I liked this book ,but sentences were often jerky and difficult to understand. The characters liked to talk in circles. I had to reread long sentences just to figure out what the author was trying to say. The sheriff's dialogue was worst. Sentences were not smooth taking longer to read and bogging down your reading rhythm. He sounded ,often times, like an educated hick.
The plot was entertaining and predictable. So if you can deal with this writing style I would recommend this book.

Will I ever tire of raving about everything that Kristen Ashley writes? Likely not, because her books just get better and better - just when you think it isn’t possible. I can’t explain why everything she writes makes me feel - love, pain, heartbreak and joy. I just know I am so grateful for the first book I came across that exposed me to her gift. You will never regret soaking up everything she writes.

To say I'm speechless, is an understatement. This book had it all. Serious evil beings, sweet angels and enough suspense to keep you bound and tied.
I fell in love with the main characters. The well developed story line supported by real people. I cried withe heartbreak. Laughed with the innocent joy. Growled at the stubborn buttheaded.
I want to live in Glossop.
Thank you for the ride.

Loved this. K.A. Really takes the time to build a man and a woman--to grow a life that makes sense even when it's complicated. Beautiful story. The H and h are the kind of people you'd want to hang out with. Even their weaknesses are compelling. But this doesn't come across as perfectly good people having a perfect life. It isn't trite or overblown; it's just beautiful. A worthwhile read in a world filled with great books; I'm glad I took the time to read this one.

This story is an absolute gem! A bonified Kristen Ashley story that has suspense, angst, love and passion to real life situations any of us could say happened to us. I love KA for a lot of reasons...but mostly because she is THAT good. I highly recommdnd this book, and any of the other KA books that she has written. A "1 click" author for me!

This my first ever review,so bare with me.. I dearly love all of Kristen Ashleys work. That being said, this is my top fav..Hixon is now one of my fav BBF’s..This was a book, that the more you read the more you fall in love with it..It reminded me of when I first started reading the Burg Series..I was hoping it was going to be a new series. But the book gave no inclination of that. So, I’m still hoping! Anyway, I loved all the characters..Greta was just awesome! Loved her. Loved all the secondary characters. Lou could be my BFF as well! And Gemini. I fell in love with him too! I also loved getting the Drake kids POV. All In all this was a wonderful book of love and compassion. Classic K.A.!!

Reading Complicated allowed me to step out of my world and I to another. The subject was life and the characters became real. I felt their pain, tears, happiness, fear, everything that makes up life.

If you read to step out of your own life for awhile then read this book. The author, Kristen Ashley, creates true escape with her stories.

Never a disappointment when reading a book by this talented woman. The way she writes in such a realistic manner and makes her characters flow and grow throughout the story line is a pure work of art. I just love the multiple directions Kristen's books take you. Everything just flows so organically you can't wait to keep reading. This book isn't just a romance. The suspense portion in itself was spectacular. I recommend Kristen to all my friends who want to read something that will touch you without being unrealistic. Thank you Kristen for sharing your brilliant talent with us. Keep them coming!

to read a Kristen Ashley book. Greta is both someone you can relate to and someone you're jealous of. Hix is an alpha with communication skills. What more can you ask for? Throw in a divorce, a nasty ex, good kids, a bad mother, a tragedy, a murder, small town gossip and a happily ever after.

If you loved The Berg series, you should equally adore Complicated. It has all of the things I crave in my reads: characters that I can connect with and root for, enough drama to make things interesting, and some steamy heat. This book is well worth the time and money. Enjoy!

I love Kristen Ashley books but this one was a little flat for me. It had all the usual KA elements but missed the mark. Maybe I wasn't in the right mood, I don't know. Don't let my review make your decision for you. Lots of people loved it, I'm just not one of those.

This screamed classic KA. I really enjoyed it. Some o the drama I could have lived without but I loved the love ❤️. I love that KA makes me not only invested in the MC but now I’m hoping for every kid to get a HEA as well. And maybe even Hope.

Just to start off, never met a Kristen Ashley book I didn't like. This one I so loved. The ups and down of a couple's relationship had me crying, laughing a heavily disliking some characters. I love Great and Hix but Shaw needs a book after a few years of life.

Kristen never disappoints when she writes a book. She is my one click go to author. This book is amazing but I knew it would be. Hixon Drake and Greta Dare are perfect. A lot of bumps happen in their ride to love but it was all worth it. Amazing ride. Rock on!

What has happened? I think Kristen is now scraping the bottom of the indie trope barrel. She has fallen into the classic indie author way of writing, writing for the sake of money, not story. Sad. I will still re-read her original Rock Chick, Dream Man, and most Colorado Mountain books, because they were a fresh voice.. now she just sounds like all the other writing for money indie romance writers out there... pumping trope out month after month. This book had me rolling my eyes on the FIRST page... pity I waited too ling to be able to return for a refund. Unless you are a diehard fanatic don't waste your money.

What a journey!! Of course, it was supposed to last longer for me but how was I supposed to keep my listening pleasure to just my journeys to and from work? Obviously, when it’s a Kristen Ashley, it is impossible. So, in less than a week I have listened to 18 hours of KA goodness. A couple of trips to and from work, two baking sessions (come on…my kids love cookies) and listening while my son was at baseball training (...and ignoring all the parents). I may have baked a wee more than usual and was a little ruder and standoffish than I am normally...but it's KA!! Like I said, who could blame me? A new KA, made for audio and a new Alpha male to check out…of course I made more time.

I started Complicated and admit that I got a little thrill. It was kind of weird (well, weirder than normal). The thrill wasn’t necessarily that it was a KA, it was more to do with the fact that our hero stuffed up…BIG TIME!! Yes, I know that's strange, but there’s this little part of me that gets a kick out of seeing the big lug head stuff up, learn that he stuffed up and then suck up to get back in. Well, ladies and gentleman, Hixon Drake stuffed up, sucked up, stuffed up again, and then finally got his head screwed on and became a KA hero to make me swoon.

Hixon has just signed the papers to finalise his divorce with the woman he was married to for 19 years. He loved her and even after 12 months of separation, he’s still unsure where it all went wrong. We start Complicated with him moving on for the first time after the divorce…and…it’s pretty bloody obvious that he wasn’t as ready to move on as he thought he was.

Greta is a hairdresser by day and a part-time singer at night. She’s been divorced for a little while now and when she connects with Hixon Drake, she mistakenly thinks that it is more than physical attraction. That lesson was a tough one to face when he wham-bam, thank you Maám’s her, but she’s faced a lot of heartache and pain in her 38 years, she’s kind of used to it. Unfortunately, for a small town in Nebraska, it’s big news for the newly divorced Sheriff to sneak out of the local hairdresser's house in the middle of the night. Greta won’t be able to lick her wounds in private because everyone knows about it.

