A Guide to the Classical Education You Never Had (Updated and Expanded)
A Guide to the Classical Education You Never Had (Updated and Expanded)

Review:I thought I was educated before, but this wonderful book taught me new reading skills and whetted my appetite for the classics. Though I went to a good high school and college, I spent most of my time hearing about how "great" the Great Books were, without being much encouraged to sit down and crack one open. The Well-Educated Mind has helped to change that, which is why I disagree with the negative review posted earlier on this page. Maybe we "should" have learned how, why, and what to read i... Clear Steps to Easy Reading and Perfect Spelling - Phonics Pathways
Clear Steps to Easy Reading and Perfect Spelling - Phonics Pathways

Review:This book, Phonics Pathways started out with "acknowledgements". It then had a lengthy introduction. Then the reader journeys through "About Phonics Pathways". Then there was a discourse on "Getting Started". Then it had an article, "About Dewey". All of that before delivering anything informative about phonics. It did offer some good tools for teaching phonics after 12 pages of "stuff'. The tools it provided is the only reason my score for this book isn't lower. Read more

25 Irresistible Books That Are Just the Right Level for Beginning Readers
25 Irresistible Books That Are Just the Right Level for Beginning Readers

Review:The best books on the market. Literally. I practically bought every book on the market for my toddler and this is BY FAR the VERY BEST. I bought the level one pack and the level 2 already. I'll definitely get level 3. These books are the best, most interactive way to teach your child to read. I love the fact that they have just one or two lines of clear text per page to help children concentrate on the words. The size is perfect too. Big enough to read words clearly and small to stash into trave... Read more

Uncle Shelby's ABZ Book: A Primer for Adults Only

Review:Terrible terrible book it makes no sense any of it even on a good day.!!! We were very disappointed. He was such a talented person that I would not expect him to have this type of book and it was a gift because it was for an adult so I figured it would be a little bit more racing but the things inside of it if you read it make no sense whatsoever. The only reason this has one star is because it will not let me put this on without putting something in the stars and it will not let me put just a... Read more

Slapstick or Lonesome No More!

Review:'Fascists are inferior people who believe it when somebody tells them they're superior.'

We read the memoirs of the last president of the USA, now 100 years old and living on the Island of Death, Manhattan. A plague has decimated the island population. He isn't senile, but he has these hiccups.
The essence of this light novelette is not politics or the apocalypse, it is the relationship of the hero with his twin sister. Together they are genius, separated they are just average. Apart f... Read more

I'll have to check them out. The book is humorous, delightfully illustrated and teaches a good lesson about what is truly of value in a person. Read more

32 Third Graders and One Class Bunny - Life Lessons from Teaching

Review:I absolutely loved this book. I was actually pretty sad when I neared the end of it so soon. I took this book everywhere with me--to lunch, on the bus, everywhere. And where ever I was, I was laughing out loud. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys teaching. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys learning.
