I read materials on financial literacy and I found this book to be one of the BEST! It is well written and super focused on BUDGETING --- complete and comprehensive... no fluff ... no filler... IT is also very well complemented with How To INCREASE One's Earnings. Everyone should have this in his/her finance library .... every student, parent, financial coach and everyone. Anyone who follows the road_map in the book will unshackle himself/herself from the Paycheck to Paycheck trap. This book is not a book only to be read ... It needs to be put into action!

Very good book when it comes to budgeting and being wise with your money. Was never savy with managing the comings and goings of my account but so much more confident these days. Thank you Avery Breyer, looking forward to purchasing your next book

There's financial pitfalls and then there's black holes of time and money. the author explores, in depth, that age old beast—the realistic budget. There's deep dives in everything from shiney object syndrome to friends that spend … and encourage you to do the same, beyond all reasonable expectation of it helping you remain financially sound. We've all heard it before—have abudget. Avery approaches it from so many angles that you'll find yourself unable to come up with yet another excuse as to why you don't have one … still. A good book to get you off your assets and onto your life. A good read and a great reminder.

Unless you really have an issue, this book gets really boring really fast... I was just curious what they had to say and I couldn't read it without falling asleep or zoning out. I couldn't read more than a chapter or so.

This book was okay for someone who has not thought much about how one would retire. The advice is common sense. Just stop and think about how you would afford your retirement and you will devise similar ideas. I did not find anything special in this book.

This book is not for everyone. If you already have a budget and/or are managing your finances, there really aren't any new ideas that will help you improve your situation. This book is specifically for those who do not know how to develop a budget and need help getting start with financial basics.

Since I've been on my escape obligation venture, never again needing to be a slave to the loan specialist or live pay check to check, I've perused various cash administration books.
What I've found with this one is that, I don't concur with exchanging obligation to a credit. In case you're awful at overseeing cash this is definitely not an extraordinary thought. Nor do I put stock in utilizing Mastercards for focuses, in case I'm living check to check, nine times out of ten I'm not dealing with my cards fittingly.

This book is just what this world needs - a guide to help give direction through the cloudy financial scene. To have these steps pulled together in one place is the best gift anyone could get wrapped in a book. The simple explanations allows one to fully understand what is required to help anyone struggling with getting financially secure. The ideas of no longer living paycheck to paycheck is a dream for many, including myself, and Breyer helps you on how to achieve this dream. Great book and I recommend this to anyone who needs help getting on financial track.

Avery Breyer's "How to Stop Living Paycheck to Paycheck" is the perfect book for someone who is new to budgeting but knows that they must make a change in their spending and saving habits. The author has a gentle way of introducing the topic for someone who may not have read about -- or even thought about -- personal finance before. There are certainly more complex books out there that get into the nitty gritty about how much we should be spending or saving, but it can be hard for someone who is barely getting by to relate to a book like that. This book starts with the most important first step of building a solid financial life, which is knowing how much money is coming in and going out each month, along with suggestions on how to cut expenses and increase income. It also includes a free downloadable budget spreadsheet, as well as a section that explains in great detail how to use the spreadsheet. Take it from someone who had spent years making and revising their own budgeting spreadsheets: this attractive and easy to understand document is INVALUABLE and worth the price of the book alone! The author also offers her email address if you have troubles using the spreadsheet, which is helpful for those new to this sort of technology. All in all, the book is a great read and a great value for the actionable info it contains.

This book is action-packed to get your finances back on track. Breyer shows you the benefits of having a budget, eliminates any doubts or myths you have have budgeting and then helps you prepare the necessary mindset to become financially successful. She also shows you how to avoid common money mistakes that can set you back. The chapter that resonated with me the most is "Find Out Where You Stand." It's important to know what you are spending, earning, saving and what debts you owe in order to know what your true financial situation is currently. This enables you to determine the right course of action to take moving forward. If you're looking for an easy introduction to managing your money, this book is for you.

This is a terrific book and I have recommended it to my brother and sister in law as well. The great advice will work for everyone. Not only does it cover the basics such as saving on food, clothing and prescriptions, but it talks you through major expenditures such as buying a car and saving money on your housing expenses.
There really is something here for everyone. Good, solid, practical advice written in easy-to-understand terms. To get us started, Avery Breyer also added a money tracker for budgeting.
Each section has specific "action steps" that give you concrete tools to improve your financial situation each week. As the months go by I expect that I'll see a big improvement in my own situation. With this book, I can see the day coming when I have financial freedom.

Great read. I especially love the money tracker, I will be more prone to use it to help align my budget. It's about time I made one. Everything was so simply explained in the book as well. Got me to really think outside the box.

Finding myself at 64 ready to give up on Budgeting and all things financial..This is the answer with so many reasonable ideas and suggestions, taking the "scary" out of my future money worries. I can easily see myself following the practical ideas listed here and see light at the end of the tunnel. Also, the tone of the book is encouraging, witty and uplifting. Loved the book?

Some of these suggestions I already do, but I did get a few new ideas. This book is motivating and I feel more optimistic about my financial future. It's worth reading and will only take two hours to read or less.

I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. It gives the reader a detailed blueprint on how to stop living paycheck to paycheck. It provides the reader with the required tools that are necessary for accomplishment. Not only does the author give personalized examples of how she refrains from living a paycheck to paycheck lifestyle; but in addition, and potentially most important, the author gives you the inspiration and confidence that you too can achieve it.