Hixon and Greta’s love story is not an easy one. In typical KA fashion, there are ups and downs, with sideswipes in-between. I admit, there were a few tears shed on the train as we see them come to blows, face blows from outside forces, and witness blows that shake the town.

Both Greta and Hixon have past loving relationships that went wrong and in some ways, their war wounds help them to move on together.

Greta’s mum is an evil woman that had me squinting and scowling more than once and Hixon’s ex is a piece of work for more than half of the story. While both have burdens to bear with their ugly relationships, they also have magic in the form of Greta’s brother Andy and Hixon’s wonderful kids.

Complicated is set in a small town where everyone knows your name. I loved the setting of the story. It’s a mostly peaceful town that is rocked by the murder of a much-loved husband and father. Tracking down the murderer is the top priority for Hixon and his deputies.

Poor Hixon, scraping off the old love, starting a new love, keeping the peace with his kids, dealing with his new loves psycho mum and finding a killer…only a KA Alpha can handle that. Greta, well she’s got to get a new man up to scratch, steer clear of his ex, deal with her psycho mum, work, and make time for her brother who suffered a head trauma when he was a teenager…only a KA sweet and slightly quirky heroine can handle that.

I loved Complicated and couldn’t stop listening. Yes, I found the male narrator’s female voice funny, but find me a male narrator doing a female voice well, and I’ll eat my hat. The female narrator has a sweet voice. I never struggled to identify when the characters changed and found their voices clear and easy to listen to. I will admit that it took a little more concentration than normal because I normally reserve my audio’s for re-reads. Obviously, as this is an audio exclusive, I haven’t read the story beforehand and couldn’t be distracted. A couple of times I had to rewind to make sure I hadn't missed important information, as life tried to distract me from my KA fix.

It’s KA, so of course, I’m a little bias, but if you like audio, enjoy a love story with an older, more experienced couple and enjoy the small town setting, this could be right up your alley. For me, I was in KA heaven.

I love audio books and so when this came out as an audio book only release from an author that Jess loves, I grabbed it. I'm so happy I did. I've discovered another amazing author!

Kristen Ashley writes long complex books where you learn about a lot of characters and focus on many plot lines. I completely enjoyed that experience. It creates this genuine feel to a book where love takes time and life happens all around you. She uses a brilliant combination of detailed scenes and summary to move the book a long over varying bursts of time. And the main story may be one couple but there is so much more going on with the story that it's natural for the book to keep going. I adore her style of writing. It's more story and less angst. It's more living and less rushing. It's more enjoyable and less (or no) setting the book down.

The characters are complex and wiggle right into your heart. Not just Hix and Greta but so many more. I love Andy so much, Shaw and the girls too. I dislike Hope and have stronger negative feelings for Greta's mom. But there's the town too. Lou and Faith touched my heart even though they are minor characters. But this author has a way of weaving a town inside the pages of the story so that you care about all of them. It's an amazing skill, really. And it could have gone on, frankly. I loved all the details that got covered but I really still want to know how things worked out for Shaw and the girls, for the town. Isn't that the test of a great story? Where you keep thinking about the characters and wish you could check in on them and just see what was new? Old friends. They've become old friends.

The story of Hex and Greta is definitely Complicated. They are both recovering from prior marriages and come with different but equally challenging problems. They each have sufficient problems to face as the story unfolds. And their story isn't just about them falling for each other but about dealing with all those complications together. It's a wonderful change from the typical romance trope. Genuine. Enjoyable. Satisfying. Oh, and of course there are hot, sexy, times including some headboard times. ;)

So if you're into audio, you want this book NOW. If you prefer reading it yourself (you will definitely miss out of the sexy voice of Lance Greenfield reading for Hix) you'll be able to grab this one in November. Both of these narrators did an amazing job. Erin Mallon does a great Greta. And I'm picky about narrators, so...

Definitely recommend this one - you want it for sure.

I have never read a kristen ashley book i didnt love. She goes into vivid detail with her characters and settings. I just did not like this audible book. I truly wish it was available to read. Disclosure - This is my first Audible experience. When it was first disclosed that Complicated would be Audible-exclusive for 6 months, I will admit I had a minor snit. I pouted. I whined a bit. I huffed. All the while, I knew I was no way in hello gonna wait 6 months for the digital copy to drop, so I was going to take the plunge. That said, I was not particularly happy about it.

Delighted - *delighted* - to say, I was WRONG. This Audible stuff is awesome. I am so happy to have this in my life now! I have gone on to purchase Mystery Man (my all-time favorite KA) and now I am working my way through the Rock Chicks, with plans to purchase all of the Audible Narration to the books I already own, which is all of them. So thank you, Audible and Ms. Ashley, for forcing the issue a bit. Gratitude.

Now, Complicated. *Swoon* Complicated is everything we love about KA plus a bag of chips. Complicated is Hix and Greta's story. Lots of depth to the characters. We get to spend a lot of time in Hix's head, which I loved. These two have had lives, Hix;s mostly good, until his manipulative ex loses her mind and all ability to communicate in an adult way, ending in their divorce. Greta's has been a lot of bad, with some good, then more bad, until she lands herself in Glossop, determined to make her own good.

Hix is still reeling from his divorce, and makes some very questionable life choices shortly after the ink dries on the decree. Unfortunately, Greta suffers for those questionable choices, but our girl rebounds quickly. Greta is determined to not be a pushover, not to Hix, not to her mother, and shows her grit repeatedly. Loved how real Greta was.

Lots of secondary characters to enjoy, as usual. Hix's deputies and his kids, Greta's friend Lou, and her customers. Assorted town folk. Each character added to the story in a meaningful way.

There is humor and heartbreak. There is intrigue and danger. There is life, and love, and connection across the board. I loved this story. I can't wait until the digital edition comes out, but until then, I can listen to my heart's content.

Back to the Audible edition for a moment. and the narrators - I liked the male narrator, Lance Greenfield, more than the female narrator, Erin Mallon. Ms. Mallon sounded like she was about to break into tears, or perhaps an epic rant, at any moment. There were times I found Mr. Greenfield's tone more lighthearted than I imagine KA Alpha's to ever sound, but overall, I liked his interpretation.

Bottom line - Loved the story. Loved the Audible experience, and so happy I have taken this leap into a new way to enjoy books. I am hooked.

Oh how I love a KA novel and 'Complicated' has been on my auto-buy list for some time. I have loved every KA book I've read and her second chance love stories are by far my favourite. Greta and Hixon's is up there with the best of them. Talk about 'complicated' - both are divorced with a tonne of baggage, this couple had everything going against it; their story isn't just about them falling for each other but about dealing with all those complications together.

