Review:This story was extra hard for Eve and Roarke because a little girl needed their help and we all know they have a difficult time with kids because of their past. I loved seeing Eve lost with the kid and asking for help. Roarke was perfect in this story and became such a cute guy talking about kids, yes, plural, almost gave Eve a heart attack.
The story was simple to me and after Eve realised revenge was the reason, she nailed fast the person responsible. I liked to see Peabody again and it... Read more
Review:This series is my favorite out there. It contains the same characters in every volume but still manages to stay very fresh and interesting. The crimes in each are creepy, strange and anything but predictable, and the relationships between the characters are developing on pace. I hope Nora Roberts, er J.D. Robb, continues this series indefinitely. The books certainly entertain me and are the entertainment highlights of every spring and fall! Read more
Review:I never put spoilers in my reviews.
J D Robb (Nora Roberts) is one of the few authors I reread. Everything about the "in death" novels is quality writing and defies genre labeling.
From the relationship between Dallas and Rourke, the mystery/thriller storyline, an extremely strong female role model, the secondary characters, the setting, well, everything, you just can't wait for the next one. Robb shows that a woman can be strong and capable despite soul crippling events in her life. I hav... Read more
Review:This was a great "In Death" installment. I felt so many emotions while reading Promises in Death. To share the emotions would mean sharing spoilers and I don't want to spoil the story for you. Just know there is a rollercoaster ride of surprises in this book.
We see Eve Dallas at her best while wrestling conflicting emotions this murder uncovers. I loved the "smart women" briefing!
I highly recommend this book. You won't be sorry. Read more

Review:In this 14th novel in the In Death series, we pick up the story two weeks after the conclusion of the previous novel. Eve Dallas and Roarke have just returned from a much-needed vacation and are only about one week away from celebrating their first wedding anniversary. When Eve returns to work the next morning, she comes face to face with – nothing. Her office has been completely cleaned and repainted. Her desk is completely clear of old files and her in-box is empty.
However, within twe... Read more
Review:This story has got to be one of the very best in the series. However, it couldn't and wouldn't be what it is without the development of the characters as a result of the previous 23 stories, attributing Eve's growth as a "sensitive" human being and substantiating her position as NYC's top homicide lieutenant, no matter how intense her personal life issues become. The storyline takes on two primary matters. One, a murder in an upscale elementary school - Sarah Child Academy, of a young history... Read more
Review:I have to say compared to her last "In Death" book this a quieter mystery. I really needed it after the last books graphic style. It is a good read, keeps you guessing and gives the reader better insight into Dallas, Roarke, Peabody and the rest of the crew. Very enjoyable. Read more
Review:I don't often leave reviews for books. I find it hard to express how I feel about books that I like or dislike , and I know that the author despite whether or not I like the book worked very hard to create something that others would enjoy. So unless a book or series makes an impression that is Unforgettable be it negative or positive I don't leave a review.
This book (series) is one of those that has left an unforgettable positive impression. I have read this series since the first book was ... Read more
