HUSH
HUSH

Review:Riley has a hot as coals man in her life named Finn who doesn't believe much she says. But what a fire they have together. Best book I've read in a while. Loved every moment, every twist and turn looking for the money. But loved the hot flying sparks between these two. Goodness if he was only real and belonged to me. Read more

Inside Out
Inside Out

Review:Hundreds of thousands of men, women and children live in the lower levels and keep the pipes for ventilation and waste management clean for the "Uppers". The children are born and given to special nurseries to be raised in a type of "family" group. Trella is a scrub who is a little more adventurous than most of them and has gotten into trouble a few times for climbing up the pipes to see how the "Uppers" live. She has a few friends and among them is a man who grew up with her in the same "fam... Read more

Grave Mercy: His Fair Assassin, Book I
Grave Mercy: His Fair Assassin, Book I

Review:Not my typical read, but a enjoyable change of pace. I was a little worried by the first few chapters, but that changed suddenly and I found myself so engaged that I couldn't put the book down. Dark Mercy has action, romance, a compelling story line, and believable, well developed characters set in the 1400's. It is marketed as a teen book, although I don't think I would recommend it to my young teenage daughter, but I am conservative in this regard. A great read! Read more

An Edgy Sci-Fi Love Story (Between Two Evils Book 1)
An Edgy Sci-Fi Love Story (Between Two Evils Book 1)

Review:This story revolves around the concept of time travel. At first , its more of general fiction piece , but the elements of science fiction and romance come into play and create an interesting story. Isabel an Diego loved each other , but they had a fallout in their relationship that led to drama in Isabel's life. And then there is an attack in Denver. Though the lovers reunite , it does not end there. There comes a point that there is nothing more to live for , and they take part in a high risk ... Read more

One Dark Throne (Three Dark Crowns)
One Dark Throne (Three Dark Crowns)

Review:Since the last novel there was an incredible plot twist that left the story hanging from the minds of readers everywhere. There was a hardening of characters, but also a deeper look at who they were and who they are now that was incredibly thoughtful and captivating.

This is a not a novel for the fainthearted, or for someone who thinks that these queens are going to live happily ever after. These are queens who are destined to destroy one another as they have for centuries, leaving the st... Read more

Talon (The Talon Saga)
Talon (The Talon Saga)

Review:I stand before you, still wallowing in the tears that began to flow from my eyes while reading TALON by Julie Kagawa. No, they were not tears of sadness due to the emotional level of the story. More-so, they were tears of sadness because of the complete loss of (the apparently much-too-high) hopes, dreams and expectations that I’d held for this book.

No, I did not care for TALON.
I didn’t even like it.

This is one of those rare instances that I actually must use the word “dislik... Read more

Trash
Trash

Review:The story about the dumpsite boys begins with Raphael, a voice that I found inviting. He was upbeat, fun, and adventurous--a definite clash when you consider he's among the many of poverty-stricken who depend on garbage as a way of survival.

The voices switch as Gardo, Raphael's best friend, steps in to tell part of the story. He's the wiser of the two and though I didn't like the change in voice, I warmed up to Gardo before the next character took over.

Their adventure began on a ... Read more

Goodbye Days
Goodbye Days

Review:Goodbye Days is the wonderful sophomore novel from the talented Morris Award-winning author, Jeff Zentner. In Goodbye Days, Carver Briggs has lost his three best friends in a tragic accident. Carver’s grief (and guilt) is palpable on every page and Zentner’s exploration of it is poignant and heartfelt. But underneath all the grief, tucked within the beautiful words, is the thread of hope. And that is what makes this a novel to savor. Its story and characters will stay with you long after turning... Read more