This is the quintessential story of an alpha law enforcement officer with a complicated ex and kids caught in the middle. And a woman with a past of her own and the addictive yet messy romance that follows. As KA so eloquently describes.. 'It was about giving. And Hix had never had that. Not like that. Not unadulterated. Pure. It being about her getting off on giving to him even as he got off giving to her. Not once in his marriage. Not once in any relationship. He gave. He didn’t get.'

Reminiscent of many of my favourite KA books, Hix and Greta's story took me back to the Colorado Mountain series and The Burg series and like many of KA's story's, 'Complicated' follows a blooming romance amidst a criminal investigation. Set midst a small town of townsfolk who like to gossip and remind each other how important community truly is. There is the right balance of action and romance intertwined to make this a very special read. Greta sums it up best “Oh yes. I’d finally found it. Something worth fighting for. And if I had to, I was going to fight for it. Because I was falling in love with complicated.”

'Complicated' is the perfect comfort read, it just keeps getting better as you read it and I know I will be re-reading it in no time. This story is quintessential KA, you get lost in the pages, characters and the town and feel better about the simpler things in life... nothing great is ever easy after all. 5 stars all the way!! I am a verified purchaser in Australia

Confession: I'm not the most seasoned of audiobook listeners. This is mostly because I find it difficult to give one my undivided attention, which is what's usually required for me to fully follow the story (What can I say? I’m not the best multi-tasker). However, when it came to Kristen Ashley's Audible-exclusive release, Complicated, I jumped at the chance to listen to an early copy, mostly because I’m obsessed with everything she writes and I knew it would be amazing. Spoiler alert (not really): it is. I don't think I've ever concentrated so hard on something as I did listening to Complicated because I didn't want to miss a single word of this sexy, emotionally-compelling, feel-good romance.

At its heart, Complicated is a character-driven romance, chronicling the budding romance between protagonists, Hixon Drake and Greta Dare (let’s pause a moment to admire their names). In a small town where everyone knows everything about everyone else's business, it’s easy to become fodder for the rumor mill, which is exactly what happens when the local sheriff becomes intimately acquainted with the town’s hairdresser/lounge singer. The two have an explosive connection and off-the-charts chemistry, which is complicated by Hix’s newly-divorced status and compounded by Greta’s familial issues. Each new chapter seems to present a new obstacle for Hix and Greta, which is exactly what made me root for them. That, and the fact that they’re both genuinely good people who deserve a happy ending.

Complicated is told in alternating perspectives, which I absolutely loved, not just because it showcased the two narrators, who each brought a different energy to the book, but because we get ample time inside the minds of both Greta and Hix. With her painstaking attention to detail and her signature process of pouring her characters' hearts and souls onto every page of the book, Kristen Ashley is a brilliant storyteller, but Lance Greenfield and Erin Mallon add a whole other dimension to the story. There's just something about hearing Hix’s rasping, growling voice in my ear and feeling every nuance of Greta’s soft-spoken, yet arresting presence that brought both the characters and the narrative to life in front of my eyes.

Love scenes so steamy, they had me fanning my face and double checking that my headphones were firmly plugged into my phone? Complicated has them. A narrative packed with drama, romance, and intrigue? This audiobook has that too. Kristen Ashley has an unerring skill for making your heart break and then healing it full to bursting – a skill she puts to good use when telling Hix and Greta’s story. With Complicated, Kristen Ashley delivers a heart-meltingly sweet, unforgettable story about love, second chances, and new beginnings that had me riveted from start to finish.

This audiobook is good; very good! I love how Kristen Ashley wrote this story. I love Hixon and I love Greta. It was a pleasure to listen to a book about a divorced husband who was not divorced because he was abusive or a cheater.

Complicated was a story that allowed the listener to meet a guy name Hixon Drake, who loved his wife, but was lost and wondering why she divorced him. It allowed the listener to meet a great father and a man trying to navigate through a new relationship after being married for 19 years. Complicated centered around Hixon's everyday life, the up and downs, the good and bad, and this is what makes this story excellent. It was about the life that millions go through every day and we rarely notice.

It showed how devastating divorce can be on children and extended family. It showed how awkward it could be to introduce someone new into your family dynamic. It showed that people come with baggage, and that it is necessary to communicate; and sometimes that communicating can be awkward and uncomfortable.

Complicated is what I call a life story; you've got the good, the bad, ugly, and the beautiful. Life, as we all know, is complicated, and the narrators were able to deliver that message with every inflection and tone. Erin Mallon is one of my favorite narrators. Kudos and a great job!

I wasn’t sure what I was supposed to think when I found out that Kristen Ashley wrote a book exclusively for Audible. I thought it was a nice marketing strategy – but didn’t plan on buying it. And then I saw that lonely credit on my Audible balance and I thought – ok whatever. CLICK!!!!

Thank You for Shopping at Audible!!!!

Yeah, I bet you liked that!!!

Anyway, I was in the middle of listening to the latest John Sandford novel ‘Golden Prey‘, when I saw an amazing review by my friend Stacey and couldn’t push it out any longer. So, Golden Prey went on the back burner, and I was diving into COMPLICATED!!!

And OMG!!!!!
First thought I had was that it was a bit different from her regular work. It was less all over the place in regards to sentence structure, it had more dialogue, and an old school KA feel – which I loved.

The story was typically KA. Lovely alpha male, awesome dad, ex-husband of a woman who wanted him back, and who was falling heads over heels in love with a woman – even so he didn’t think it was the right time or the right woman.

It was sweet – REALLY SWEET!!!
One of those feel-good novels that leave me all gooey and glowing. Yep that was me – all gooey and glowing every time I walked to work, was out for a stroll or just sitting in my cozy chair with a cup of coffee – scratch that no coffee for me – but you get my drift.

COMPLICATED was awesome!! It was so much more than expected. And much BETTER than I thought it would be. Honestly, I was astonished by how much I LOVED it!!!

I adored the small town life in Nebraska. All the wonderful characters, the kids, the friends, and most of all Hix and Greta did it for me. Hix and Greta were the BOMB!! They were perfect for each other. They completed and complimented each other and filled places in each others lives that they didn’t even know were empty.

And the SEX – phew – wow – I was MELTING!!!! Which was not necessarily a good thing, since I was out and about, and I must have had a HUGE grin on my face. I can only hope my ear phones weren’t the ones that everyone could hear a mile coming.

All those naughty words for everyone to hear!!! YIKES!

I hated Greta’s mom – what a piece of work. That woman was like a broken record, going on and on. And NO, I for sure didn’t understand her method of parenting.

It was also hard to listen to Hix’s ex-wife trying to win him back, even so she was the one who broke their marriage in the first place. It was still sad hearing her go on and on about how much she loved him. It’s hard to be the one that is left behind. But she made her bed, so now she had to lie in it. Stupid mistakes that change lives in a second and afterwards all there is is regret. Same with Greta’s ex-husband. But that’s typical for KA – exes that regret their decisions when it’s too late!!!!

