace and Faye!

Another KA book I have read more than once. Ty was in prison for something he didn't do for 5 years and was planning his revenge. He has plans and those plans lead him to Lexie. Lexie has had a rough life and thinks Lady Luck is not on her side as the adventure and mystery of why Ty was imprisoned unravels Lady Luck has more in store for this couple. This was another great read I like the epilogue to see what happened with other characters in the book

This series keeps getting better with each book. I love everything about this one. In fact, Ty may be an all time favorite of mine. I absolutely adore how this author can make men so totally devoted to their women and yet NOT lose their masculinity. It happens a lot in romance novels, and it just might be why this author is one of my favorite writers ever. She delivers masculine men who worship their women, and it makes for some awesome romances!

That was a really long book, but I'm not complaining because it was awesome! The writing was KA at her best. It had her signature all over it, yet, it was unique from other books of hers. I LOVED the H's endearment for his h - Mama. For some reason it made me drool. Hell, I'm hoping I can talk my man into calling me mama. Ha ha! Ty Walker has definitely become a favorite bbf. He's large and in charge! I've been looking for a book with a mechanic hero and Ty got my motor running if you know what I mean ;) LOVED Lady Luck hard!

Audio book~ It took me a bit to get used to the audio book's narrator. She's not my favorite but not bad

I found this book to be a total waste of time and money. This is the first book I have read from this author, and it will be my last. I mean, really, who wants to read a book with extreme profanity peppered in every other word? The book is just trash reading. Nothing inspiring, substantial or meaningful. Terrible book. Did not even finish it - threw it in the trash where it belonged. Save your money on this one!

This is my reread of this book. Realised I never reviewed it when I first read it. Ty & Lexie are my favourite couple from this series. So much heartache in their past and plenty of angst and feelings in their story. Love his nickname for her "mama". Such a great epilogue and the perfect HEA.

I absolutely loved this one! It was very draining and emotional and it could have ended 2 times before the final HEA. I am not complaining I love 3 HEA's. Plus another fabulous epilogue that took you out 5 years to the future.

This was such a good story, one of the best developed plot lines I have read from Kristen Ashley, that is saying a lot because I have liked so many. The main characters of this one I felt so deeply for. Ty was a silent and bitter hero, it was very hard to break into his shell. He really did have some cruel moments, but he was so matched by the heroine, Lexie. She had so much positive energy and she had a very hard past, but she brought him into her light. She wasn't argumentative or naive like some of the past h's of this series, but she was strong in a gentle way and her and Ty were rocking the house a lot in this book, it was hot and hard!

Once again this book started out of the gates really quickly. Ty had been falsely imprisoned and set up by a lot of dirty cops. He served his 5 years and waiting for him when he was released was Lexie. She was doing an errand for someone she knew, who she couldn't say no to and that errand was to take Ty where he wanted to go. Ty was a jerk, he hated all women because they were his down fall and he didn't call a woman a woman he used demeaning words and they were very harsh and he meant them. When Ty got out he was set on revenge, it consumed him which was completely understandable. I was so worried because even though Ty was hard to like at times, I adored him, I got him, and could easily forgive him for his cruel words because of how he suffered, but there were so many people in power against him and I kept waiting for the axe to drop on him again.

Once again Kristen Ashley gives you so much story that at times I was overwhelmed, but it was a total page turner. It was a really good suspense plot wrapped up in a beautiful romance. Major bonus was all the town people from the previous book, Tate, Laurie, Wood, Jim-Billy, Krystal, Bubba and even Max and Nina from The Gamble were actively involved throughout the book. This book was like the Virgin River(one of my favorite series) basically the whole town was involved like VR, but you get the added bonus of lots of scorching sex and dirty talking. Works really well for me!

LADY LUCK by Kristen Ashley.

STORY BRIEF:
Ty is half black, half white. He has a talent for poker. The police framed Ty for murder. He went to prison for five years. Shift owed Ty money. When Ty was released he asked Shift to send the money plus a woman to drive him where he wanted to go. Shift sent Lexie. This is where the story begins. When Ty learns she is not a prostitute or drug user, he offers her a deal. Marry him for a while - length to be determined. He will pay her $50,000 and provide divorce papers at the end. She agrees. Some cops are still trying to make trouble for Ty. He wants revenge for being framed. Lexie is against revenge.

