A Piece of Cake: A Memoir
A Piece of Cake: A Memoir

Review:I thought it was well done - captivating.
I read prior reviews and some thought it was poorly written, or that the author 'tried to hard' to get in the third party character. I disagree - I felt she was trying to pull us into the story. Hard to believe anyone can endure so much as a child and have a positive outcome as an adult. Read more

King Lear (No Fear Shakespeare)
King Lear (No Fear Shakespeare)

Review:As a retired English teacher I found this book to be gem when trying to sell Shakespeare to kids who are really not all that interested. The modern translation followed by the original prose is really helpful for kids who must study English as a compulsory subject but who interests lie more in the maths and science field. I wish this book had been in my possession when I was still teaching. Read more

The World's Largest Man: A Memoir
The World's Largest Man: A Memoir

Review:I appreciate the theme but was ultimately distracted by the "hyperbolization" of various aspects essentially to support the humor of the incidents. I appreciated the characters presented but was disappointed in that they were developed more as caricatures than real people . Read more

Dispatches from the Front Lines of the New Girlie-Girl Culture
Dispatches from the Front Lines of the New Girlie-Girl Culture

Review:I have two daughters who are very into princesses and very girly. I thought this book would be a very interesting read, even if I didn't agree with the author. As I read, I appreciated the author's extensive research. She traveled to far away places to see how the other half lives and truly tried to understand why the princess mentality is important in some cultures and not others. She traveled to universities to witness studies being done as well. However, I felt there was too much of her opini... Read more

Live Fast Die Hot

Review:I was irritated once realized she was married to a rich guy. Her quirks are like most women, except she has NO money issue, has a nanny, owns houses, travels the globe...I have worked and supported myself, kids my whole life, still not able to buy a home, it's frustrating if you aren't in some creepy sell out business that exploits being supported by big business giving to you when you advertise them, etc. I just work pay taxes and can't even afford to buy a house with a college education and a ... Toxic Parents
Toxic Parents

Review:Unfortuneately most of us have at least one toxic parent. This book could be standard reading for everyone. It shows the different types of toxic parents and counters their toxicity with the truth. You don't have to live your life striving for their approval. Toxic parent relationships are not healthy and should not be treated the same as healthy parent-child relationships. This book is very informative and very practical. Read more

Adventures of Pinocchio
Adventures of Pinocchio

Review:Another timeless classic with morals whose meanings still hold as much truth to them today as they did when Carlo Collodi originally wrote Pinocchio. I would recommend to any and all; from the truly young, to those who are young at heart =0) Read more

A Quiz about the Woman in Your Life - Do You Know Your Wife?
A Quiz about the Woman in Your Life - Do You Know Your Wife?

Review:Kind of outdated w/ type questions, and questions lack "substance". Depends what you are looking for. A kind of fun game to play as a couple because certainly does not go "deeper" to questions that makes someone think about. Read more