And OMG the epilogue! I think it was over 40 minutes long. Just fantastic and so sweet!!!

So, all in all I was very GLAD I used my monthly credit towards this audiobook. It was definitely worth it. And I’ll be the first one buying her next audible exclusive – if she’ll do another one that is.

3.5-4 stars

This was a pretty good story. I liked Greta very much. I liked Hix as well but he definitely had some bouts of (what I like to call) relationship dumbassedness that were aimed at Greta and detracted from my ability to like him as much...thankfully he managed to get past those moments.

Greta is a hair dresser that is a talented singer and typically sings at a local club on Friday and Saturday nights. Greta was raised by a single mother that was more concerned with partying than taking care of her kids. Greta has a younger brother, Andy, that she basically raised because her mother was incompetent and hardly ever around. Greta was married at one point but ended up getting divorced mainly because her mother's constant drama caused her husband to give up on her.

Hix is the sheriff of his town, the father of 3 kids and recently divorced. Hix grew up in Indiana and met Hope there. They fell in love and got married and when they started having kids, they decided to move to Hope's home town to raise them. They were happy for years but about a year before this book begins, Hope decided to demand a divorce from Hix but never told him what was wrong with their marriage. Hix hadn't been happy about his family getting split up but eventually he accepted it.

Greta's brother, Andy, has brain damage, existing with a limited mental capacity and behavioral issues that makes it necessary for him to live in a "home". Andy was fine until he was a teen when he made the mistake of calling home for a ride and his mother decided pick him up. Unfortunately, she was drunk and caused an accident that gave Andy permanent brain damage. Greta was then able to get guardianship over Andy but it meant that she has to come up with the money to care for him, which isn't easy. After her divorce, Greta moved to Nebraska (from Colorado) because she had a friend in Nebraska and found a home for Andy that's very nice and less expensive than what she was paying. Hix's divorce went through a couple of weeks ago and he decided to out for a drink, ending up at the bar where Greta sings. Hix picked Greta up and we enter the story on the scene following their hook-up and it wasn't a very pleasant one. Hix suffers his first bout of relationship dumbassedness at this point and I wasn't thrilled with him from the start because of it...he does get better later though. :)

One of the reasons for Hix's treatment of Greta is the impact their interaction had on him. He didn't want it to be more than a one night stand but he couldn't stop thinking about her or how much better his night with her had been over any he'd had with Hope. Hope is pretty much a spoiled little brat (or maybe a different B-word that rhymes with witch...) and when she finds out that Hix and Greta had a night together, she makes it her mission to ruin Greta. This prompts Hix to protect Greta from Hope and with more time together, Hix has a harder and harder time trying to ignore the chemistry between them. Eventually, Hix gets past this and starts pursuing Greta in earnest...even if he still makes some mistakes. Hope isn't the only issue between them though, there's also Greta's mother causing problems, Hix's kid's varying levels off acceptance about the divorce and Greta, not to mention there's a stalker and a murderer to be dealt with. So Hix and Greta have a lot on their plates and it's not perfect but they do manage to get through things well and end the story starting towards a HEA together.

This was a pretty enjoyable story. I liked Greta very much and thought she was a really good heroine. I ended up liking Hix but he had moments in the beginning that didn't make it easy. Thankfully, once he got past his bouts of relationship dumbassedness, he ended up being a good guy and hero. I really loved the way he was with his kids...his behavior with them definitely made me like him better. I liked the characters and the story was pretty good so overall, I'd recommend this book. :)

* note - I listened to the audio version of this story. There were 2 narrators, a female for the parts from Greta's PoV and a male for the parts from Hix's PoV and I think both did good jobs with the narration. Someone told me that the male narrator's version of a female voice ruined the story for them and while I don't think he had the best female voice, I don't think it was nearly that bad. Audible.com does offer a 5 minute sample of the audio so go and check it out for yourself...the male narrator is in the sample so you can see what you think for yourselves.

Like all of KA's heroes, sheriff Hix is alpha. Not as domineering nor as crude as some of her men but still plenty.
Like most KA heroines (except for a few of the Rock Chick series), Greta is humble, kind and generous. Like all of her heroine's (except some of the Rock Chicks), she has had a rough life and been mistreated and/or betrayed.
TG, Greta's self esteem is not as low as some of KA's heroines. Still, she's humble enough to feel Hix is out of her league and adore him.
KA introduced really crude language and a "me man, you woman" kind of relationship to mainstream romance more than half a dozen years ago. This approach makes heroes seem very "manly" but they are also very protective and loving.
In this story the the pair must deal with a bitch of an xwife, a murder investigation, threats to Greta, troublesome deputies, the changes of growing children and the issues of a new relationship.
What's great about KA is we always get to see the bad guys get their comeuppance, the h and H become applauded and admired, and good relationships are developed or maintained with family and friends.
But you have to be okay with a "stand by your man" kind of mentality of the h, crude language, and sex scenes which tend to be relatively raw (even some anal action in this one).

Finally finished this LONG ASS audio book.

I will start by saying, if you love KA - this is her usual formula and an enjoyable story. If you are new to her, you may love it due to the many side plots and characters ... makes it intriguing.

If you are a long time reader of KA then it will feel like more the same. More over descriptive of rooms, and people and clothes.

Now, my review is completely on the listening to Audio book so the things that bothered me could probably be skimmed if I was reading it and maybe I would have not been UGGGGHHH by it.

BUGS:

- The voice for Greta sounds like she is on the verge of tears about 76% of the story.
- Hix is the same dude from many books: single dad with many kids and a ANNOYING or cray cray ex-wife
- The REASON for Hix wife leaving/kicking him out was beyond stupid. As a married person who often hates her spouse (lol) and is close to 40 .. I almost laughed. Come the eff on.
- The attack on Greta. Was that really the reason Hix decides to be with her?
- The deputies lives being part of the story. It wasn't needed. I didn't care.
- The "solving" of the murder. Like what, it was told so oddly IMO. I felt it was flat and after so much details for it to be POOF. Solved. Over.
- Lastly, the ex-husband ... who had moved on with another woman ... to return and CLAIM her. It was not realistic at all!!!

LOVES:

- The entire Andy story. I loved the love between brother and sister. The care and all that Greta did to be his Mom.
- The kids. I thought they were written well. I think it was real that not all 3 would be on the same page.
- Greta's bestie Lou
- While the Mom story line was ROUGH - it was needed to understand Greta.

I love Epilogues so I was glad this had one .. was an awesome one. Not really. Was it sweet. Yes.

Complicated was definitely full of many different scenarios in life that make you ask if they are worth the risk.

Whilst not my favourite story by this author, it was still enjoyable.  My favourite parts involved Hix's children along with Andy and Greta who was simply beautiful.

