Review:Every Sunday I looked forward to going to church with my mother. I'd wear nifty clothes and matched them up with my favorite accessories: shoes and handbags. I'd look and feel good, ready to devote an hour and a half to God. Then -- bam! -- something happened, something very small and meaningless, almost imperceptive, that put me in a foul mood. I became cranky to the point that I was inexplicably angry, all kinds of dark thoughts entering my head. Which begged the question: why. Why was I... Read more
Review:As a person who struggles with severe depression, chronic exhaustion, this book was a welcome respite from reality. This book was inspiration and hope in my darkest hour. I found it comforting and uplifting. Even if you don't believe in religion or just need to know you matter, this book is what you need. Sadie reminds us to be fearless and love ourselves, to be kind, caring, loving...no matter how small the promoting...to listen to your heart. To know your own worth in God's eyes and your own.... Review:This is not only a book that shows the phenomenal upbringing of Dr. Carson and opens his life to view, it is encouraging to all ages, kids, preteens, teens and adults male and female. I saw many things in this book that paralell my own mothering of my children, and see that it is also a beacon and an example to all mothers.
Well I just mailed this book to my 27 year old son, plus also A More Perfect Union. I sent him a cell phone picture of the books. He asked to read them. (that alway... Read more
Review:I received this story, this is my voluntary review.
Swords & Stilettos is a fast-paced and well-written read. It is action-packed with vivid imagery. It also offers drama, humor, intrigue, and romance that grabbed and held my attention throughout. I appreciated the twists and turns of the story that kept me entertained. I enjoyed the friendship between Zoe and Kieran, as well as between Zoe and Sidelle. I also adored the connection between Zoe and Shay; their banter kept a smile ... Read more
Review:The Good News Translation of the Bible is a great translation because it is so easy to read AND it is translated from original text (not paraphrased). However, I was surprised that these Bibles were as small as they were, although they are a nice size for carrying with you - nice and petite. The printing was a little small, but I was able to read it. I bought these for my daughter and son-in-law and they were pleased with them. It is hard to find the Good News Translation for sale so I am gl... Read more
Review:I lead a small group of freshman girls and typically choose a book for them but this time I let them choose from a few options. Not reading this book before allowing the group to choose it was my biggest mistake. I will never recommend this book to anyone.
First off, the book starts off with a terrible story about a father who gets his teenage daughter hooked on meth and then begins a sexual relationship with her. Supposedly before this situation occurred, the girl's life was a "paradise." I ... Read more
Review:Got as a present for my younger brother. Looked at it a little after I gave it to him. Some things in it are more laughable than real information. But I guess it would help out somebody with no common sense or sheltered. Read more
Review:My husband and I work as houseparents in a behavior modification program for middle school age boys and have started using this book for morning devotions. I had heard a radio program (that included the Harris brothers)about the book and decided to check it out. It really is motivating to us adults as well as the boys. We have high standards at our program, Sheridan House Family Ministries, and this is great reinforcement coming from young men not much older than ours and based on biblical pr... Read more
Review:As the mother of a young teenage daughter, I want to help her to be the best person she can be. There are a lot of good books out there on this topic, many which I've already read. So, I was curious if "10 Ultimate Truths Girls Should Know" by Kari Kampakis had anything of value to add.
First of all, I think Mrs. Kampakis has a great style of writing. I felt like she was sitting with me, having a conversation. She's not "preachy" at all and gives some really valuable advice on mean gi... Read more
Review:Bought it as a gift --- boys were hesitant at first (since it said guide to "girls" --and they didn't want to admit they liked girls) yet it IS a good book and EXCELLENT advice for boys --- and I did see them reading it --- it has wonderful advice Read more
