Review:This story is fantastic. It is about a horse named Joey who gets taken away from his owner (Albert) and is sold to the military.
Joey goes through hard training , battle, and losses and remained a sturdy work horse.
Even though the book is told from the horse's point of view, you get a great amount of details about the people around him.
There is also a big question: will Albert ever find Joey again?Through Joey we receive a message of hope and the search for peace in the midst of a ba... Read more

Review:My girlfriend, Tammy, and I both love cats. She has two adorable ones that I have fallen in love with: Riley and Jessie. They changed my life. I can sympathize with James Bowen of “My Name is Bob.” Our lives just don't feel complete unless we have someone, human or pet, to share them with. Animals can fill us with joy, lift our spirits, and give us hope. When I lived in Knoxville, Tennessee, I once belonged to a group called “Pets on Wheels.” We took dogs, cats, and even rabbits to nursin... Read more
Review:Berenstain Bears is a childhood favorite of mine. I loved them as a kid and it has continued into adult hood when I get to share my favorite books with my nieces and nephews! Of course, this particular book about messy rooms, never really helped me keep my own room clean. But I still love remembering those days when I snuggled up with my mom to have a Berenstain Bears read-a-thon! Read more
Review:We purchased this because our daughter is very intrigued with black and white patterns (as are all small babes). The pages are very sturdy and have held up well considering the constant gnawing and slobbering. The pictures are great and the touch of metallic color is really nice. The only thing I would add is some type of story other than the noises the bugs make. Read more
Review:This is the third book about Darwin and the evolution of the ideas about life's origins that I've read in the last year, and it's a really good complement to other books. It's precise, concise, and relatively easy to follow, given the complexity of the topics that are addressed. The work done by the scientists described in the book is amazing, and the conditions under which they do it are remarkable -- basically camping on an inhospitable island (inhospitable for humans) for months at a time.
Review:Still a classic. My granddaughter needed to read and do a report on it for school, so down loaded it on my kindle. After she was done with the homework, I also read it. Yep, still made me cry like it did when I read it for a homework many many years ago. Read more
Review:This book is full of humor. I found myself giggling aloud as I read about the various tricks the monkeys play on the boy. I won't give the story away. It's an easy, enjoyable read. My ten yr old daughter also enjoyed it. Read more
Review:Loving devotion, decency and courage can come from an assortment of places-our mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters and friends-but one would not immediately suspect that those qualities would or could come from a scruffy, beat-up old coon dog named Sounder. It just goes to show that pluck and deep affection can soar up and out where we least expect it. In the heart of the old South there is a deep-rooted and pervasive, detrimental thinking that is the general make-up of the majority's attitude. ... Read more
Review:My daughter absolutely loves this book. Me too. Well written and the pictures are great - a lot of details you can point out to your 19 month old: birds, cats, dogs, umbrella, ladder, etc. You may stay on the page and talk about it "forever." I love when we get to the page when the family shakes their heads and say: oh no, it can't be Harry - my daughter does exactly the same - oh no no no, it's not Harry:) Funny. Worth every penny!