I admit I struggled to connect with Hix.  It was probably his first few interactions with Greta that shattered me.  I kept waiting for him to do it again however after Greta's incident in her kitchen well he began to grow on me slowly.

One character Hope was simply childish and a pain in this story. She simply created so much drama it just wore me down.

Greta's ex-husband was a character that I would have loved to have seen more of.  He would have filled in more gaps for Greta and my understanding of how she ticked.  It was not until she spoke of Andy and her life growing up that her desire for no children made sense.

My main complaint in this story is actually about Greta and her mother.  As their final moments as mother and daughter were being played out it left me unfulfilled and still upset.   Not making entire sense was the murder story. Perhaps if it was somehow linked to other characters in this story and not the way it was portrayed it would have made sense.

Finally, I was praying for a life-changing moment for Greta to happen to give her a wonderful complication but alas no.

Quote:  I'd finally found it. Something worth fighting for. And if I had to, I was going to fight for it. Because I was falling in love with complicated.

Complicated is an Audio only book for the first 6 months. I'm not a massive fan of audiobooks but as this is Kristen Ashley, there was no way I was waiting 6 months to get my hands on it.

The audiobook, at normal pace is just over 18 hours which was quite daunting first going in but I thought with it being that long, a lot must happen. I'm a quick reader and I will admit that when things get a bit too description-y, I do skim (I don't really need to know the colour of the curtains etc.) but with it being audiobook I wasn't able to do this.

The plot of the book was good and I thought I was getting a classic KA story; the love story mixed in with a murder, catching the killer etc. but the suspense wasn't there. The murder part of the story was really underplayed and by the end of the book it was just in the background. I found it disappointing when the killer was found and the reason behind the killing came to light... it just felt like a massive let down.

I loved the characters and the relationship between the H and the h but other than drama with the H's ex wife, not a lot really happened.

I love romance books but I do need something else as well as a love story. This is why I usually enjoy Ms Ashley's books so much; they usually have so much going on but unfortunately, I just didn't get that with this one.

I will say that I don't know if my review would be different if I read the book instead of listening to it, I think possibly I would have enjoyed it a bit more because I would have been in control of what I was reading and how quickly I was reading it but the story overall, for me was not as great as I have come to expect of Ms Ashley. It wasn't bad but it just didn't have that KA spark to it that kept me on tenterhooks or leave me with the post Kristen Ashley happy bubble.

I saw the cover for this book and that got my interest. I then read the summary and I was really interested. So, I read it and boy am I glad that I did – WOW! Small town Nebraska sheriff Hixon Drake has just gone through a confusing divorce from his wife of 18+ years. He did not want the divorce, but she did and so it happened. He is a strong man dedicated to his job, his three wonderful children and his town. Into this mix is added Greta Dare, beautician and singer at one of the town clubs. She has had a rough life, taking care of herself since she was small as well as her younger brother who was injured both mentally and physically in a car accident. Hixon and Greta become involved, but it is not smooth sailing, it is COMPLICATED (great title)! I loved everything about the book, the main characters, the story, the town, the secondary characters (well, maybe not Greta’s mother). This is not a “sweet” romance, but gritty with human emotions and sexual activity between Hixon and Greta. I can’t wait to try other books written by Ms. Ashley. I was not given a free copy nor was I asked to review this book. (by paytonpuppy)

This was just really boring to me. I normally love KA books, but I was quite bored with this one. It just seemed very predictable. I had it playing on my the store "Alexa" while I was cleaning, and a few times, I just had to yell "Alexa STOP!." Hoping I'll enjoy the next one more. I will definitely buy her books again because she has some that I really love and read over and over. It was ok but not one I will reread again.

A couple with some mileage, a small town in Nebraska, a murder, exes... complicated and oh so worth it in Kristen Ashley's latest released exclusively on Audible with a fab narration team duo (but hsst, I hear its going out in electronic version in the fall so the pain will be brief for non-audio KA fan book folks).

Complicated was a luscious standalone gem from an author that is hit or miss for me. This one was definitely a hit full of later life dreams come true. The book is full of all sorts of interesting plot threads that radiate out from the two main characters. They were likeable and lovable and they both had lives that marked them so their character depths were well-deep and many faceted.

On the surface, it could be reduced down to two divorcees- one recent and one a few years old finding a connection, but not expecting the connection or what follows when small town friends and family are also involved. That was pretty good, but what took this one deeper for me was that the author took the time to tease out what killed the old relationships and what built this new one that was stronger and richer for the pair of them. There are exes, conflicted children, interfering parents, and all sorts of small town stuff including their separate friends and places of employment. The mystery is interesting and Hixon is the sheriff so he must deal with that, but it was interesting in the sense, too, of how it hit the community and the family of the victim.

This author knows how to make ordinary people with flaws and their simple, but flawed lives fascinating and story-worthy. I thought she was at her best with that in this one. Hixon and Great were a surprising pair in some ways. But after a few false starts, they really make sense- the devilishly handsome family-man county sheriff with the hair-stylist lounge singer once trailer trash woman with an adult brother with disabilities and a crazy 'good for a drama scene' mother.

Many times I struggle with this author because of writing style, but I did not with this one. Characters didn't get lost in their heads or unnecessarily drama this up. There are sections of character development and reflection as well as action which was a great balance. These characters were mature (well, the ones who were meant to be portrayed as mature) and acted like it. And while this was long, it did not drag. There is a lot going on and it all was natural to the story and equally engaging.

As I noted above, this is an Audible exclusive release and I was thrilled to encounter a new pair of engaging narrators in Lance Greenfield and Erin Mallon. Sections were told by Hixon with Lance taking the lead and then sections by Erin. Both were a great match for their particular character counter-parts and did a great job with the large cast of characters ranging from kids to older folk. There are many emotions to portray and changes in mood that were transitioned well. Humor, sadness, and firework-worthy passion was superb.

All in all, this latest outing with this author, her story, and the narrators was a trifecta of fabulous. Its standalone and I think those looking to try KA for the first time would find this a great place to start particularly if small town romance is your gig.

Woohooooooo! A new all time fav from KA!

I can’t express how much I ADORED and devoured every single word of this book! We get the best of Kristen Ashley, and I couldn’t have loved Hixon and Greta (plus all the incredible secondary characters!) more and they will be forever ingrained in my memory, as one of KA’s fav couples – only second to Ty and Lexie, which I worship, so that’s saying a lot – and I couldn’t get enough of this story, so much so I’d love even more Epilogue!

