Review:This is an excellent book. The author makes some pretty earth shaking assertions, but being a scientist he supports them well with studies he either performed himself or by referring to the ones of other scientists. The book is very easy and fun to read. By reading it, you will learn much about yourself, your friends, society and business in general.
The author's framework includes several dimensions. The first one is that good feelings about good decisions weight much less on our psy... Read more
Review:Really small and quick read. Very inspiring! My professor recommended this for me. I recommend this to anyone that is a designer or a business or even for self developmental purposes. It will truly change you for an innovative boost. Read more
Review:I have to agree with the other reviewers that this is a very good book. I am a pretty tough critic, who reserves five stars for books that change my life. While this book fell just short of that classification, I can say that my life is a little easier/better after reading it.
If you are reading these reviews, you probably have some experience with the subject. For that, I offer you my condolences. The good news is two-fold. First, it gets better with time. Second, books like this one can... Read more
Review:If you really want to read a tale about the very worst of US corporate practices, The Smartest Guys in the Room is the book for you! authors McLean and Elkind spare no detail of dodgy finance, sleaze, greed and ineptitude as they bring us an accurate dissection of the rise and fall on Kenny-Boy Lay and his associates.
The authors, both writers for Forbes, are well-qualified to understand their subject and present it in good, journalistic prose form. The book makes a fine double-read wit... Read more
Review:So these guys want to have an adventure. Great idea. Then they decide somebody else should pay for the trip, because god forbid they spend their own money. Then they decide a company should give them bikes to do the trip, because god forbid they use their own bikes. Then they take a support crew...
It has interesting parts about people they meet and such that kept me interested. However, I was lost on the whole "adventure" aspect because everything was laid out for them / paid for / p... Read more
Review:Unfortuneately most of us have at least one toxic parent. This book could be standard reading for everyone. It shows the different types of toxic parents and counters their toxicity with the truth. You don't have to live your life striving for their approval. Toxic parent relationships are not healthy and should not be treated the same as healthy parent-child relationships. This book is very informative and very practical. Read more
Review:It was a pleasure reading this book simply for the fact that it includes a number of topics which are not usually included in similar books, such as Body Dynamics, the element of fear etc.
The plain english is easy to follow and the figures clearly explain anything that might seem overly complicated when read for the first time.
This is truly a book for the rider who wants to better him/herself and its a pitty it does not leave space for small notes for the reader to jot down to us... Read more
Review:This book is wonderfully written in a very conversational tone which makes it easy to read. I think perhaps just because we are human beings that we may have basic concept of some of what is written about in the book, BUT when it is spelled out in detail the light bulb goes on! I wish I had the information in this book on a couple of meetings/interviews I've had. It would have been interesting, at least for me! You will be able to utilize the information in all areas of your life from co-wor... Read more
Review:Those of us who understand our constitution and get our news from a source other than the government media will not read about anything that we haven't been aware of for the past seven years. However, Shapiro builds a succinct legal case for the need to take action before it is too late. RICO may be the route to resolution but even after reading the book I'm not clear how we get around a corrupt AG as individuals. It has been said that we get the government we deserve. I feel sorry for our ch... Read more
