Goodbye, Vitamin: A Novel
Goodbye, Vitamin: A Novel

Review:I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via Edelweiss.

Goodbye, Vitamin is the type of book that could get overlooked because it’s all about the intangibles, but don’t make the mistake of overlooking this one! Though this story is about a sad and serious topic, it has a lightness to it and is amusing at times. The story is told through Ruth’s journal entries that read like little vignettes, a format that worked for me in this case because I absolutely adored Ruth’s... Read more

How to Get Filthy Rich in Rising Asia: A Novel
How to Get Filthy Rich in Rising Asia: A Novel

Review:I'm marveled by the author's writing skill and his wits.
But as an Asian born person, I do not find this book particularly appealing.
I bought this because Tim Ferriss recommended in his night time routine.... Read more

Review:This short novel contains a story within a story. The frame story is a dinner conversation in Lahore between a Princeton-educated Pakistani and an American visitor to the city, as the result of what appears to be, as least ostensibly, a chance encounter. Within that story, forming the core of the novel and of the dinner conversation, is the account by Changez, the Pakistani, of his glory days as a top student at an elite American university, his work as a star rookie at a Manhattan valuation, ... Review:I haven't read this author's Pulitzer Prize winning novel, [book:The Sympathizer|23168277], so I was glad to have the opportunity to read this short volume of stories to get a feel for his writing and now I will for sure read it. The author immediately with captivating writing invites you to meet not just the characters in the present, but we learn about their pasts as well . We meet the ghosts, their families, the culture, the country of of their birth - Vietnam , and inevitably the undercurre... Read more

WINNER OF THE WOMEN'S PRIZE FOR FICTION 2018 - Home Fire

Review:The book is divided into sections of different character’s narration, but instead of echoing each other and filling narrative gaps, it did the opposite. I enjoyed reading the first part of the story but couldn’t quite follow the Aneeka stories, the twin brother plot as well as the love story. The author based the story on Antigone but seemed to me too stretched out for that purpose. Also I don’t know how to take the ending. Overall I am quite disappointed. The book seemed to me more like an ove... Read more

An Epic Dragon Fantasy (Dragon Born Trilogy Book 1)
An Epic Dragon Fantasy (Dragon Born Trilogy Book 1)

Review:There was a decent premise that wasn't fleshed out well. Rowen doesn't have a set personality, she fluctuates between brave and skittish, machiavellian and simple, smart and air headed. The dialogue is juvenile, even when delivered by an adult character and there are issues with words missing or misused. The world building needs work as well, but after an editor spends some time with it, it could be a decent story. Read more

Succubus Blues: 1 (Georgina Kincaid)

Review:After the finale of Vampire Academy I went in search of a new series. I wasn't keen on reading more Richelle Mead, thinking I should seek out new authors and expand my horizons. Embarking on new series I have since found several authors I love from fantasy to crime, however I thought to myself "Why not try another of Mead's series?" I am so glad I did.

This book is about Georgina, a succubus, who although a demon, has a conscious. She wishes to be normal (don't we all!) but instead has to... Read more

Succubus Nights: Urban Fantasy: 2

Review:good writer, good premise. It isn't my preference, is all.

If you like Romance then this is the book for you.

If you prefer Vampire Academy by Ms Mead, this is not it. This runs more to the wall to wall sex.

I prefer Urban Fantasy that runs more to action and less bedroom. Read more

Maximum Ride: Angel
Maximum Ride: Angel

Review:I am a fan of the series. Honestly, I thought it was a very good read, although frustrating between Dylan and Fang. I love Fang, but this book kind of makes you like Dylan a little too. However, the wait for the last book is much too long! JP ends "Angel" with a massive cliffhanger! And we have to wait a flippin' YEAR to find out what happens! Other than unresolved issues and a frustrating romantic plot, this book was a pretty good one. Not the best of the series, but it definitely holds your at... Read more