Enrapturing plot, heart thumping love story, intriguing suspense, incredibly deep and complex characters and SO much EMOTION! I cried, I laughed, I sobbed and I bit my nails and sigh and swooned with these two and I couldn’t be any happier! And one of the thing I loved the most?! How even though we get a couple of KA’s brand of @sshole actions/words by the H, Hix very fast realizes his mistakes and apologizes! Yes, he does grovel and does it earnestly, and best of all, Greta is no doormat, and doesn’t fall immediately by his swoon worthy apologies and justifications! I ADORED that!

Complicated was so beyond everything I could have expected and dreamed of: KA perfection! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Hixon Drake's life is definitely complicated. He's Sheriff of a small town where everybody knows your business. He's newly divorced with three teenage kids. A divorce he didn't want but since it happened anyway he's moving on.

Greta Dare is a hair stylist and part time lounge singer. She's also divorced and she moved to the small town because of its excellent facility for her younger brother. Her pain of a mother happened to follow.

Hix and Greta have a combustible night together but Hix makes it clear in a not so nice way (twice!) that he's not looking for anything serious. But his words and actions don't mesh. He can't stay away from Greta.

I liked this story. The narrators were great. I also liked the format. It's usually the audio lovers that have to wait, this time the ebook lovers have to. *sticks out tongue* LOL. I love that KA writes older characters that experience a second chance at love. And the added drama was interesting too. Plus, I'm a sucker for b*tchy exes. Well done!

In anticipation of being whipped with a wet noodle, I’m admitting this publicly. Complicated is my first EVER Kristen Ashley “read” and what an amazing way to be introduced to this amazing author that I’ve heard about over the last few years but never had the opportunity to read.

This something new I think to Audible in that this book was written exclusively for them and will not be in print until later this year. For me the experience of listening to this book and having no idea what’s going to happen next because it’s never been in print was like listening to one of those old-time radio shows where it’s playing out “before your eyes.”

I was literally on the edge of my seat as the story evolved from beginning to end. So what’s this about you ask? It’s the story of Hixon Drake the Sheriff in this little town in Nebraska and Greta Dare a woman who hasn’t been in town very long who works at the local beauty shop and has a side gig as a lounge singer at the one and only club in town.

There’s an immediate attraction for these two but it’s not as easy as they’d like to believe for them to just even have a one-night stand, for a variety of reasons. The least of which is that Hix just finalized his divorce from his wife of 19 years and there’s all sorts of drama that goes with that situation. Oh and the fact that everyone knows what everyone does in this tiny little town doesn’t help them either. Greta for her part has her younger brother Andy that is her responsibility and these two both broke my heart and made me laugh.

Add to this the first murder in this tiny town in half a century and you’ve got all sorts of Complicated!!! There’s hot and dirty sex, suspense, romance, family love, family drama, actions that keeps everyone on their toes and above all the burgeoning love between Hix and Greta.

I loved these two together so very much. There’s a lightness to their relationship that neither have had in their lives lately and it’s just what they need even if they don’t think so. There’s a draw that neither one of them want to define, but they know whatever they have is not going to be simple but be VERY Complicated, and they have to decide if it’s worth all the trouble. It’s not a smooth road they travel during this book as there are plenty of outside influences that have the ability to break them both emotionally and physically apart.

One of my other favorite parts of this book is Greta’s relationship with Andy and the amount of love she has for this young man that will never become more than what he is today. It takes a special person to take on this kind of responsibility and Greta is a woman that does everything in her power to make sure Andy knows he’s the most important man in her life.

Because of this experience, I’m going to be one-clicking away on Kristen’s books and delving more into her world and reading as much as I can. I’ve found a new author to me and I can’t wait to see where else she can take me with her words.

In conclusion, I would highly recommend downloading this book. Yes it’s quite lengthy at just over 18 hours, BUT, it’s worth every minute and second that you’ll spend listening to it because it’ll be an experience unlike any you’ve previously had with both Kristen’s words and audio books in general!!!

I love Kristen Ashley but can't read more than 2 books in a row....because of the quirky sentence structure and syntax. I find myself getting lost and having to re-read whole passages. But in Complicted the run on sentences seem to be less and the syntax more "normal". This book reminded me of the Sweet Dreams series.....a solid hero and a feisty heroine. I loved how it was as much a story about Hix being blindsided with his divorce as Greta and her story of survival. Ms Ashley always has well developed side characters and this book is no exception. My only complaint is the reason behind the divorce is unbelievable....esp Hope's regret after the fact. All in all, this is classic Kristen Ashley and has everything I love when I pick up one of her books!

Greta and Hixon - what a great love story! Their playfulness and teasing was so sweet and funny, and sometimes very hot. And the heat and passion between Greta and Hixon was phenomenal. Greta was all about giving to Hixon with everything she had and in turn he gave his all to Greta, which was lovely to see. The songs Greta sang to Hixon were perfect and defined their relationship. What I really loved was the relationships between Shaw, Corrine, Mamie and Andy with Hixon and Greta. The kids were great with Andy and Andy stole my heart with his sweet ways. It was heartbreaking to find that Greta had learned as a child to never have dreams, but was heartwarming when she got more than she could have ever dreamed of with Hixon, his children and Andy. This story had depth and was a great read. This is definitely one of my favorites now!

The male narrator did a good job voicing the male characters, but he sounded terrible as the female characters. Ditto for the female narrator: fine as the women, but terrible as the men.
Why not have the two narrators record together, voicing the appropriate characters? Expense, probably.
Plus, halfway through, the male reader used the wrong name for the youngest child (using Mammie instead of Maimie). Very amateurish.

With all the markings of a true KA book, "Complicated" takes the reader on an emotional journey of two characters searching for new beginnings... Hixon and Greta are a powerful combination of strength, sexiness, sass, and raw truth that set both the heart and soul alight... In true KA fashion, this read is filled with beautiful and memorable secondary characters that provide that balance of family and friendship that are at the heart of the story... add in a bit of mystery and intrigue and all the factors combine to create a fast paced, heart pounding read that I never wanted to put down... 5 Beautifully Complicated Stars:)

I'm a big Kristen Ashley fan and I pretty much have read almost all her books. Actually I get all her books on audiobook form and listen to them in cars, between appointments, just about everywhere. Her stories are multi-layered and complex. Hix is a man's man who is struggling to get his kids back on stable ground following an unexpected divorce (not a spoiler since it's in the expose in chp1). I like how he's not afraid of a real woman and of working at a relationship. He doesn't just grunt and crook a finger. He can be real and still smolders. This is a long book, but the heat between Hix and Greta is palpable and keeps me listening. I was sad to see the end of it.

This story started out OK, and I thought that classic KA might be back. I was wrong though. Even though it made me nostalgic for her early books; it was tired, cliched, and disorganized — with far too many detailed descriptions of clothing and furniture, and too many random plot-lines that were unconnected and unresolved. (FYI KA — Going into debt to buy a lot of nice furniture and linens, is not indicative of being a good father; and 40-something alpha males don’t go into exhaustive detail describing what their “woman” is wearing.) The characters were OK; but either too perfect or too ridiculously evil.

