Review:I bought this book when my baby was born, excited to give her a great start in physical and mental development. I was greatly dissapointed, however. I have since done a lot of research about baby development, and learned about the Feldenkrais Method. I read Anat Baniel's book Kids Beyond Limits: The Anat Baniel Method for Awakening the Brain and Transforming the Life of Your Child With Special Needs and ca... Read more
Review:This is one of the few things from childhood that has stood up over time. It is as cute and funny as it was when I was a little girl. I look forward to sharing it with my own daughter when she is old enough to enjoy it. Read more
Review:I have nearly finished Shapiro's book and the most striking thing about it is the ease with which he shows American university professors to be fools, by using their own words. I teach at a public university in Canada, where all universities are public universities, and most university faculty have socialist tendancies, so I have some sense of the difficulties that conservative thinkers face in the academic community. While Shapiro may have put forward some of the most blantant examples of pr... Read more
Review:A cute and inexpensive graduation gift for high school graduates. I just flipped through it and read the reviews ~ I didn't read the whole book. It has a lot of pertinent topics for college kids (i.e., managing money, drinking, roommates, etc.). For the grads that we knew very well, we put a check inside, for kids that were not close friends, it was good to have something inexpensive to give as a gift. I would recommend it. Read more
Review:This book really helped me with my word work instruction during my Daily 5 & CAFE. I love the word sorts & PD Toolkit. I used the website to track & group my students. I use the electronic word sorts when demonstrating the procedures. Read more
Review:If you want letter tracing pages, this is the book for you! It's not exciting at all - it includes simple black and white pages with a small picture of something that begins with the letter to be traced. I have noticed that the colorless, simple format is actually less distracting than some of the other, more colorful work books. My just-turned-4 year old isn't exactly thrilled with this book, but it gives him something to do while he waits on his brother to finish his homework. Read more
Review:I must say this Kindle book was a nice surprise - although the topic might discourage many people from browsing this book at all, I find the book to be very well written and appropriate for all audiences regardless of educational background. Formatting on the Kindle is overall acceptable, but with the occasional missing word or sub phrase, like in this example in Locations 2933-42 "Thus February 12, 1809, has and 14+14 = 0, so ..." Review:I finished An Uncomplicated Life in two days. I couldn't put it down. Jillian's journey parallels my son's journey in so many ways I was able to relate to. And Paul Daugherty's writing is engaging and flows so beautifully. I am thrilled to read of the adventures of adults with Down syndrome. I love the way Paul and his wife Kerry gave Jillian the freedom to make mistakes and learn from them. Many parents protect their children/adults with Down syndrome to their detriment.
I love that you didn... Read more
Review:As a counselor, I use this book with younger children (ages 5-8 primarily). It has activities so the kids can move around as we read through the book. I certainly would not recommend this as a bedtime book, but it is a fun book to read together and talk about personal space and boundaries. It gives you a fun way to talk about these topics later on that doesn't sound like a lecture which I think parents always find very beneficial. Read more
Review:This book is absolutely fantastic. I'm going to school to be a teacher and am required to present full lessons to my cohort, addressing them as though they were my second grade students. I read this book during a quick mini-lesson on emotions. Everyone loved it! Nearly every one of my classmates has gone out and purchased this book to add to their classroom library. Read more
