It was a pleasure reading this book simply for the fact that it includes a number of topics which are not usually included in similar books, such as Body Dynamics, the element of fear etc.

The plain english is easy to follow and the figures clearly explain anything that might seem overly complicated when read for the first time.

This is truly a book for the rider who wants to better him/herself and its a pitty it does not leave space for small notes for the reader to jot down to use the book as a personal journal. It is a reference book which should not be read once but kept being referred to for deeper insight into the different subjects of interest.

As I read this, I discovered things about controlling my motorcycle that I'd never intuitively figured out on my own. Even the info I got out of the MSF courses didn't touch the level of explanation and detail that Lee Parks offers in Total Control.

If you're on the fence about getting serious about taking control of your riding technique, get this book and you'll more out of your bike and every ride.

Even for a noob; I consider this essential reading. It is important to get the most out of your machine. I find myself using many of the steering techniques when I drive m car and my truck. As a truck driver the steering techniques have improved my control of the way I drive my big rig! Who knew...

This is a well written book that covers many aspects of riding and things that affect riding. Lee Parks gives good examples of how to handle yourself on a bike and how the bike will react to things. He gives detailed examples and instructions on how to improve your overall riding ability for beginners and experienced riders. Good pictures of correct and incorrect examples. I'm Glad that I bought this book.

Awesome book for someone who is comfortable on a motorcycle, but wants to expand their safety margin on the street or push harder at the track. This book picks up where the MSF courses left off. This is a MUST read for sport bike riders.

Overall, a fantastic work complete with examples, lessons, and practice descriptions. This is not the definitive book of motorcycle riding, but certainly WELL WORTH the time and money to read.

I also purchased A Twist Of The Wrist II as a supplement to this book, also strongly recommended.

Great book! Don't "listen" to the review that says it's worse than the first edition! I bought both because of this (it said that the first edition had more information) and regret it. Read both in parallel, and the second edition is much better, more information and better illustrated.

This is an excellent book for riders at any level. Anyone who owns a motorcycle that wants to sharpen their riding skills and understand the physics behind a bike and how to get the most out of it NEEDS to read this book.
This book came highly recommended to me from a guy that has been on two wheels his whole life, and after reading it, I know why he recommended it to me!

This amazing book provides deep insights into life itself and explains motorcycling as a focus of those principles. Non-motorcyclists and motorcyclists alike can gain deep insights into themselves by just reading the non-technical chapters on fear and confidence, to name a few. Motorcyclists in all aspects of the sport benefit by acquiring deeper understanding of the unique mechanical processes and odd physics that come into play when a motorcycle starts to move and how to integrate with them. This is the best book I have ever read on the two main components of motorcycling, the person and the machine, and it's not just a capsule of knowledge, it's a springboard for going further into philosophy and physical skills. I am a highly-experienced motorcyclist and I learned more in these pages than in 30 other good books on the topic.

This is excellent material for anyone who rides on the street, and especially those who ride sportbikes. The information within is easy to read, understand, and apply to everyday riding. The drills to develop key skills are laid out very well and I practice many of them each time I go out. Some one who is just starting to ride can use this book to understand how to continuously develop the skills necessary to stay safe while riding.

Besides cornering technics, the author of Total control books explains where to check errors on the bike. The book is mostly based on track days but you still learn good tips for street biking as well. In overall it is a book that must be read.

"Total Control" is a valuable resource for motorcyclists. Lee Parks' writing style is direct and down-to-earth. He easily explains complex ideas about the physics and techniques of riding motorcycles with smoothness and confidence. I especially like the drills that he includes in his book, so that you can practice many of the ideas presented, in a controlled environment. I highly recommend this book!

This book has everything from riding techniques to spiritual aspects of riding to suspension and chassis set ups. I am still waiting for the snow to melt so I can start working on the drills posted in this book!

Although this isn't the most informative review, lets just say I have bookmarks and highlighted sentences all throughout this book, it looks like I have studied it more than my college books!

Total Control is an excellent learning resource for beginners. It covers so many topics, many that many newbies don't think about, but are very important for learning to ride. For example, the book covers ergonomics and how to do simple things to improve comfort and performance such as adjusting your levers up front to reduce wrist soreness, as well as adjusting foot rests and levers. If you're just new to riding, this is definitely one route to go about learning about riding. Terrific book, I would recommend it to any new rider.

Unique perspectives about the essence of riding with superb technical analysis make this a valuable reference. Then there are the exercises and drills to bring it all home. A enjoyable read and a book to go back to many more times.

If you ride a motorcycle, this book is essential. It gives you simple to learn techniques that will help improve every aspect of your riding and might even safe your life. The chapter on vision should be read first. It's probably the most important. Then start at the beginning and watch your confidence soar.
