Review:This book was recommended to me by a Warning Coordination Meteorologist from Norman Oklahoma. It is a fantastic book. Lots of names of folks I know of or have met in the field of meteorology. Kim Cross is an amazing writer and I loved the way her words wove the story. I could not put the book down. After reading this book I realized why I do what I do when I am out spotting for severe weather. . Read more
Review:Laszlo does an excellent job of explaining the origins, beliefs, and approaches used by Google's People Operations team. Many parallels to our own approach, which is often inspired by what they've accomplished. We documented a number of their stories in The Decoded Company, though the deeper background here is very welcome. Read more

Review:A great read, absolutely fascinating and well written as well as backed up by proper research and facts. The author has done a great job and I love how he successfully manages to avoid falling for the typical traps that await someone writing such a book (full on anthropomorphism, for example).

Review:To my surprise, the book is significantly different from the original movie. Read the book first, then watch the 1968 movie, then watch the "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" (2011) and you'll be in science fiction heaven! Read more
Review:A classic of epidemiology, cataloging the various parasites, bacteria, and viruses that have been unleashed upon humanity by humanity's own invasion of the biosphere. The book is more than two decades old, but aptly tells the story of humanity's fight against infectious agents, the premature and hubristic belief that we had conquered the microbe (coinciding with the conquering of smallpox and the sword of antibiotics) up until around 1995. I'd love to see an update discussing the more recent h... Read more
Review:A very important book for our times. Leopold's message is to this day still being ignored by this country's power-brokers.
Beautifully written classic. A must-read for high school students and should be part of the curriculum. Read more
Review:Quite simply this book should be universally required reading in every 10th grade class. Then ,to reinforce its message, likewise in the college senior year.
The copy I received, to replace my old one, had dried out binding yet was listed as, I believe, like new. or something of the sort. . Read more
Review:Rachel Carson was way ahead of her time in determining that toxic insecticides , herbicides & pesticides were literally being dumped upon not only humans but, animals & vegetation . Although she can sound over the top with her assessment of the dangers, she was one of the first to speak out & make the public aware of the issues and probably saved many lives. This can be a little technical at times but not overly so. I think you can tell how passionate she was about these issues &... Read more
Review:As humans we all make mistakes. The reasons are wide and mainly because we aren't computers that operate "by the rules". This book is a fun reading. It shows phenomenal mistakes we are doing.
A lot of the stories are probably from the same sources as others books I have read on the subjects. But they are nice to be remembered.
I did enjoy the story about us straightening the map. It appears that when we have a map in our head we straighten the curves. I saw it myself while driving the ... Read more