I have listened to EVERY Kristen Ashley book available. So I have been salivating for this story. All I can say is that I belong to a Kristen Ashley Group and many times those of us who have read/listened to all of her books have been almost envious of new readers who are just discovering KA goodness. So for us "Old Timers," HERE'S ONE FOR US!!! For those who have never read a KA book, This story is Kristen Ashley in TOP form. You will fall in love with the main characters and as always, Kristen writes the best secondary characters and epilogues EVER!

Complicated is a complicated romance and family drama set in a small town in Nebraska. Hix and Greta are 38 and 42, both have been married and have complicated exes. Greta has an evil mother and physically and mentally impaired brother to look after. Hix has 3 children and he's the sheriff, while Greta is a singer and hairdresser. Lots of gossips, family drama and even a murder in the quiet town. Lots of introspection in both main characters. I listened to the audible version which was well read by two narrators.

I am a huge KA fan so I could not wait 6 months to read her new book. I have only listened to a few books on tape so was not sure I would enjoy. I felt like it was done very well. The story was wonderful, I very much enjoyed it and had a hard time turning it off to do other things. It was classic KA so the story is worth giving a new format a shot. I can't say I will listen to a bunch of audio books now cause I do enjoy curling up and turning pages (ok swiping pages on my I-pad) but I am glad I listened. Highly recommend!! Loved all the characters and really hope she does a few more books related to this and turns it into a series.

This is the first Kristen Ashley book I have "read" on Audible. What a treat! The male and female characters were read by male and female narrators. A great job. And the story -- wow! A strong, loving, compassionate woman meets a thoroughly tough, alpha sheriff in small town Nebraska. Lots of complications with lots of interesting and sensible resolutions along the way. It is about families and towns -- the really good and the not always good -- and all that comes with it. So encouraging to experience such a warm, charming and real story.

Ok, let’s address the BIG ELEPHANT in the room and get this out of the way. Just as a courtesy disclaimer, IF with any of my words I offend you, you feel it personally or simply disagree with me, then I’m sorry, FYOU, but it's MY opinion and I stand by it. There.

Now, about this AUDIOBOOK, I've read a lot of reviews that start with statements similar to these:

• ‘OMG I hate audiobooks'
• 'audiobooks are not for me'
• 'Ugh I can't deal with narrators'
• 'I make my own voices in my head'
• 'OMG that is NOT the voice for so and so'
• ‘AUDIOBOOKS ARE AWFUL’.

And in the serene wise words of a good friend of mine, (keeping it hood, of course):

B***H, PLEASE!

It’s only an audiobook. Get over it.

Back in the day, I was the first person to stand against audiobooks. Audiobooks were awful to me when I was a kid because I wanted to be all badass, strain my eyes until late hours of the nigh and pretend I had 20/20 vision when I always knew I was DOOMED to wear glasses thanks to the inherited bad eyesight I got from BOTH my parents. So when my already messed up sight increased way too much 4 years ago due to stress, I simply gave up on attempting to read and found beauty in an audiobook I came across when it was on sale for $1.99. Yep. AN AUDIOBOOK ON SALE FOR $1.99. I couldn’t let that opportunity go since I had been eying said book and just saw the opportunity to finally ‘read’ this book without breaking my bank.

I NEVER LOOKED BACK.

And over the years since becoming an Audible member, I have encountered BAD narrations. I’m not going to lie or sugarcoat the truth: some audiobooks are dreadfully painful to listen to. Narration is so bad it makes you want to cry. But I have also encountered FANTASTIC books where both narrators hit it out of the park.

‘Complicated’ by Kristen Ashley falls in the FANTASTIC category. This is KA going back to basics in her contemporary plot scheming, alpha hero, hardworking / badass female lead character with a lot of sass and determination. In short, if you are a diehard KA fan who KNOWS her line of work and loves it, this is DEF for you. You will spend over 18 hours listening to a very enthralling and compelling story that honestly warms your heart.

I find just ONE reason why not to give it a full 5 star review (story-wise), and it’s because of the murder-mystery part of the story. I felt like it needed a bit more intrigue, a bit more ‘investment’. Unlike other mysteries KA has written, this one fell flat in the overall plot. Obviously, this is a love story and the love story was the main focus, but she’s always had this gift of mixing both and making them work so flawlessly you WANT to learn what happened to who and how are they going to resolve this. Her staple books usually have this route, yet in this story, I felt that after a certain point the mystery was forgotten and by the time it’s solved, the WAY how everything worked in the end just didn’t do anything for me. Like, REALLY? That’s the why, when where and how? Seriously? Huh.

Another thing I didn’t like too much was the way how Hick’s previous marriage ends, the why’s, Hope’s explanation, the way how they talk, the easiness of everything. It seemed too simple, and yet too dramatic. I don’t know. It just didn’t click in my head, and I’ve read some superb love stories from her before. I wasn’t too convinced on this, BUT, I do feel this is a classic KA love story with it’s very specific objective: a great HEA.

Now, the NARRATION part deserves 10 stars if possible. Since this is an Audible exclusive (until November, I think?) I wanted half of this review to be on the narration, which if you ask me, is absolutely SUPERB. It’s hard enough to engage with one narrator, hoping this one does a kickass job and makes you want to actually PAY ATTENTION to the story, let alone TWO. A dual narration is extra hard to like, believe me. In some instances you love the female narrator but HATE the male or vice versa. Or you hate both. Usually you are going to end up liking at least one. Lance Greenfield and Erin Mallon SURPASSED all my expectations on this audiobook and came very close to what I thought were the voices of each character. If you are not familiar or really used to audiobook listens, this is a good way to start. Both narrators are easy to follow, sound great to ear, have excellent intonation, punctuation and emphasis. Male narrator does subtle female voices and female narrator makes convincing male voices. The overall of this combo of narrators is above average, it’s FANTASTIC.

You don’t do audiobooks? Good for you!, but take the plunge and dive into this one, which is WORTH the $14.99 membership payment on Audible (which in case you didn’t know, you CAN re use over and over again cause audiobooks are returnable – so long as you are a member – AND, if you don’t want to pay month to month, you can always do a every other month which is also $14.99 but charged only 6 times a year).

I enjoyed the story, characters, all of it. Has become another favorite. I liked the narrators but my only complaint is a small one, I would have liked it more if the female & male narrators could have used their voices throughout the book for their characters, I liked the changing for the different person point of views with the different chapters. For instance even if it was Hix's point of view we still got Greta's voice instead of the male narrator's version. Small thing but I liked their voices so would have preferred it through out the book.

