Close Your Eyes: A Novel (Kendra Michaels)
Close Your Eyes: A Novel (Kendra Michaels)

Review:Another spellbinding mystery with many twists and turns to keep you guessing til the very end. I have always been a fan of Eve Duncan and later Catherine Ling but the Johansens have given me another heroine with the introduction of Kendra Michaels. Read more

Dead Aim
Dead Aim

Review:This is definitely a typical Iris book, great action, a little far fetched, but nothing absolutely stupid. She did jump a little too much in the final chapters, leaving characters practically mid-sentence, and then picking them up again after the climax of the scene. I didn't like that ploy, but I did really enjoy the book overall. It's a good light read, with enough action to keep your attention. Read more

Review:I’ve been a Turtledove fan for about thirty years. Some of the WWI & WWII alternate stories seem to get bogged down in the day to day affairs of the Army personnel. A lot of Turtledove seems to be a rehashing of older plots and tropes. The constant foxhole tropes and the Turtledove Formulaic Doctrine, have left me to consider that the things that appealed to me three decades ago are waning in recent years. I’ve found myself enjoying Turtledove’s non-war stories more so than the war stories. ... Read more

Pushing Brilliance / The Lies of Spies / Falling Stars
Pushing Brilliance / The Lies of Spies / Falling Stars

Review:Kylle Achilles is one of my absolute favorite heroes and Tim Tigner truly is one of my favorite Thriller Authors. I have read each of these novels individually and rated them excellent. Now is your chance to get them in a 3 book set for basically the price of one of them. You won't be sorry. I compare Kyle Achilles to Jack Reacher, Jason Bourne, Dan Roy and all of the other great thriller characters, with Achilles usually at the top. Read more

The Nightmare Stacks: A Laundry Files novel
The Nightmare Stacks: A Laundry Files novel

Review:Great book, one of Charles Stross's better ones in the Laundry files saga. I did think it ended way too quickly but we know Stross likes to create cliffhanger's for the next books in the series so I was ok with that. Read more

The Girl from Venice
The Girl from Venice

Review:What a disappointment, from an author some of whose earlier works hit the mark so well. The characters in this book are flat and one-dimensional; there is little true feel for place or period, and, to top it all off, the details relating to flight are childishly naive. Overall: slow, plodding, predictable; hardly worth slogging through. Read more

Cold Harbor (Gibson Vaughn Book 3)
Cold Harbor (Gibson Vaughn Book 3)

Review:Following Gibson Vaughn through all 3 episodes of this series that go from bad to worse and far as Vaughn's life goes kept me in suspense for the 3 days it took me to read all 3 books. This may be Mr. Fitzsimmons' debut as an author but I sure hope it's not the last we hear from him. I wouldn't even mind hearing more about Gibson Fitzsimmons and his new "family ". Read more

Gunmetal Gray (Gray Man)
Gunmetal Gray (Gray Man)

Review:I started reading the series just a couple of months ago. Each one got better than the previous. A quantum leap with Back Blast and now better still. I like the way that possibilities have been set-up and can't (but I will) wait for the next one. Read more
