The God Engines
The God Engines

Review:the book was both light in writing and content, the characters in the book while acceptable had a very disappointing plot. The premise for this book would have been better if more nuances and less cliches were used. Having been a fan of Scalzi in the past this was not his best effort or most thought out work. Read more

Fuzzy Nation
Fuzzy Nation

Review:Don't think of this as a re-telling, or even a sequel to, the beloved source material--it is part homage, part alternative perspective, but all enjoyable. Best of all, it functions easily as a stand-alone novel and has, I'm sure, generated interest in H. Beam Piper's long-underappreciated original work. As usual, I won't bother with a plot synopsis--the story is as old as colonialism: bad guys want what innocent natives have and only the reluctant heroes stand in the way. Except the natives may ... Flatland (Illustrated)

Review:I first read this book in High School many, many years ago. It was a treat to read it again as an adult. The humor, irony, social comment, wonderfully stilted Dickensian language and logic were mostly lost on that drifty teenager but really enjoyed this time around. Read more

Dark Side of the Moon (Dark-Hunter)
Dark Side of the Moon (Dark-Hunter)

Review:Dark Side of the Moon I have waited for what seemed like forever of this book. Maybe my expectations were just too high. Ravyn and Sarah are really cool characters. And he is unique among the other dark hunters out there. But at the end of the book I just felt let down.

If this a your first Sherrilyn Kenyon Dark Hunter Novel you will probably enjoy the ride. But for those readers who have been on this ride since the begining there maybe some disappoinment. Simi does not make an appe... Read more

A Short Story Collection (Dark-Hunter Novels) - Dark Bites

Review:I absolutely loved this anthology of Sherrilyn Kenyon's back stories for characters that pop up in the novels. The Gallagher story revealed more about Acheron and his interaction with the human race, while I loved Acheron's role in bringing a werewolf together with his werepanther wife. The werewolf has a famous bar that makes it's way into numerous stories. I loved the variety and the information-one of the stories made me go back and re-read "Styx" for the connection to the characters. Just a ... Read more

Devil May Cry (Dark-Hunter, Book 11)

Review:A fan since the beginning, Ms. Kenyon is still amazing me with her writing. Granted the books are all written in the same tempo and manner but thats why I love them! Mixed reviews had me a little leery at first although now I can't understand why. Excellent, waiting patiently for the next one. Read more

Book 1 in the Powder Mage trilogy - Promise of Blood

Review:If you are looking for a new twist on your usual fantasy books this is it. Well developed characters, that have heart and soul. Plot twits that keep you guessing. Action and plenty of it. Looking forward to the next in the series. It did get off to a bit of a slow start, but that gust gave you the groundwork for the story. Read more

Book 2 in The Powder Mage Trilogy - The Crimson Campaign

Review:This book was great. The pace was fast, and the feel was very real. The world "felt" very real, without losing pace for details. Overall, plot was a good balance between expected and unexpected. Definitely a great read. Read more
