Review:As a member of the target audience for this book (midway through my teenage years), I really disliked this book. I picked the book out for myself to help me improve my life/mindset, and I was very disappointed.
The Good: The book starts off okay, and Shipp's voice is likable and mildly funny. He's not too pretentious or boring. Also, some of his advice is pretty sound and it gave me a relatively new perspective on how to identify sources of problems in my life.
The Bad: Then the bo... Read more
Review:Inspirational and comforting, this book puts into perspective the blessings of the America we live in today. We so easily complain about the struggles of today, while not recognizing the opportunities of tomorrow. The honest, clean living, hard working can, and do have more opportunities than obstacles. Those of us with "hard ass" parents need to read this book. Read more
Review:This book is okay, but I'm occasionally bothered by an underlying assumption that all boys are essentially the same. I've been around plenty long enough to watch and ponder how the men around me turned out. Where they found their place / what way of being was comfortable and right for them. There is much greater diversity in maleness than the author accounts for. Read more
Review:The book was entertaining. A story of freedom of adventure. Anyone that has had a child has lived seeing the new perspective of their Mother which is the central theme of the book. Good read for those thinking of having children stage of life. Read more
Review:This is the best potty training book. I followed the author’s technique exactly and my 25 month old got the hang of potty training VERY quickly. The book was a breeze to read, I finished it in two days. Read more
Review:My son loves this book. He carried it around everywhere with him, and we read it several times a day for weeks. When we began potty training, I feel like it was super easy because he was so familiar with the process because of this book. Read more
Review:This book is available in our public library - they have many copies, and they are all worn and dog-eared. Its the best book on the subject, so its worth buying your own copy. The illustrations are accurate enough to cause a little giggling among older children, but not graphic enough to be gross or icky. I wish it came in the cardboard book form. Read more
Review:Good story that is easy for children to understand why it hurts when they go #2. Unfortunately it hasn't eased his mind when he has to go and still holds it in. This book isn't a cure all but after several readings My 3 year old doesn't take an eternity when he needs to go. Don't look to this book to immediately solve constipation/bowel movement issues. It's more of an easier way of explaining to chidlren foods they should eat and not to hold in their bowels. Read more
Review:I first tried this with my middle child before he started potty training. He loved it almost instantly. The book helped him become more aware of himself and others and aided his ease into using the toilet. Yes, the "chamber pot" might not be contemporary, but he still made the connection. My youngest started reading his book and it also has helped her use the potty. But, this might be because "she" (21months) was much easier to train than my two oldest boys. She's very interested in the book, so... Read more
