The NBA According to The Sports Guy - The Book of Basketball
The NBA According to The Sports Guy - The Book of Basketball

Review:After reading all 700+ pages, I'm surprised the Sports Gal is still with Bill; the level of detail and analysis required to write this book would have definitely led to an end for most relationships. Bill manages to blend facts, opinion, and even some humor (especially about Kareem), into a very entertaining journey into NBA history. Can't wait for the next version in 2016...you know, after the Sports Gal leaves him, takes half in the divorce, and he's hard up for money. Read more

Shelter and Self-Preservation Anywhere - A Complete Guide to Food
Shelter and Self-Preservation Anywhere - A Complete Guide to Food

Review:Awesome. Came in a timely matter. The hardcover is way worth the buy, even if it's a bit roughed up, because this book should last a life time if taken care of properly. Though that's not to say that you can't take it outdoors, because this book is definitely meant for it. Read more

Danger and Survival in the North Woods - Lost in the Wild

Review:I HAVE NEVER PREFERRED BOOKS ABOUT HIKING----ALTHOUGH I LOVE NATURE AND THE OUTDOORS; BUT AFTER READING THE SAMPLE, I JUST KNEW I WOULD LOVE THIS BOOK, AND I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED! I JUST COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN FOR LONG! I BELIEVE THE AUTHOR HAS TO HOLD YOUR ATTENTION AND MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE ACTUALLY THERE EXPERIENCING IT ALL FOR YOURSELF, AND HE HAS CERTAINLY ACCOMPLISHED THAT. I WAS SO IMPRESSED WITH HIS FLUID TRAN... Read more

Girl in the Woods: A Memoir
Girl in the Woods: A Memoir

Review:On her second night of college, Aspen Matis - a girl so sheltered that her mother literally dressed her every day of her life - was raped by a boy she had just met. Because she invited him to "spend the night" after the rape (the sort of confused reaction that is more understood now than it was then), the college didn't acknowledge the rape. Not only did they dismiss her claim, but they even moved her rapist into the dorm with her, forcing her to abscond to living in a hotel room that ended up... Read more

Through My Eyes
Through My Eyes

Review:This is a must read book!!!!!! It is well written and down to earth written by a young person who is difinetly in the limelight. It is so refreshing to read of his personal life and his walk with Jesus. Every person and esp young people should absolutely read his words. It is uplifting and finally an enjoyable book to read. His eyes are always looking up even thought Tim is in the middle of fame and fortune. The devil can't hurt this young man. I believe that he has brought back all of... Read more

The Hidden Influences Behind How Sports Are Played and Games Are Won
The Hidden Influences Behind How Sports Are Played and Games Are Won

Review:This was a fairly interesting book. From what I gather about Freakenomics (a book I have never read but heard much about) this book seems to try to be a sports take on that. I can say that it did bring some interesting points to me however I felt that in a lot of cases the information was far too broad in scope and some of the conclusions they seemed to bring about were not fully justified.

The main point that they bring home, quite successfully I might add, is that the best way to look a... Read more

The breakthrough programme for conquering anxiety - anger and obsessiveness
The breakthrough programme for conquering anxiety - anger and obsessiveness

Review:I liked the book and found it very readable. While it did contain a fair amount of useful information, I feel like the same effect could have been achieved in a far fewer words. As other reviewers have noted, it also seems to be a shameless promotion for Amen Clinics. You will be encouraged to access their website for more content. I found nothing useful there that wasn't subscription based. Just an FYI.

If I had it to do over again, I would've popped for the book version. Referring back ... Read more

The True Story of a Hockey Rock Star - My Last Fight
The True Story of a Hockey Rock Star - My Last Fight

Review:This book really provides little to zero insight into what one would consider a pretty interesting life. Very little detail and just an annoying read for a fan craving behind the scenes info. I gave it 2 stars just because I feel sorry for McCarty. Read more

Sandy Koufax: A Lefty's Legacy
Sandy Koufax: A Lefty's Legacy

Review:I HAVE READ MANY BOOKS ABOUT SANDY KOUFAX AND THIS ANOTHER THAT IS PRETTY GOOD. THE AUTHOR JANE LEAVY, DOES A GREAT JOB FOLLOWING HIS CAREER AND EARLY LIFE, BUT I FELT THERE WASN'T ENOUGH MATERIAL ABOUT HIS LIFE AFTER HIS CAREER ENDED IN 1966. SAND KOUFAX IS THE GREATEST PICHER I HAVE SEEN. I ALWAYS TRIED TO SEE HIM ON TV ON SATURDAY GAME OF THE WEEK, ALL STAR GAME OR WORLD SERIES. WE HAD NO CABLE OR SATELITE TV THEN. LOOK AT HIS STATS, AND YOU WILL SEE THAT HE JUST DOMINATED ALMOST EVERY GAME H... Read more