REVIEWER'S OPINION:
Most of the book is a wonderful loving giving relationship between Ty and Lexie. It's a great way for a couple to act and be together. I think that is what most readers will enjoy. We also see Ty's many genuine wonderful friends and how supportive they are.

Ty makes a good living as an auto mechanic. He's a man of few words. At times it was humorous the way he didn't use verbs. At a restaurant he said to the waitress "Two" "Booth" "Back." The waitress just stared until Lexie said "Can we have a booth at the back of the restaurant?" When seated Ty said "Coffee now. Bacon, crispy, double order. Sausage links, double order..."

Lexie was orphaned at an early age. She was in love with Ronnie, a black basketball player who was murdered. Lexie is white. Ronnie's mother and sisters became Lexie's family. There's a lot of love there.

I'm ok with strong language, but the frequency was too much. It seemed every other sentence had the words f*** and s***. And the guys called their women pu*** and bi***. Bikers and ex cons may talk like that, and the author was being genuine. But what may be common in everyday usage can be overwhelming when written. That's how I felt - a bit too much.

Sometimes, I had a hard time understanding the "guy speak." For example: he played her, make it right, live raw. It took me a moment to interpret the following "She was bringing up what bought her his anger, breaking her and nearly destroying them. Do not hesitate with that s*** mama. he told her." (He meant do not keep secrets from him.) Other vague dialogue was similar to "I'm working it." Yes this is biker speak, but sometimes I wanted to know exactly what he was doing.

The first part of the book was enjoyable, but I became impatient during the last part. A lot of romances don't have enough relationship development - watching how the couple interacts. This book excels at that, but I wanted more attention to the plot, for example, Chase Keaton's father (his connections, actions, and motives) and what forced Misty to lie about Ty's alibi (who paid her or blackmailed her or what). I wanted more information about the cabin's past. I wanted more details about what was on a video tape. The author "tells" that it was disgusting and horrible, but nothing more than that. I wanted to know who the killer was, how he did it, and his motives, instead of having an unsolved murder.

The narrative mode was mixed: 1st person Lexie, 3rd person Ty and others. It worked well. I liked being in others' heads. Although my first choice would be 3rd person Lexie as well. The book is longer than normal.

DATA:
Kindle count story length: 10,638 (1,324 KB). Swearing language: strong, including religious swear words, extremely frequent use. Sexual language: strong. Number of sex scenes: 16. Setting: current day mostly Carnal, Colorado, but also California, Nevada, Texas, and Florida. Copyright: 2011. Genre: contemporary romance with some suspense, interracial.

This has to be one of my most fave books of all time. Kristen AMAZED me with this one, I know the language use puts some people off, But I still cannot figure out how a middle class white woman who now lives in England did it so well. I read all the Rock Chick series, and Liked them... but none came close or even showed a hint that Kristen could get into the head of a man, a half- Black, raised by losers, falsely imprisoned, Alpha male like Ty.. So Well! There are times I truly had trouble believing a woman wrote this, Except that she also GOT Lexie PERFECT TOO!
I loved that Kristen is doing the 2 person POV now, The 1 Person POV, to me leaves a book kind of flat. I truly liked all of the Colorado Mountain Series, Yes better than The Rock Chicks (and they are FUNNY!) But this is the best Kristen Ashley I have read and I have read a lot of hers (thank Goodness not ALL yet) I just finished reading this for the 2nd time, and it lost nothing in rereading it. Its impact was just as powerful the second time around, and its only been a few months since the first read. READ THIS, but Definitely READ THIS SERIES IN ORDER!

