The Feeling Good Handbook (Plume)
The Feeling Good Handbook (Plume)

Review:This one's the real deal! Burns tackles our crazy thoughts that cause our emotions and helps us replace those thoughts with healthy, accurate, rational thoughts. It really isn't your mother-in-law whose making you feel bad about yourself, it's your thoughts about her that are. Believe me, I was amazed when I delved deep into my head and realized what was going on in that jungle!

What you must know about this book, though, is that this is not a 'read it and feel better' exercise. This is a... Read more

A Farmer's Advice for Happier Hens - and a Better World

Review:Joel Salatin is a national treasure who somehow finds time to run Polyface Farm (with the able help of generations of family) and spread the word about our despoiled food sources and what we can do about them. After reading it myself, I gave this book to my brother, as he's recently discovered the value of real and whole foods. Read more

How Conservatives Ruined Government - and Beggared the Nation

Review:Two problems with this product:
1. The CD stops and skips so often that is painful to listen. Poor quality electronic production. I tried several discs with no improvemtn in quality. Very Disapointing.

2. This type book is a poor candidate for audio presentation. The author's style comes across badly in an auditory performance. So bad,in fact that it distracts from the author's message. Rendering the book unintelligible. Read more

The Visual Display of Quantitative Information

Review:This book is as amazing as it is beautifully illustrated and packed with useful tips. After reading it I've never looked the same way at charts. It's amazing how bad most of the existing charts are. It's like taking a course in professional photography and then realizing the difference between a professional photograph and an amateur snapshot. Read more

The Journals of Lewis and Clark (National Geographic Adventure Classics)

Review:I got a bit tired of the continuous description of the rivers, but I did so enjoy hearing their reports when they met with the Indians, and finding out if they were hostile or not. They were out in all kinds of weather. Such strong men. Read more

How Randomness Rules Our Lives - The Drunkard's Walk
How Randomness Rules Our Lives - The Drunkard's Walk

Review:I've read Mlodinow's "Subliminal" first. That is a later effort and actually a lot more accessible than this volume here. Nevertheless, I think it is safe for me to say that both volumes will have literally changed my life.

Rich with entertaining anecdotes from the history of our knowledge of probability and science; written with wit and love. I can't recommend this book enough.

Thank you Mr. Mlodinow! Read more
