Review:It Happened to Nancy is a touching story that every teenage girl should read. It shows you that you are not the only one that goes through things such as rape or AIDS. Nancy was a very brave girl who should have had the chance to live. I love how this book shows that she was confused and needed help because most of us do. The questions and answers at the end of the book were very helpful. Read more
Review:This first-person journal-style book "tracks" the anaorexic journey of a normal teen girl.
The narrator is a cross-country runner. Her coach has warned the team of eating disordered athletes and insists that all runners complete a food diary to ensure that they are eating sufficient calories to maintain their physical fitness. The narrator--I'll call her "Ana" though she remains unnamed throughout--does this. She's committed to her team and her success as a runner. Her BFF, Jill, is a bal... Read more
Review:Good condition, and on-time (early) shipping. But the price sticker was on the cover and hard to get off (took some of the cardboard-style cover with it when it did). It also did not come with a dust cover--sad. Just ok, not great. I LOVE this book though, and got this copy signed by the author--so it is mine for life. Read more
Review:Plot stolen from Ear, Eye, Arm, by Farmer; Uglies series by Westerfeld. Someone must have read these books aloud to the two high school dropouts who contributed "their" ideas to this train wreck. Deserves 0 stars, but this review format requires at least 1.... Read more
Review:This was a great read for most anybody. The heroes are more unpredictable than the villans and it made for a work of genious. You'd have to read it to understand what I mean.
The main character is a average joe named Jack. Jack becomes the apprentice to a looney bard that can cast spells and mess with the force of nature, but Jack's not that good at it. Anyway it turns out the bard was wanted by a troll queen and soon Jack's village is invaded by a bunch of berzerk vikings under the que... Read more
Review:First I would like to say I appreciate the effort of writing A book...let alone 3...so Im sorry for my unkind review but the amount of sheer constant mess that this story degrades into leaves you feeling bored, exhausted, and dissatisfied. Like an encounter with a selfish lover. It just feels heartbreaking because it has so much potential. Maybe a little more time spent on maturing and refining would have improved this book...and parts of it were briefly awesome...man i cant get away from this a... Read more
Review:Two is probably generous. This is just bad writing. Nothing really happens most of the book (except of course the jock "falls in love" with the school nerd in 2 days! The ending is over the top ridiculous. Can't believe I actually finished this Read more
Review:While I loved (LOVED!) the Chaos Walking trilogy, I didn't like this story at all. The Viola in this story is more of a "typical teenager" than she is in the books -- all she did was whine, mope about, not appreciate what her parents and others did for her, and whine. Did I mention whine? Because she sure did whine.
Maybe younger folks are interested in reading about characters like that, but older ones might want to skip this (even though it's free).
It is a YA book/story, so I'm ... Read more
Review:2nd time through & enjoyed it just as much!! Meant for young adult readers, but still so much us "old farts" can learn or be reminded of! Leaders of people show be required to read it - they'd do their jobs better!! Read more
Review:As our technological, energy intensive way of life shows evermore how unsustainable it is, I enjoy reading stories about how the future may really unfold. The Drowned Cities looks ahead to a warm, de-industrial world in collapse. A good read. Read more