Lexie Berry has been alone since the death of her man Ronnie, Lexie and Ronnie had been high school sweethearts, Ronnie had a chance to play pro football but he messed up big time getting involved with drugs. Lexie had tried her best to persuade him to get back on the straight and narrow but without success. It has now been four years since Ronnie' s death and even now she was still doing his friend favours, she would really like to be off of Shifts radar, but so far the favours had been doable Shift obviously knew she had boundaries. Even so here she was waiting outside the prison gates waiting for a guy she did not know. Ty Walker has spent the past five years in prison for a crime he did not commit. Today he was being released, Shift who was a scumbag owed him, so there would be someone here to pick him up take him where he wants to go. What he had not banked on was the gorgeous leggy and very beautiful woman waiting outside the prison gates for him.
This is the second book that I have read by this author, and once again it is a real winner. Everything about this story is wonderful. The characters the locations the plot, all highly detailed but more than that this book is very well written. The two main characters Ty and Lexie are a complete joy, Ty is a real alpha male six foot six of muscle totally hot. Lexie has had a few knocks in her life but remains ever the optimist. This is an exciting fast paced read. The love scenes are really hot and passionate. This is the second book in the "Colarado Mountian Series the first book is Sweet Dreams I highly recommend both books. Just a word of warning if you are offended by bad language, beware these books contain quite a lot.

Alexa Berry has never been a favorite of Lady Luck. On the day of her birth she made the papers since she was born in a crack house. In and out of foster homes, she still worked her way to a decent job but unfortunately her late boyfriend left her under the thumb of a not so great character. As a "favor" she meets Ty Walker at the entrance to a prison on the day he gets released after being framed for a crime he did not commit. Ty wants justice and revenge and Lexi wants out. Ty makes her an offer she can't refuse. Heart break, murder, crooked cops, this story has it all. KA once again hit it out of the park.

I really wasn't sure how much I was going to like this book but I did. It was a good romance with some good drama to keep you reading but didn't take from the love story. Mild spoiler is they did have two moments where they have a huge fight but I love how they were resolved. It made you root for them. You want a book where you want the hero and heroine to win. Very good story. I know a lot of reviewers talked about the language but I felt like that was the character. You either like them or not. Same way we can't change people. We either accept or move on.

I have read the first two books in the Colorado Mountain series The Gamble and Sweet Dreams and found them to be great books. In fact I gave both of them 5 stars. They feature slightly more mature characters and very manly men. However I was hesitant to read Lady Luck, the blurb just didn't excite me like the other two books did. But friends who love Kristen Ashley really liked it so I pushed it up the tbr pile. Lady Luck follows Ty and Lexie's story. Ty has just been released from prison where he was incarcerated for a crime he did not commit. Lexie is a stranger to Ty but she is asked a drug dealing pimp friend of her dead boyfriends to pick him up and take him wherever he wants to go and Lexie agrees. This is the start to Ty and Lexie's life. At times it is wonderful and at times it is heartbreaking.

I have mentioned before that to really enjoy a Kristen Ashley book you really need to like the characters and I loved Lexie, she is light hearted and fun. Ty is a different story though. As one would assume if you have been wrongly imprisoned he is serious and intense and a man of few words. It was this lack of communication from him which turned me off Ty. Ms Ashley's alpha heroes do talk usually issuing their manly commands to their women and Ty just didn't do that and I missed it and didn't like it. I also found this book to be too long. Not a lot happened in the majority of the book, there appears to be a big ending brewing with Ty trying to clear his name but I found it to be anti-climactic. This is not my favourite Kristen Ashley book and I am going to give Lady Luck 3 stars.

As usual, Ms. Ashley has hit another winner for me - I absolutely LOVE her books and this Colorado Mountain Series is no different. She manages to make each series different as well as each book in the various series differ as well - and that is hard to do I would imagine judging from other author's books in their series.

You know those things you want to read in a romantic story? The heartaches, the angst, pain, the joy, the sweet part, the drama and all that good stuff that keeps you riveted page after page? Well, this book had that and more. It was so good, I have it my full stars!

I would have given this book four stars were it not for the author's ludicrous attempt to write dialog for the black characters. Dear Kristen there are no black or half black people on this planet who speak this way. Not even the poorest semi-literate corner drug dealer goes around routinely referring to females as "pussy". Not even the pimps are this inarticulate. And no black man under 50 calls his "woman" momma! I laughed myself silly every time Ty called Lexie "mama"
That said the plotting was intriguing and kept my attention despite the sometimes laughable attempts at so-called black speech. Next time do some social research. Better yet, stick with cultures you know.

