Review:Really great, A well written novel that once started you didn't want to put down.
The author had taken the time to write a story that kept the reader interested until the last page
It had me guessing to the end although I did suspect the killer but not in the way it ended up.
Thanks a great book Read more
Review:This is obviously an easy read, written to a well-known romantic formula. In the first chapters the author tried just a little too hard to be funny, and it came across as forced. I almost put the book down. But then things improved, and the descriptions of the cottages and the café in Dorset drew me in against my will! This is not my usual kind of read, but I admit I did enjoy it. The "Comfort Food Café" is actually a concept which could work in small villages! Laura, the protagonist, tells this... Read more
Review:I truly enjoyed this book which gave me an interesting perspective on death and the next life. Will has a big decision to make. Does he crossover to paradise or stay behind as a spirit and be there or his child. Read more
Review:I seriously love the work of this wonderful author. This story was emotional and touches the core of getting out of abusive relationships and starting over. I love it and would recommend this book to any of my friends and family. Especially my dear over 30 friend who is thinking of taking this next chapter. Read more
Review:Well written tale of a dark period in Canadian history- when the children of unmarried women were considered to bear sin and even worse, were sent from orphanages to asylums because the nuns running the facilities were paid more to care for the mentally ill. Set in 1950s rural Quebec, Goodman also touches on French-English conflict. The novel tells, in almost alternate chapters, the story of Maggie who becomes pregnant and Elodie, the daughter she thought was dead but who was in fact put into ... Read more
Review:I loved "Unwanted Wife" and was looking forward to Ms. Anders next book. I was not disappointed with "A Husband's Regret". I started reading and could not stop and similar to "Unwanted Wife", I found myself tearful more than once, while reading.
There is something about both of these stories and Natasha Anders' writing that gets to my emotional side and turns those buttons right on. I was able to immediately dive into Bronwyn and Bryce's story and get caught up in their tragic misunders... Read more
Review:In Knut Hamsun's Hunger, the narrator and protagonist roams the streets of Kristiania (Oslo) and searches for food and later lodging. A writer of questionable success, he submits his writings to a journal but rarely gets the story accepted. Without money, he often doesn't eat for days.
As we read the novel, we dwell into the mind occasionally delusion of a man trying to maintain his dignity in poverty. Though he had no food, he gives money to children and vagrants. And though he fancies a... Read more
Review:Tayari Jones is an author with an unerring eye for the little details of human interaction, and she never fails to care for her characters. As a result, this is a story that has no easy villains, a fascinating complexity, and emotional stakes in every scene. Just amazingly well done. Read more
