Review:How to Write A Simple Book Review by Allyson R. Abbott is a great and informative book.
I have always wanted to write reviews on the books I read, but I always felt that my reviews were unintelligent and just plain bad. With this book, l learned some guidelines to follow and that there is not really a way to mess up a review if, you are giving your exact feelings on the book.
I definitely like how the author says that the review doesn't have to be super lengthy to be a good review.... Read more
Review:This guy basically just got out of school and decided to not work for a year and study is "productivity" and make a blog about it. So pretty much everything in the book is useless as he has no real world experience to base anything off of. All of the advice in the book is stuff that any normal person who's ever had a real job already knows.
There is really nothing of value of here. Read more
Review:As if there was any doubt as to why Ray Dalio and Bridgewater have ascended to the ranks as the globes top fund....
“Principles” clearly articulates through an approachable prose, Ray’s precise and systematic way of evaluating and making decisions. His desire to immerse himself in radical transparency and the pursuit of meaningful relationships and self actualization is inspiring. This book is for the executive and the average “joe,” seeking perspective on evaluating any aspect of life. Read more
Review:If I wanted to know what a file folder or a paperclip was for this would be a very useful book. Defining them in length was a way to add words to this book. Having people go out and spend money on file folders and unnecessary billboards when we live in an age of technology seems silly.
The whole concept of being a vertical thinker is limiting. It is a narrow minded approach to allow lemmings to feel good about what they are doing. It places too much emphasis on thinking in one direction... Read more
Review:Love love love this book, it's been a revelation. I've binned the ineffective to-do list in favour of the MIT and now I'm scheduling everything that matters. This book gave me a major wake up call and Kevin Kruse, I owe you !! Determined not to waste any more of the 1440, and inspired by 'in their own words' I have a new lease of life! Love the way the author relates this to all walks of life, CEO to SAHM and all in between. Great book, such great value. Read more
Review:I have known Jay Samit for several years. As we have endeavored to conclude a serious Studio deal. This business transaction will change the dynamics of the film Industry. The principles described in this book are the excellent mind set of Jay Samit. You rarely encounter a person 100% true to their word in the Business world today. Jay Samit is a rare entity indeed, so very refreshing to explore business with Jay. He has an incredible mind set in the technical world. It has been such a pleasure ... Read more
Review:This is an excellent book. The author makes some pretty earth shaking assertions, but being a scientist he supports them well with studies he either performed himself or by referring to the ones of other scientists. The book is very easy and fun to read. By reading it, you will learn much about yourself, your friends, society and business in general.
The author's framework includes several dimensions. The first one is that good feelings about good decisions weight much less on our psy... Read more
Review:This book offered great suggestions about how to receive feedback (including an in-depth analysis of why we can be resistant to feedback, especially depending on who is giving it or the their timing). I purchased the book hoping it would help inform my work in Customer Service, but it seemed to be guided more by personal growth than organizational development. It was great for me to consider but did not meet my needs in developing effective customer service surveys. Read more
Review:This is a good book that illustrates how the 5 Love Languages concept can be applied in a professional work environment. Motivating employees and team members requires work and effort, and even a small amount of appreciation expressed in the right way (i.e. the employee's primary appreciation language) can pay off in spades. The book explains the different appreciation languages and gives tips and examples of how to manage people using those concepts. Read more
Review:I listened to the first half of this on audible hoping it was building to examples of resolution with the same detail and suspense as they present all the many no-win problems that we all encounter. They don't appear. After listening to great questions such as: "Your boss tells you he will support you in a pinch but then each time you ask for support in a pinch he doesn't return his call. Now what?" What indeed! But I've yet to hear a "here is a way to handle that situation." There is lots of me... Read more