Kristen Ashley never disappoints! She can truly write an alpha, swoon worthy man and of course Ty was all this and Lexi was super cool. Like all KA books, absolutely loved Lady Luck and look forward to the next Colorado Mountain Man!!

Hi. I'm still reading the book and I love it. This is my third book (the gamble, sweet dreams) and I love it. Let me say her books are not too long! If I (that I'm italian living in Italy speaking italian my whole day) am able to read it in few days it's because the book is well written. The plot is good, the story is amazing, the characters are all so well described they become your friends. Many things happen and you go on without speeding because you want to take that pace. Ashley is different from all other writers she has her own style which is very different and personal.I only would like to have these books also in hardcover or paperback not only kindle.Because I would like to read and re-read them...Kristen, thanks for writing them.

Lexie is one Lucky Lady.
Just finished Lady Luck, this book really tugged at my heart strings, I really loved this book.
I almost cried when Ty looked down and saw her bouquet in the trash and when he went to talk to her on the beach. "Your nightmare was my dream" love Ty. I was also glad that he didn't have some ex wife and a bunch of kids. But seriously, why does every woman in that town get kidnapped? It drives me crazy. Lady Luck was a great book with a believable story and two of the best people, Ty and Lexie.

Ms. Ashley was a self published author who recently was picked up by a publishing company for some of her works. For quite a while now KA has been an auto buy for me. I don't even have to know what the book is about before I buy, she is that good.
Lady Luck is one of my favorites. Well written, strong H/h, great plot and a page turner. I couldn't put it down.

Having now read two books from the Colorado mountain series it's safe to say I love Kristen Ashley and her mountain men. It's also safe to say they're probably not for everyone. Her books make my heart beat crazy fast, my eyes well up at many points in my reading, and smiles cross my face continuously. She likes her profanity though which may not be for all but works just fine for me given the rest of the pleasure I get. I can't wait to start the next and have already downloaded a few others not in that series.

No words... Well, maybe one... Awesome!

Ty was wrongly convicted. Lexi was vulnerable and had her back against the wall. Unfortunate circumstances brought them together, fate set them on a path, and Lady Luck guided their journey. Friends, family, and foes... celebrations, corruption, racism, love, and hate... Their story had it all. When the going got tough, Team Walker never quit!

Great story that is based in reality, although all her books need a SERIOUS editor. Outside the grammatical errors & misspellings, the plot is definitely unique with characters that make you both laugh & cry.

I seem to belong to the minority when it comes to KA's books. If Tate, the hero in Sweet Dreams went back and forth over that line (see my review here: https://www.the store.com/gp/customer-reviews/R247E9O33W2K86/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00AHFJAB8), Ty definitely went over and stayed there. Personally, unless the heroine is a female wolf shifter, there is no reason for the hero to call her the "b" word. There is nothing romantic in that.

There are other things in this story that bothered me but that was the main one.

I've read the other Colorado Mountain books leading up to this with great enthusiasm. This book I could put down easily and had to force myself to pick it back up. I kept waiting to have a connection to the characters like in her previous books. I was very disappointed and I wouldn't recommend this book. I don't think I will continue the series.

My girlfriend was reading this book and I just got curious. However, she got really upset when I showed interest in reading it after her, and now I understand why. Don't get me wrong, I had few illusions about this kind of literature and I expected this book to be crappy, but it surpassed my worst fears. I couldn't believe she hadn't found anything amiss with the book. We almost broke up.

I think anyone who likes this kind of writing should really be ashamed of themselves. Reading this was like wallowing in refuse. And this book IS utter garbage: predictable plot, extremely limited vocabulary, complete absence of imagination, retarded dialogues, ridiculous characters. What would you think of a person enjoying a porn magazine in public? Or someone exalted about this porn-star they are "really in love with"? Immature, stupid or emotionally handicapped? Well, I am afraid the same goes for the women who have written those enthusiastic reviews above and profess to be "in love with Ty".