This was a wonderful classic KA book. If you have enjoyed her Colorado series, her Burg series or any of her other contemporary romance series, this is just the best. If You have never read/listened to her, this is a great book to start with. The narrators are excellent. I cannot say enough good things about this book! Loved it! This felt old school KA to me, and I hope she continues to write these kind of romances as well as all her other genres. My favorites are her small town contemporaries.

I found I wanted to shut off the world so I could listen to Complicated. I was glued to my chair as Alexa allowed Hix and Greta to fill my bedroom. Kristen Ashley has written another massive winner of a book. Hix is your typical KA hero - strong, dominant, uber-Alpha, and (at first) a bit of a jerk. Greta is one of the best heroines KA has ever written (in my opinion);. She's strong, loyal, sweet, kind, and is the perfect partner for Hix. Currently, this book is only available via Audible, and the two authors do amazing jobs. Don't miss this book!

I loved this book! It reminded me of classic KA like The Burg, Colorado Mountain, etc. I loved that it is a monster in size (576 pages) and it may have a slower pace, but it meant I can savor every word she wrote. The dialogue was pure gold! The book is like comfort food for the soul.

My first by this author. A story full of family drama and a bit of detective work thrown in. Great main characters. Hix was an awesome dad and it shows in his children. Greta was a great parent even though she never wanted kids. The chemistry is off the charts. I’ll definitely try more from this author.

Kristen Ashley always delivers the sexy, strong heroes and the independent, sassy leading ladies. Complicated is a story filled with heat, love, suspense, family and heart. I loved every minute of it. The narrators brought this story to life and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Complicated was a pleasure to my senses and kept me wanting more.
Complicated is Hixon and Greta's story, but there's so much more to it than that. Hix has a family, an ex-wife and he's the sheriff of a small Nebraska town. Greta's a hairdresser and part time lounge singer. They meet by chance an share a fantastic night. But, Hix isn't in a place to date anyone right now. He has to take care of his town and his kids. He's responsible, sexy, smart and funny. Greta has a tortured past, but she's trying to live a good life. After her one night with the handsome sheriff, she can't stop thinking about him, but she knows there's no future for them. Or is there? Hix can only stay away from Greta for so long before he has to see her, talk to her, touch her. Can he be with Greta while he raises his kids and protects his citizens? Will they get a second chance at love? I loved this story. So much. I loved listening to these characters come to life. The emotion and humor in their voices made the story that much greater. I was swept away in the story, the characters and their voices. I'm looking forward to more audiobooks by Kristen and these narrators.

Her books are more than twice as long as they need to be due to unnecessary details about EVERYTHING! And the writing style is the same in every book. The male characters never change! It’s frustrating because I think her books would be good if she would just change things up a little. No more Kristen Ashley for me.

Oh my GOSH!!! This is classic KA and I loved it and I mean loved it. I want Audio books for all her other books but with a male narrator. But Hixon and Greta oh lord so good. But can I just say Andy oh I adore Andy.

Great book needs to be experienced and just saying I am on my second time listening to it. Back to back:)

Kristen Ashley never ceases to amaze me with her books. This book has everything you could want in it from a small town murder mystery to everyone getting into other peoples business. This book is precisely why I love Kristen Ashley.

I think the storyline was great....I always love Kristen Ashley books. My issue is with the narrators...I turned it on for my husband to hear and he said they were horrible. I didn't think that I just thought that anytime Greta was speaking the female narrator should have been reading. The image in my head was distorted hearing a man try and create a female voice. Unfortunately that was the very first part of the book...So unless the female perspective was being read I always had a very manly Greta image.

Complicated is that one sensational audiobook, that you will have you pulling an all nighter! Not being able to press stop on the audio! For fear a missing some a momentous scene.
The storyline has that magnetic flare from the get go!. Willing to pull at your emotions, like a tether, a string and blowing your mind in the process! Add in the addition of narration and the story is just a like a balm! Lance Greenfield and Erin Mallon bring these characters to life!
Like an exploding firecracker that shoots off! Making you catch and savory every second of Kristen Ashley’s infectious brand of storytelling!

I loved this book. The characters were relatable and easy to love. I want to read more I want shaw's love story. I want the love stories of his sisters. Even one of Hope would be interesting. I would even like to hear about Faith and Owen.

I love a small town story about a hot sheriff (especially a bad ass hot guy)! Add in Kristen Ashely as the author, who always brings a splash intrigue and a lot of drama and you have the perfect book! I discovered KA through audible and have listen to every book available so when I learned about this audible exclusive I was over the moon!

I have loved every KA book I've read, but her second chance love stories are always amazing. Greta and Hixon's story does not disappoint. Both divorced and carrying a whole lot of baggage you question this relationships potential. But KA made sure we new these too were meant to be even if that meant it was "Complicated" as hell!

I can't say enough amazing things about this book. If your a KA fan and wondering what type of KA book this is, I would put it in the Burg/Colorado Mountain category. It is 100% worth the listen!!!

I AM HOOKED ON KRISTEN ASHLEY! I’ve lost count of the number of her books I own and have read multiple times. This is no exception and I’m tempted to read it again since I devoured it the first time.

My first ever audio book and totally worth it. All the Kristen Ashley goodness you expect with the added bonus of someone telling you the story. I adored both Sheriff Hixon Drake and the quirky Great Dare. Definitely recommended.

You either love KA books or you hate them. This book is slightly different, it has a different writing style compared to her previous works. Enjoyed reading this till the end and couldn’t stop reading it till my eyes hurt ???. I can’t wait to listen to this in audiobook.

Just fabulous! The narrators really hit the mark. The story is a good one - vintage Kristen Ashley with a little spice. Hix and Greta were both likable and made for a great H and h. Secondary characters were well developed and complemented the story really well. As always - KA keeps her standards high with consistent writing and story telling. No cliffhanger and no pre-story needed.

My 1st Kristen's Audible book. Actually, this is my 1st audible book ever! Have ALL her book book, love reading and re-reading them. Was not sure how I'd feel about listening instead of reading her book first. So happy that I enjoyed it. Loving going through the journey of Complicated. <3

Was looking forward to reading another Kristen Ashley book. I made it about 15% into the book and had to stop. I honestly thought I had a foggy mind while reading it because the sentences didn’t make sense. I had to reread and read out loud to comfirm it wasn’t me.

This is my first book review because I felt so strongly about the quality of this book. It was interesting and well written with subplots, likable characters and characters you love to hate plus a murder mystery thrown in. I would definitely read this author again.

Loved it! I don't usually download audio only books, but I gave it a go since KA is one of my favorite authors. I'm so glad I did! The characters were amazing. The story was engaging. And, the audio was perfect with both.

Epic love story. We would all be so lucky to have a Greta or a Hixon in our lives. The ups and downs in their journey make you scream no when it goes wrong and jumps for joy when it goes right. Plus the scorching hot sex is steamy to say the least.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
