Review:As a former college athlete, the stories and the painting of the locker room picture sent me back to my playing days! Very funny stories, and his humor is very unique. Actually would've rather heard more stories rather than re-hash OSU's season in game-by-game detail. Quick read, and enjoyed my time reading! Read more
Review:Nothing really exciting here. The advice is obvious. Any self help book on self control has at least this much content.
Not worth the time if you've read anything close to this content. Self-control and mindfulness are covered much better in so many other formats. Just because it has "poker" in the title, doesn't mean the content is original. Read more
Review:This is a comprehensive textbook for understanding the short game. Dave talked about how one swing relates to another and provided the overall framework needed to really understand something and absorb it. Read more
Review:Filled with anecdotal evidence, this book is nothing more than a recount of people who decided to pursue their "calling" and found meaning through it. It is a poor attempt at teaching you that humans are programmed to work towards goals and that we find deep enjoyment in doing so. Anyone is better off reading Flow. Read more
Review:This book has lots of exercises and some good info on nutrition and plenty of workout styles (circuits, combos, complexes, and bodyweight). All the pictures are in black and white but they are descent size. Some problems I had was in chapter 3 he recommends pre-workout supplementation but no post-workout supplementation which is more important for recovery. He also recommends using protein, creatine and caffeine (pre-workout) but won't go into detail since he has written other articles regarding... Read more
Review:Overall, an entertaining read. I'm curious to see what happens to the characters. The characters, though, are CHARACTERS -- all eccentric and quirky. That gets tiresome pretty quickly. Or perhaps it just means that everyone I know is dry and dull. If you find it on sale, or someone offers to loan it to you, great. Otherwise, it's probably not worth full price. Read more
Review:This is an excellent read for anyone wishing to rapidly and effectively improve their marksmanship skills. Be sure to check out his videos on YouTube for an even better experience. Don't be surprised if some of the principals outlined here migrate out into how you approach building & improving other skills. Read more
Review:I take martial arts and have developed a slight interest in self-defense. Enjoyed Miller's perspective in this book. Easy read. Miller shares his real world, bare knuckle experience in law enforcement and as a prison guard.
Bottom line is avoidance is the best self-defense strategy. Stay away from sketchy people and sketchy places. Know what to look for and trust your intuition. Also, adrenaline will dampen the benefits of training in attack mode, assuming the rare occurrence that the at... Read more
Review:My daughter loves no team more than golden state w her fav player being none other then steph curry before and obviously after she read this book.
It teaches youth that keep dreaming then work to make that dream come true and that's the greatest lesson of all. Read more
Review:Although the four levels of infinities can nicely fit in our local universe ... even per person/instant, and thus make our eigenvector of constants just one of infinitelt many ... it somehow forgets to ponder that, of these infinities within infinities, there are likely to be constructs which utilize their universe in total, as a quantum-like computational system. Hard to imagine that neither Tegmark nor Hawking thought this through. Read more
