Review:I have always loved the Anne stories, but with this series I got to read them all. Anne Shirley never disappoints me. The last two books were anecdotal of PE Island. Several of the stories were disturbing for there bluntness. Some had very unexpected endings. Some were not at all what I would have expected from. Montgomery. I wouldn't say they were all delightful, but I can say the first four deserved 5 stars enough to over ride the rest. Read more
Review:L.M. Montgomery is one of the best writers of all time. I love going back to her books, always so wholesome and family oriented. O love being able to read these books with my almost 12 year old daughter... Read more
Review:Translated by a computer? Horrible. Checked Russian and German translations of same book by same company. Again, computer? Missing prepositions, tenses all out of whack. A first year student could have done better. The translating company's website doesn't exist. The scary part is the publishing company seems to be under the auspices of Amazon. Sad days. These books are flooding the market. Read more
Review:One of the best books I've read in awhile. Clever, laugh out load funny and over the top real, Meaty is a treat for the heart, soul and mind. A must read for those who want to embrace all things, good, bad and indifferent that makes us human. Read more
Review:Not a good as her other books. This is her take on an etiquette books and really it's a bit lack luster (sorry Celia). Also she gets into politics a little more than I'd like and it's a bit off putting. I bought this book as a good read for after a surgery and 100 pages in I just couldn't go any further. Maybe it ends in a spectacular way, but I doubt it. That said... I think I am going to force myself to finish this not so good book. Read more
Review:I have read the first, numbered half of the Hornblower Saga (from "Midshipman" up to "Beat to Quarters"), and I very much enjoy the series. I like Hornblower's ability to meticulously plan, the human way in which he is so self-critical (something all people probably can relate to), and his ability to unerringly know the right moment to take a risk in order to enhance the fruits of his careful planning.
However, I was reluctant to pay full price for something that was, essentially, half ... Read more
Review:Good, thoughtful read. I always think I know how I would handle a situation, but this author helps you to see from other points of view, which I think makes her a great writer.
I was very drawn into the story, and it was very though provoking. Read more

Review:I like some people read Shannara before I read Tolkien. I was amazed by Brook's writing and detail. But when I read Tolkein I was blown away and felt a little disappointment with Brooks for pretty much carbon-copying Tolkein in this book. But after I read the WHOLE Shannara series I began to understand the reason for Sword of Shannara. It sets up Brook's world. Sure it resembles Tolkein pretty closely down to the names. But give it a chance, he wrote it in college and his writing has IMMENSELY m... Read more
Review:The Magic Kingdom of Landover is a fun, secondary world fantasy series by long time fantasy novelist Terry Brooks. In this day and age of George R.R, Martin and Joe Abercrombie, when gritty, ugly, gloomy fantasy worlds are all the rage, Brooks somehow manages to remain a herald of a more traditional style of fantasy, and his Landover series is no exceptions. In fact, I enjoy these books even more so than the Shannara books.
This series has a charm all it's own. The characters are entertai... Read more
