Review:As stated in the book (209) chapter 8: "The previous chapter introduced basic issues of model evaluation and explored the question of what makes for a good model. We developed detailed calculations based on the expected value framework. That chapter was much more mathematical than previous ones, and if this is your first introduction to that material you may have felt overwhelmed by the equations. ......"
Even thought this not my first time with this material I found this book unclear. Al... Read more
Review:Sarah has a tagline "Funny, because it's true." (Sorry, is that trademarked?) This book had me laughing out loud over and over because, YES, it's SO true. Many of us have unknowingly been following Sarah's advice for years and have built stellar careers on these principles. You'll read a little vignette, and then nod, grin and say "I know that guy... he works here..." Sarah describes small, subtle quirks of human behavior that I'll bet you've seen in YOUR workplace. You should get a couple ... Read more
Review:Really powerful bunch of ideas for making speeches stand out! Really easy to understand and clearly written, just the right amount of information with the option to dig deeper into the specific talks if one is interested. I will have my first seminar ever next week and I am super stoked I read this before, will definately implement more than a few of the tips. Read more
Review:Recently I bought this book and immediately made some textual changes to my company website based upon the contents of this and "Hot Button Marketing" by Barry Feig. The two mixed together have already begun to pay dividends in terms of conversions of visitors into prospects which will lead to customers and/or partners.
The lessons I learned as I read some of the material:
1) You may believe you're using the right words to sell (as I did prior to reading over the book), but there a... Read more

Review:I am an Economics majors student and I found some (like 7 out of 10 times) solutions/reasons given by the author pertaining to the problems unreasonable or rather absurd, let me start from the Environmentalist essay.
The author sounds too traditional, unlike an economist he writes, whatever his daughter learned in school he overturned it like the one regarding sharing transportation or recycling(R), of recycling(R) he gives some study (subsequently supports it too) that no. of trees fall if R... Read more
Review:Easy to read, but very dated information. Some of the guidance given, for example, regarding email marketing, has been made irrelevant due to laws written after the 2002 publication date (and apparently have not made their way into later editions of the text). Read more
Review:Although this book was required for my intro MBA class, I would highly recommend this as a casual read for those business people who want to improve their organizations. Senge's concepts change your way of thinking, and make you look at the world a little different. Plus it was extremely affordable at only $17. I will read this book again. And probably again. Review:This book is a "fast" read. The topics covered will help anyone in there interaction with people and with self understanding. Great for those that might find themselves having to speak in public or to a group of any size. Well worth the read and, for what it has to offer, worth the cost! Read more
Review:After several years of watching TED Talks, it finally hit me that I could incorporate those principles into the public speaking I do in my job. I've read books, web articles, and various other materials about how to give a TED Talk. I've watched YouTube videos. I've watched TED Talks ABOUT TED Talks, and so on.
When I saw this book, I had to have a copy. I mean, if it's written by Chris Anderson, it's got to be good, right? I'd only gotten through the first few pages, and was already... Read more
